Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup: 2021 Selection Event Cancelled

Rookies Cup 2021 Selection Event Cancelled
Sadly the ongoing and ever changing Covid 19 situation has forced us to cancel this year’s Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Selection Event.

We simply cannot be sure of who would be able to attend the planned event.

Within the next few weeks a number of the Applicants will be invited to join the 2022 Rookies Cup. As last year we will be drawing up the invitation list based on the established strength of the applicants.

Applications are now closed for the 2022 Season.

Golden Bib

In previous year’s we have run a Golden Bib competition so that supporters could vote for the rider that they favoured to wear the Golden Bib at the Selection Event. This year we are having a virtual Golden Bib campaign so that enthusiasts can support their favoured Applicant.

This will be done through social media so please check in with our Facebook page from tomorrow:

https://www.facebook.com/redbullrookiescup

As in previous year voting for the Golden Bib will have no direct or immediate effect on the chance of an Applicant being invited to join the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2022.

2022 Selection for 2023

Hopefully the international situation will have stabilised so that we can run full Selection Event in 2022.

The Selection Process will open again in the spring of 2022 for applications to join the Rookies Cup in 2023.

British Supersport: Paasch Happy To Be Showing “Some Pace”

Dynavolt Triumph hunting for home-round honours

Dynavolt Triumph’s Kyle Smith and Brandon Paasch are keen to achieve success this weekend at the team’s home round at Cadwell Park.

The 2.187-mile Lincolnshire circuit is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, just six miles from the team headquarters in Louth and is characterised by sweeping corners, undulations and elevation changes.

The team enjoyed a successful evening test at the unique Wolds circuit at the beginning of the month which was the first time Spain-based Smith set eyes on the famous mountain and the first opportunity for Paasch to ride the ‘mini Nurburgring’ on a supersport machine.

Paasch heads into the weekend in buoyant mood on the back of his most successful results so far this year with two third place podium finishes at Donington Park last weekend and the 20-year-old is keen to replicate that form at Cadwell Park.

Brandon Paasch: “Super excited to head to Cadwell this weekend, try and keep the momentum from Donington and just keep chipping away.  Super happy we’re starting to show some pace!”

Kyle Smith’s confidence took a bit of a knock with a spectacular crash in the qualifying session at Donington Park and together with a couple of technical issues, never really got the feel back for a result.  Smith came away from Donington Park fourth in the championship standings and is still very much in contention ahead of the Quattro Group British Supersport Cadwell Park round.

Kyle Smith: “We didn’t have the best results in the last race at Donington.  Cadwell Park is a bit of a unique track and I’m not familiar with it but I am confident we are capable of good results, we just have to put it all together.”

Dynavolt Triumph Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “A really good double podium for Brandon and on the back of his fourth at Thruxton as well it’s a really good confidence boost to carry forward to challenge for the win at Cadwell Park.”

“It was a difficult Donington for Kyle after that huge off down through Craner Curves. We kind of lost momentum after that but we’ve put that behind us and we’re still right there in championship contention. We tested here a couple of weeks ago, both riders did approximately 50 laps each so although Kyle’s never raced here and Brandon only raced Moto3, both have ridden here on a proper test day.  We feel confident, it’s the home round of the team and we want both riders to challenge for the win.  The weather forecast is not great but that’s only in our favour.   Normally it’s the biggest crowd of the year, we’re looking forward to seeing all the fans there.  We can’t wait to get started tomorrow.”

Supersport action from Cadwell Park kicks off with Free Practice One tomorrow (Friday) at 09:40hrs (BST).

American Flat Track: Gillim Subbing For Injured Gauthier At Peoria TT

Vance & Hines to Field Two TT Titans at Peoria TT

Gillim and Janisch suit up to pilot twin V&H XG750Rs.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 19, 2021) – Vance & Hines announced today an addition to its roster for the Law Tigers Peoria TT presented by Country Saloon. This weekend Vance & Hines will field not one, but two of the sport’s modern masters of the TT in Peoria — Hayden Gillim and Jesse Janisch.

For one fleeting moment last weekend, it appeared that Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 D&D Cycles/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XG750R) finally had momentum on his side in his season-long mission to overcome AFT Production Twins presented by Vance & Hines title favorite Cory Texter (No. 65 G&G Racing/Yamaha Racing MT-07).

Riding high after scoring his first victory of 2021 at the previous event, Gauthier overhauled Texter on lap 3 of his Semi on Friday night at the New York Short Track doubleheader and saw nothing but clear track and two opportunities to score 25 points ahead.

What he didn’t see was the hole in Turn 1. Moments after moving into the lead, Gauthier’s inside leg was caught. The 2019 AFT Singles champ was fortunate to stay upright and only lose one position to Texter en route to a second-place Semi result.

The injured left ankle prevented Gauthier from walking for the remainder of the weekend, but heart, adrenaline, and courage allowed him to somehow muster up third- and second-place results when it mattered in the weekend’s twin Main Events.

Unfortunately, what was hoped to be merely a nasty sprain turned out to be a broken medial malleolus (the bump on the inside of your ankle). As a result, Gauthier will not be able to compete at the Law Tigers Peoria TT.

A healthy Gauthier likely would have been pegged as the pre-race favorite this weekend, and as such, his absence left D&D Cycles and Vance & Hines with some mighty big boots to fill.

In fact, in the bigger, championship-level picture, that’d be pretty much impossible to do so. But from a one-race perspective, well, they may have just pulled it off.

Enter TT masters Janisch and Gillim.

While boasting a strong all-around flat track game, Janisch is best known for his TT accomplishments and for good reason. The Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, native is the winningest TT rider in AFT Singles history, including victories at the 2015, 2017, and 2018 Peoria TT. He’ll compete this weekend on the #96 Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XG750R.

And while perhaps best known for his many road racing successes across a wide range of equipment and classes, Gillim happens to be tied for third all-time in AFT Singles TT wins, trailing only Janisch and long-time friend JD Beach. One of those wins came in Peoria, breaking up Janisch’s ownership of the undercard at the venue with a triumphant run in 2016. This weekend, Gillim will serve as Gauthier’s direct substitute on the #59 D&D Cycles/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XG750R.

While Gauthier’s presence will be sorely missed, it’ll be most intriguing to see how Texter and the rest of the AFT Production Twins field fare when pitted up against the likes of Janisch and Gillim this weekend at PMC Park.

World Endurance: Suzuka 8-Hours Race Cancelled

2021 SUZUKA 8 HOURS CANCELLED

8 HOURS OF MOST TO DEBUT ON FIM EWC CALENDAR

Scheduled to take place on 7 November in Japan, the Suzuka 8 Hours has been cancelled because of the health crisis, which has worsened in Japan over the past few weeks.
In order to shore up the FIM EWC calendar, a new European race, the 8 Hours of Most, has been added to the calendar to replace the 8 Hours of Oschersleben, initially scheduled to take place in May.

The 8 Hours of Most – the final of the 2021 FIM EWC and the FIM Endurance World Cup – will take place in the Czech Republic on Saturday 9 October as part of a car and motorcycle double-header with a WTCR race.

Following consultation with local authorities, the Suzuka 8 Hours organizer Mobilityland, the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) and Eurosport Events, the FIM EWC promoter, have decided to cancel the Suzuka 8 Hours, which was scheduled to take place in Japan on 7 November 2021.

This iconic race on the FIM Endurance calendar will be back in July 2022.

A new European race has already been added to the 2021 FIM EWC calendar. The 8 Hours of Most will be held in the Czech Republic on Saturday 9 October as part of a double-header featuring the FIM EWC and the FIA WTCR. These two international series organized by Eurosport Events have already been jointly held in Slovakia and in Sepang in Malaysia.

The new European race replaces the race at Oschersleben, initially scheduled to take place in May 2021.

After the Bol d’Or to be held on 18 and 19 September at Le Castellet, the maiden edition of the 8 Hours of Most on 9 October will be the 2021 final of the FIM Endurance World Championship and the FIM Endurance World Cup. The points will be increased by 150% as per the regulations, meaning 45 points are available for the winner of the race in each class.

Jorge Viegas, Président of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme

“Unfortunately, what we feared the most has now happened. An exponential increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19 in Japan after the Olympic Games means that the Japanese Government will now not permit the Suzuka 8 Hours to go ahead as planned, despite the enormous efforts made by Mobilityland and Eurosport Events. On behalf of the FIM I would like to offer a word of optimism for the future, since I am confident that this flagship event will come back stronger than ever. And when it does, we will be there together with the MFJ, Mobilityland and Eurosport Events.

“In order to maintain the number of events, we will activate plan B with a race at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic on 9 October. It will be a mixed car and motorcycle event as it was in Slovakia and Malaysia two years ago.”

Kaoru Tanaka, President Representative Director of Mobilityland Corporation

“We had been preparing for the “Coca-Cola” Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, which was to be held for the first time in two years, but the difficult decision has been made that we have no choice but to cancel it.

“It is a very regrettable outcome for us to be forced to cancel the Suzuka 8 Hours for the second consecutive year, because it is a very important race event for everyone. But we will continue to prepare for the Suzuka 8 Hours in 2022 and strive to make it an even more attractive event than ever for the fans and all those concerned.”

François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events

“We are resigned to having to cancel the Suzuka 8 Hours after consultation with local authorities. I share Mobilityland’s disappointment and that of endurance teams, fans, sponsors and broadcasters, who all wanted to have a season finale at Suzuka in early November. We will remain in Europe after the Bol d’Or for an 8-hour race on 9 October on the Most circuit, which has just hosted the WSBK. Eurosport Events will go all out together with the FIM to ensure the race is a success.”

OMRRA: DiBrino Wins Three Races At “The Ridge”

The fastest motorcycle riders in the Pacific Northwest convened in Washington this past weekend, with the Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association (OMRRA) traveling for an away game, as the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association (WMRRA) hosted both clubs for a joint-round at the Ridge Motorsports Park.

The fifth round on the OMRRA calendar, this past weekend was the fourth and final joint round between the two Pacific Northwest motorcycle racing clubs, and racers were treated to dry, windy, and cool conditions.

Large grids, fast racing, and good rivalries were had, with the OMRRA racers putting on a free racing clinic for our gracious friends to the north. Thanks for the memories and the trophies!

The fastest zebra owner this side of the Mississippi, Andy DiBrino dominated this weekend’s Formula Ultra grid, taking back-to-back wins in the premier class. DiBrino also made a strong showing against the 600cc superbikes in WMRRA’s Formula 2 class, riding a mostly stock KTM 890 Duke R, and finishing a close second to Adam Robarts.

DiBrino now has a firm grasp on the OMRRA #1 plate for next season, with Kevin Pinkstaff trailing in second place by 55 points. A high school science teacher by day, Pinkstaff will need more than his charming good looks and winning smile to beat DiBrino – all eyes will be on his blindingly bright neon yellow Zlock Racing machine at the season’s closing round.

Moving into the OMRRA Clubman Championship, Alex Taylor continues to lead the rest of the club in points, but Washington’s Chris Sarbora is making leaps and bounds up the championship standings. With only eight points now separating the two riders, Taylor will need to come up with a good safeword and dominate the Middleweight class races at the next round, if he is going to once again adorn his motorcycle with the #1c plate.

In the Langlitz Leathers OMRRA Vintage Championship, Matthew Winter is now leading the standings, after impressive results in the two races for the 160 Vintage class. Can he take the momentum all the way to the end of the season for the #1v plate? Only time will tell.

OMRRA racers return to racing on September 25th-26th, back on our home turf, the Portland International Raceway. All racers are welcome to join us on the track and keep it weird in the pits.

OMRRA, incorporated in 1972 as a non-profit, volunteer run organization, has members ranging in age from 12 to over 70, racing motorcycles of many brands, sizes and ages. OMRRA operates at Portland International Raceway, a city park and world class track. Yamaha Champions Riding School Now Offering Online Instruction

Yamaha Champions Riding School Announces ChampU – A Complete Online Riding Curriculum.

Charleston, SC – Yamaha Champions Riding School, the premier riding school in North America, is proud to announce ChampU. ChampU is an affordable, complete video curriculum based on our critically acclaimed two-day ChampSchool and available to anybody with an internet connection. The core curriculum consists of over 40 videos, 30+ drills and 40 quizzes that serve as a video textbook to change your riding life as a new rider, track day rider, or serious racer.

“We believe the sport of motorcycling is suffering because a lack of quality rider education,” said ChampSchool CEO Nick Ienatsch. “New riders are being sent out on the roads unprepared to confidently and completely control the motorcycle. This lack of education is so prevalent that it has created a seemingly endless stream of myths and half-truths even among experienced riders. Uneducated or miseducated riders are falling down, having a bad time, and quitting the sport. This is a serious problem.”

Yamaha Champions Riding School was founded in 2008 to teach riders the skills, mindsets, and techniques of the best riders in the world. A curriculum was designed around these “Champions Habits” and they are scalable to any level of riding experience and riding goals. Over the last thirteen years the school has enjoyed incredible success teaching thousands of riders.

Yamaha Champions Riding School is not cheap. Hiring world class instructors, maintaining a fleet of top-level motorcycles, renting suitable facilities, and moving all of this around the country is expensive. The high cost of tuition combined with geographic limitations served as a major obstacle for reaching a large number of riders around the world.

“We designed ChampU to overcome the two primary objections to acquiring quality motorcycle education beyond the basic rider course,” said Ienatsch. “ChampU allows us to reach more riders with our ‘Champions Habits’ message, to correct the myths and half-truths with proven techniques and skills used every day by the best riders in the world. The core curriculum is aggressively priced with an intro price of only $49.99 and once purchased the curriculum is available forever to be referenced over and over again. We have an ambitious expansion plan with new content coming on-line on a regular basis. Price and location are no longer a barrier to quality riding education.”

UtahSBA: Hicks Clinches 2021 King Of The Mountain Championship

The Utah Sportbike Association held Round 5 of the Utah Motorcycle Law
Masters of the Mountains Race Series on August 14th. Racers from
around the country traveled to Grantsville to race on Utah Motorsports
Campus’ perimeter configuration which had been on hiatus since the
2019 racing season. The temperatures were high over the weekend, but
riders got to cool down on the long front straight.

On Saturday the UtahSBA held their final class of the season, the
Advanced Rider Training (ART). UtahSBA believes that a skilled,
educated, and trained rider is a safer rider, this program helps
accomplish that goal. The ART is in partnership with the Yamaha
Champions Riding School (YCRS) and teaches skills developed and
practiced by the world’s top riders. Skills that were taught included
vision skills, braking, accelerating, and managing direction changes.
ART students got classroom time, drill time, and when the racing was
finished the ART students took to the track to put it all to work.

The morning began with the Trackstar/Dunlop and Moto Station/Pirelli
King of the Mountain qualifying. In the first qualifying session
riders took the time to do last minute testing and get everything
dialed in. In the second qualifying session things got heated up.
Tyler Jones improved his Q1 time of 2:01.980 to a 1:59.241 for P4 on
the grid. Eric Jones set a great time of 1:58.529 for P3 on the grid.
Jerry Hicks bettered his Q1 time and set a 1:58.202 which was good for
P2. Bill Davis improved his 2:00.347 from Q1 with a blistering
1:57.875 for pole position.

After a morning filled with close racing and excitement it was time
for the King of the Mountain race. Racers took to their positions on
the grid, bikes revved and lights went out for KOM. Eric Jones from
third on the grid took the holeshot after the long straight into turn
one. Following Eric Jones was Davis in second and Hicks in third. On
their way into turn 5 Eric Jones, Davis, and Hicks were nose-to-tail.
Eric Jones took a tight entry line into the turn and tucked his front
end, sending him out of the race. To avoid running over Eric Jones,
Davis locked his front and lowsided out with Eric Jones. Hicks made it
through the corner and focused on keeping it all together for the
remainder of the race. Race direction then called for a red flag and
riders returned to their garages. In the second start of KOM Davis
took the holeshot from pole position and Hicks followed closely
behind. As the racers completed the first lap it was Davis leading
followed by Hicks and Tyler Jones. At the end of the second lap Ryan
Richardson drafted Tyler Jones and passed him on the inside into turn
1 to take third. Davis led the race followed by Hicks until lap 5 when
Hicks made a move on the brakes up the inside of Davis for the lead.
Tyler Jones finished the race in fourth, Richardson finished third.
Davis took the second podium spot, and the KOM championship points
leader Jerry Hicks got the gold clinching the KOM title for the 2021
season.

In a post-race interview we caught up with Hicks who said, “Although
it’s been a bit of a fist-fight with a few things this season, I’m
happy to have now taken a third KOM championship on the trot and to
have locked up the Open Superbike and Open Superstock championships.”
Hicks also had some people he wanted to thank, “I want to thank my
wife, Carrie for all of her support, being team manager, hospitality
manager, number one fan, holding the pit board during races, and all
the other stuff she does to make this happen. Also, I want to thank
Kory, Brian, James, and the entire Moto Station crew. For equipment,
I’ve gotta give a nod to Pirelli race tires and Kawasaki for offering
exceptional products that allow us racers to ride to our full
potential. Finally, special thanks to the USBA board and our club
sponsors; without them, none of this would be possible.”

The AZ Riding Academy Combined GTO race brought more excitement to the
paddock as the day went on. David Thomas started on P7, when the
lights went out Thomas put his new BMW to work and muscled his way
through the front of the pack down the long straight to take the
holeshot in turn 1. Following Thomas was Rick Squires and John Tran.
The race remained the same until the final lap. As Squires and Tran
were coming out of the attitudes, Tran made his move to pass Squires
on the inside. From there they took turns blocking each other in the
last three corners. As they came out of the final turn side by side it
was a drag race to the finish line and Tran won. Squires finished in
third, Tran took second, and Meyer had the gold. The Edge Powersports
Deseret Dash race also had some great battles. Tyler Jones, who
started fifth on the grid, took the holeshot into turn 1 followed by
David Meyer. In Lap 1 Braden Jones found his way through two riders on
the inside into turn 5 for third. On the final lap Meyer made his pass
stick on the inside into turn 13 to take the lead. Braden Jones took
third, Tyler Jones held onto silver, and Meyer took the win.

As the race day neared its end, it was time for the C&R Coatings
Combined GTU. The race did not disappoint. Racers took their positions
on the grid and the track went green. Peter Hofpointner who started on
pole took the holeshot out of turn 1 followed by Lee McNutt. On their
way into turn 3 McNutt made his move on the inside of Hofpointner to
take the lead. Samuel Gluss who started on grid spot 31 had a dream
start that got him up to 4th. On the first lap coming out of the
attitudes Nicholas Schmit who was in third made a mistake which Gluss
capitalized on and got a good drive through Schmit on the inside to
take third. Gluss finished the race in third, in front of Gluss for
second place was Hofpointner. And McNutt took home the gold in
Combined GTU.

Once the races were wrapped up, UtahSBA club members and family all
came together for the traditional post-race BBQ, awards, and to talk
about the ups and downs of the day’s races. Racers then began loading
up their bikes and cleaning up their garages with excitement for the
final round of the season. Round 6 is set to be held on Utah
Motorsports Campus’ East track on September 4th. We look forward to
seeing you all then for our closing round!

MotoAmerica: The Final Round Of Press Releases From PittRace

ESCALANTE RETURNS TO THE TOP IN PITTSBURGH

Wampum, Pennsylvania ( August 18th, 2021 ) – This past weekend the HONOS HVMC Racing team returned east to the beautiful Pittsburgh International Race Complex. On Saturday Richie Escalante would lead the team to his first win in five races followed by a second place finish yet again with the narrowest of margins on Sunday. Corey Alexander earned himself an uncharacteristic finish just inside the top ten during the sole Stock 1000cc race with two top 12 finishes in the HONOS Superbike class.

Escalante arrived to Pennsylvania feeling mostly recovered from lingering injuries. Initially the #54 Graves-Spec ZX-6R battled some adversities during Friday practice and qualifying 1 but Richie quickly rebounded to qualify in second position Saturday morning. Some additional adjustments prior to Saturdays race gained Escalante the confidence needed to make some aggressive maneuvers to take the lead just after half race distance. He would go on to open up a small margin over his championship rival crossing the line on the final lap 0.144 ahead to earn the victory.

Race two proved to be a similar battle royale with Richie swapping positions for the lead numerous times in a series of close passes. After what seemed like would be win #2 of the weekend, Richie lost the lead on the final lap and was unable to counter prior to the line finishing 0.064 behind his championship rival. This marks another one of several finishes this season separating the duo by under one tenth-of-a second.

Richie commented: “It was another great weekend with a win and a second place. Now our goal is to be faster starting on Friday so we can better manage our set up prior to the races. If we can accomplish this then the only thing we have left to do is to go out and win. None of this would be possible without the support of my great team. I can’t wait for the final 2 rounds in a few weeks”.

After 1-2 finishes this weekend Richie maintains second place in the standings with a 61 point deficit to the championship leader. Richie’s personal sponsors include Fresh N’ Lean, HJC Helmets, Vircos Leathers, Alpinestars Boots & Gloves, and Hidalgo.

Corey Alexander again struggled to come to grips with his 2021 Graves-Spec ZX-10RR despite showing glimpses of speed after qualifying third for the weekends single Stock 1000cc race. During the weekends HONOS Superbike races the #23 earned an 11th place finish followed by a 12th for Sunday’s race 2.

The Stock 1000cc race would end up being delayed due to a red flag after a brief two lap start. After being pushed to the end of Sunday the race would see a full restart. Corey struggled to hold his third place starting position drifting back to a lonely 9th place finish by the races end.

Corey commented: “This weekend didn’t go to plan and I’m not very pleased with my performance on the bike. My guys worked so hard to give me a better setup all weekend and I couldn’t find the feeling I was searching for in order to consistently run the pace needed. With that said, I’m optimistic we will find some speed for our home race at NJMP in a few weeks time!”.

Corey’s 9th place finish places him 20 points behind but still  2nd in the Stock 1000cc championship. He  maintains third place in the Superbike Cup points race. Corey’s personal sponsors include: Arai Helmets, Alpinestars, Sals Pizza & Pasta, Ikoniqa, Four3 Performance Lab, Redshift, Gemini, Tucker, and Prestige Services Group.

The HONOS HVMC Racing team heads to it’s home round at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ for round 8 of the MotoAmerica Championship, September 10-12th. You can purchase tickets to the event via MotoAmerica.com or in person at the race track.

Career best MotoAmerica Superbike result for Bradley Ward in second race back

Bradley Ward was back in action and on the pace at Pittsburgh International Race Complex this past weekend in the latest round of the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.

Qualifying on the third row of the grid, the #57 rider rode superbly in Saturday’s opening race, crossing the line in seventh. He was running strongly on Sunday before a small mistake saw him run off track and failing to finish.

Despite Sunday’s DNF, Bradley’s speed in the last two races, following his crash last season has been impressive and he heads to the penultimate round of the series in New Jersey in a few weeks confident of another good showing.

Bradley Ward: “After my racing return in Brainerd where I struggled a lot with a bad blister, I have been battling an infection on antibiotics to try to be ready for Pittsburgh. I didn’t know if I would be able to ride. It’s not like me to moan about a bit pain given what’s happened to me in the last twelve months, but it wasn’t pleasant. I did a bit of home surgery and cut the infection out and we were good to go. We made some changes to make me more comfortable on the bike. The first session was decent, and we weren’t too far from where we were. I was happy to be honest. I managed to find a bit more time in Q2 when we put the qualifying tyre in and was able to make my best lap time at Pitt Race. I made a good start in Race 1 and was running inside the top ten and not too far behind Jake Lewis who is always a good benchmark. I enjoyed the race and was able to finish P7 which was my career best result to boot. We didn’t make too many changes for Sunday’s race, but I pushed a bit too hard and went down. I was carrying a bit more speed and lost the front. It wasn’t the way I wanted to end the weekend, but you must take the highs with the lows. It was my first crash since the big one last year so at least that’s out of the way and I can go to New Jersey confident.”

More, from a press release issued by Landers Racing:

The battle for the Sportbiketrackgear.com Junior Cup Championship heated up over the weekend at Pittsburgh International Race Complex as Ben Gloddy was able to decrease his points deficit after finishing first in race one, followed by a very close second in race two by a mere .061 after recording the fastest lap of the weekend for the Junior Cup Class at 1:54.435. The lap record was previously set by Gloddy’s teammate, Rocco Landers, back in 2019 at 1:53.969.

Gloddy had this to say: “We came into Pitt prepared to work hard and looking to close the gap a bit in the championship points battle; we were able to do that this weekend and now heading into New Jersey we are down nine points instead of sixteen. I am having a ton of fun battling on the track. I’m not going to lie, I get frustrated with myself when I am not able to pull off a win. We are all here for the same thing though and it is fun dicing it up out there with my buddies. I can’t thank Landers Racing and all of my supporters enough for all the hard work that goes into the race weekends and leading up to the weekends. I couldn’t do this without you all.”

Landers Racing team owner, Stoney Landers, added: “This past weekend proved to be a very solid and productive weekend for young Ben Gloddy aboard his Ninja 400R. He set the pace from the beginning, qualifying P1, then going on to win race 1. He came up half a bike length short in race 2 to get P2, but still salvaged some valuable points.  We continue to learn every weekend and will go into New Jersey ready to rock! Thanks so much to Tarl Kuhn, Will Eikenberry, Cameron Jones, Jaime Landers, Eric Lingis, and of course our suspension/setup guru, Barry Wressell with Ohlins and KFG Motorsports, for all their help, tireless efforts and support.”

Thank you to: Stoney, Tarl, Will, Boyd, Jamie, Lee’s Cycle Service, Ohlins USA, KFG Motorsports, CJR Performance, Evol Technology, The Big S, Freedom Cycle, American Supercamp, Penguin Racing, REB Graphics, Innovative Motorsports, Atlantic Cruising Yachts, Arai Helmets, Dunlop, Scott Stump, Roche Realty Group, Sportbike Track Gear, Fast by Ferracci, Barnett Clutches and Cables, Beringer Brakes, SBS, Vortex, EK Chains, Tyrant Designs CNC and all of Ben’s team and personal sponsors for all of the support, as well as his parents, family, friends, and fans!

More, from a press release issued by Hayden Bicknese Racing:

Double points finish for Hayden Bicknese in latest MotoAmerica Junior Cup round

Fifteen-year-old Hayden Bicknese may be in his first season of MotoAmerica Junior Cup competition, but the talented teen is already showing signs that he will be one to watch as he further hones his racing skills.

Named after Nicky Hayden, and sporting the 2006 MotoGP champion’s iconic #69, Bicknese currently sits twelfth overall in the 2021 MotoAmerica Junior Cup standings, a mere five points from ninth, with a brace of seventh places under his belt.

He was backing in action at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex last weekend, where he once again made big strides, finishing P11 and P12 in the two ten lap encounters, narrowly missing the top ten on both occasions. Importantly was his pace on Sunday compared to Saturday. His best lap improving by almost two seconds, in line with those at the front.

With just two rounds and four races remaining, Hayden is looking forward to ending the year strong – his aim to bag a top six finish by the time the 2021 season draws to a close.

Hayden Bicknese (69). Photo by Brian J. Nelson, courtesy Hayden Bicknese Racing.

Hayden Bicknese: “Race one went ok. I was struggling a little bit with rear grip, but I was able to pass someone on the line on the final lap. Overnight we discovered something with the front forks, and I was able to gain two seconds in warm up. I was battling with a huge group once again on Sunday and it was a fun race. We were all pushing each other, and the pace was much faster that in Race one. I was also able to pass someone right on the line again. I had a new mechanic this weekend who understands me and I think it is going to be a great end to the season now.”

The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports regret to announce the cancellation of the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix, which was set to take place at Sepang International Circuit from the 22nd to the 24th of October. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting entry restrictions for Malaysia oblige the cancellation of the event.

The FIM MotoGP™ World Championship looks forward to returning to Sepang in 2022 to race in front of our dedicated Malaysian fans.

The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports are pleased to confirm that MotoGP™ will return to Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli from the 22nd to the 24th of October, the weekend previously scheduled for the Malaysian GP, for a second Grand Prix at the classic Italian track. The name of this event will be announced in due course.

The date for the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini remains unchanged.
