Results wssp race 1

More, from a press release issued by Dorna:

Manzi takes second WorldSSP race win of the season, improves podium streak to 16 in a row. Manzi made it a trio of Italian race wins across all categories on Saturday at Cremona, Oncu’s race ended early after Lap 3 crash.

The 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship field took on Cremona in their first race at the Italian circuit on Saturday afternoon. Can Oncu (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) wiped out on Turn 2 of Lap 3 from the third position, a disappointment for the Turkish star. From there, it was a four-way melee at the front of the pack: Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing), Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph Factory Racing), Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse) and Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) traded overtakes, battling not only for the podium but for the race win. In the end, Manzi came out on top, Booth-Amos claimed P2 and Debise in P3.

MANZI MAKES IT TWO: Second race win of the season for the Italian, first podium for Debise

Manzi was his consistent self once again in his home country, with his win, he kept his P1 or P2 streak alive, he has not missed the top two positions in a race since his P3 at Estoril’s Race 1 back in October 2024. Despite running off the track early, Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse) responded well and regained a spot in the pack at the front. Booth-Amos finished in P2, and Debise in P3, both riders lacking the pace to catch the Yamaha rider. Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) unfortunately for him, despite being in the fight for the race win at the front, was the odd man out, finishing P4. Regularly battling at the front, Can Oncu (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) was absent from the podium fight this race after a Lap 3, Turn 2 crash, he returned later, however retired early after completing 6 Laps total.

DISSAPOINTMENT FOR THE DUTCHMAN: Bendsneyder misses top 5 for the first time since Phillip Island

Lucas Mahias (GMT94-YAMAHA) couldn’t keep up with the four-man pack at the front, however he was able to claim a solid P5 finish. For his career-best result in WorldSSP, Xavi Cardelus (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) claimed P6, ahead of title contender Bo Bendsneyder (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) who slipped down the grid early to P13 on Lap 1 and finished in P7, the first time that the Dutch rider has missed the podium since the first race of the season.

ROOKIES STRONG AGAIN: Farioli P8, Mahendra P9

Italian rookie Filippo Farioli (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) earned his best result of the season with his P8 finish, improving from his prior best of P11 from Assen Race 1. Aldi Mahendra (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) in P9 chalked up another top 10 finish, gaining momentum after a strong showing at Assen. Marcel Schroetter (WRP Racing) was just a third of a second behind the Indonesian rider, claiming the last of the top 10 positions.

RACE 1 CRASHOUTS: Rinaldi sees his day end early among others

Kaito Toba (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) crashed early in the race on Turn 2; followed by Simon Jespersen (Ecosantagata Althea Racing Team) who crashed on Turn 13 of Lap 7. Seconds after Oncu’, Corentin Perolari (Honda Racing World Supersport) wiped out in the same Lap 2 Turn 3 moment, ending his Race 1. Michael Rinaldi (GMT94-YAMAHA) was unable to continue racing after a tech issue befalling his Yamaha R9 on Lap 14. French replacement rider Andy Verdoia (Team Flembbo-Pilote Moto Production) riding in the place of the injured Loic Arbel retired early in Lap 12.

Chilean rider Isis Carreno (Pons Italika Racing FIMLA) charged up the grid from her P15 start position, displaying determination by climbing up to P9 and tying her second-best result in WorldWCR in the process. Results race 1 WSBK

More, from a press release issued by Dorna:

Home glory for Bulega as he holds off Razgatlioglu at Cremona’s Race 1. Bulega outlasts Razgatlioglu at the front of the pack to claim his first race victory on home Italian soil.

The first points of the Acerbis Italian Round have been awarded as the dust has settled after Race 1 here at Cremona Circuit, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) led the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship field across the finish line; followed into Parc Ferme by Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati).

BULEGA REASSERTS HIMSELF: Holds off Razgatlioglu early to cruise atop the podium for his 5th race win of the season.

After starting in P3, Toprak jumped off the line into P2 behind Bulega ahead of him, cutting inside of the Italian star into Turn 13 on the opening lap. From there, ‘El Turco’ fought tooth and nail to stay ahead of ‘Bulegas’, losing the lead back to the Italian rider on Lap 6’s Turn 11 at the end of the track’s main straight. Bulega held off Razgatlioglu as he made further attempts to pass, but as the laps counted up and the tyres wore down, Bulega began to pull away from the defending Champion who finished P2, and Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) in P3. Bautista had a lonely race as he was almost nine seconds behind the pair at the front, however he was almost 12 seconds ahead of the rest of the field behind him.

IANNONE HOLDS OFF THE PACK: Finishes P4 after rough time at Assen

The second group remained bottled up, riding close together as Andrea Iannone (Team Pata Go Eleven) defended his P4 doggedly from Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) and the pair of Honda factory riders Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) and Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC). After Lecuona crashed out of the race on Turn 3 of lap 15, Iannone asserted himself at the head of the second group, claiming P4. Behind him, Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) benefitted from a late move on Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) to claim P5, tying his best result of the season so far. Gardner finished as the top Yamaha, claiming P6 for the Japanese manufacturer.

PETRUX UNABLE TO REPLICATE 2024: The Italian Independent rider finishes P7

Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) wasn’t quite able to replicate his 2024 Cremona magic this time out, taking home P7 from Race 1 sixth tenths of a second behind Gardner. In P8, Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) pipped Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) by just two tenths of a second behind him in P9. Scott Redding (MGM BONOVO Racing) returns to the top 10 positions, after his P19 at Assen’s Race 2.

SAM LOWES P11 DESPITE ILLNESS: British rider misses top 10 but saves points from Race 1

Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) climbed up the order from starting in P16, finishing P11 just two positions behind Bimota teammate Bassani.  Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) had a tremendous start to the race, starting on the front row, however after running wide on Lap 6, he went on to finish in P12. Dominique Aegerter (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) finished in P13 behind the Brit, a three second gap between the two. Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) finished as the top rookie in Race 1, ahead Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) in P15 and fellow rookie Ryan Vickers (Motocorsa Racing) in P16.

DISSAPOINTMENT FOR YAMAHA: Marquee pair Locatelli and Rea P18 and P19

Bahattin Sofuoglu (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) finished in P17, gaining two positions from his P19 start position. Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) will have to wait until tomorrow’s Tissot Superpole Race in order to try to replicate his Assen success at Cremona as he crashed at Turn 2 early in the race, he recovered and returned to the race, however he finished in P18 outside the points ahead of teammate Jonathan Rea in P19 as he returns to. Zaqhwan Zaidi (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) finished 20th in the race.

TECH ISSUES: Rabat and Mackenzie suffer tech issues

After suffering a tech issue on Turn 6 of Lap 1, Tito Rabat (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) was forced to retire after his bike cut out on him. Turn 13 of Lap 5 saw the end of wildcard rider Gabriele Ruiu (Team Bmax) with a crash into the gravel. Lap 8 saw Tarran Mackenzie (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) end his day early with a tech issue.

The top six from the WorldSBK Race 1: Full results here!
