MotoGP: Savadori Will Try To Race His Aprilia At Silverstone

MOTOGP RETURNS TO SILVERSTONE

ESPARGARO’: “I HAVE MISSED THIS CIRCUIT”

SAVADORI: “TOMORROW THE DOCTORS’ OK, THE GOAL IS TO RACE”

After a year of forced absence, MotoGP returns to the iconic English circuit of Silverstone. Fast, technical and fascinating, the track in the East Midlands is an excellent test bench to confirm the qualities of the new Aprilia RS-GP. The riders also appreciate the layout of Silverstone, unanimously considered a circuit as challenging as it is engaging.

In the Aprilia box alongside Aleix Espargaro’ will be the return of Lorenzo Savadori, absent from the second Austrian round after a bad crash the previous weekend. The operation on his right malleolus has been successfully completed, now the rider is waiting for the doctors’ approval (expected tomorrow morning) to get back on the bike.

ALEIX ESPARGARO’

“I have missed Silverstone. It’s a long and technical track, where you can really exploit the performance of the MotoGP bike. The last time we raced there I was pretty competitive in the race and I also think it suits the characteristics of the RS-GP well, so I’m looking forward to getting back on track.”

LORENZO SAVADORI

“I don’t know Silvesrtone well, I haven’t raced there since 2013, but it’s a fast and very nice circuit. The injury is quite recent, tomorrow I’ll undergo a check to verify the situation and receive authorization to race. I can’t wait to get back on the bike and see how the ankle reacts, both in terms of strength and pain. I’ll have to grit my teeth but I’m ready for the weekend”.

MotoGP: Crutchlow Riding Monster Energy Yamaha At Silverstone

MONSTER ENERGY YAMAHA MOTOGP TACKLE BRITISH GP WITH NEW LINE-UP

Silverstone (UK), 25th August 2021

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team is looking forward to be back on track at this weekend‘s Monster Energy British Grand Prix. Fittingly, Cal Crutchlow will be joining Fabio Quartararo in the pit box for the first time to take part in his home GP on a Factory Yamaha.

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team is going full steam ahead for this 2021 MotoGP World Championship Round 12 challenge. Both championship leader Fabio Quartararo and replacement rider Cal Crutchlow love the Silverstone Circuit and are keen to rise to the occasion, especially since the Monster Energy British Grand Prix shares the team‘s title sponsor.

Quartararo arrives in the UK holding first place in the championship standings, with a 47-point advantage over his closest rival. Though the extension of his lead after the two rounds in Austria offers the Yamaha man some breathing space, he shows no signs of slowing down.

The Frenchman is full of energy and is aiming for a British GP top-3 finish. Having never stood on the podium at Silverstone before, he would love nothing better than doing just that this weekend, the first time Monster Energy sponsors the event.

Cal Crutchlow is looking forward to stepping aboard the 2021 Factory YZR-M1 again. The Yamaha Factory Racing Test Team rider is following up his two GPs as part of PETRONAS Yamaha SRT (replacing the injured Franco Morbidelli) with a round with the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP squad.

The Brit knows the Silverstone circuit like the back of his hand and stood on the Premier Class rostrum there in 2016, having secured second place. This experience will come in useful as he sets out this weekend to help the team and Yamaha collect vital data, and support their bid for the Team and Constructor’s championship.

Silverstone was added to the MotoGP calendar in 2010 but has a racing history of over sixty years. Thanks to innovations and investments, the circuit became one of the fastest tracks on the calendar and earned high praise from the riders. There was no race held in the UK in 2020 due to the global pandemic. Those who wish to be reminded of the track‘s lay-out can do so by watching Lorenzo Daretti (Trastevere73) and Michael Amara (Vindex182)‘s friendly MotoGP eSport race.

Due to Silverstone being situated in a different time zone, the schedule for the British GP slightly differs from the usual Central European Grand Prix timetable. The FP1 and FP2 sessions will take place on Friday from 09:55 – 10:40 and 14:10 – 14:55 local track time (GMT+1). On Saturday FP3 will be held from 09:55 – 10:40, followed by FP4, Q1, and Q2 in the afternoon at 13:30 – 14:00, 14:10 – 14:25 and 14:35 – 14:50. On Sunday the Warm Up will be staged at 09:30 – 09:50, and the race is scheduled to start at 13:00.

MASSIMO MEREGALLI

TEAM DIRECTOR

We didn‘t have the opportunity to race at Silverstone last year, so we’re happy we can go there this season. Moreover, this year the British round is even more special to our team as we share the same title sponsor with the event, so we are determined to score top results. We will be putting in a lot of hard work, and we are pleased that Cal will be able to join our team for this round. We’ll have extra data coming in from someone who knows Silverstone like no other. Our goal is to score the best results possible at every weekend, and we will put in 100%, like always, to do so.

FABIO QUARTARARO

I‘m starting the British GP with a very positive mood. We extended our championship lead after Spielberg, and Silverstone is a circuit that I really love. We made a big step there in 2019 in terms of performance. I think that this race will be a good one if the conditions are good. If it rains, we’ll have to see, but in any case, we will do our best. My goal is to fight for the victory, firstly because this is one my favourite tracks and secondly because it‘s an important GP for the team.

CAL CRUTCHLOW

I am happy to be riding for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP at the British Grand Prix. It was nice to get back to riding in Austria after a long time off, so I am now looking forward to racing for the Factory Team and working with my Test Team Crew Chief Silvano Galbusera and all of the team members, that I know well.

N2/WERA National Endurance: More From PittRace

Twisted Speed Perseveres, Takes Second In N2/WERA National Endurance Series By Dunlop Race At PittRace

Twisted Speed Racing struggled through its toughest race of the year and still finished second in the N2/WERA National Endurance Series By Dunlop four-hour endurance race at PittRace, setting up a winner-takes-all finale for the 2021 season.

Dustin Dominguez took the start and battled with the eventual winners on the team’s Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000 for several laps, then suddenly started slowing, dropping as much as four seconds a lap to the leader near the end of his stint. Fears that the machine had malfunctioned proved to be unfounded, but Dominguez, who is still dealing with the aftermath of a COVID-19 infection that left him seriously ill, was struggling badly.

“Pitt is the most technical and demanding track that we visit,” says team owner Brad Burns. “Dustin, I think, is probably the best endurance racer in the country right now, but he said halfway through his stint that he couldn’t breathe. It was like he dropped an anchor.”

Taylor Knapp was originally slated to do one stint, but stepped up and did two. Meanwhile, Burns had a small technical issue that required an extra pit stop just after his stint began. While the repair was a matter of a few seconds, at the level of competition of this season’s N2/WERA endurance series, a few seconds mattered.

After all that, Twisted Speed still managed to finish second and turned the fastest lap of the race, a 1:43.215. Overall, the bike performed flawlessly, as did the Dunlop tires – the team turned its fastest lap on the 112th circuit of the track!

Second place left Twisted Speed second in the Championship chase in the Heavyweight class with a single race to go and the title going to the team that finishes ahead of the other.

MotoAmerica: Motul Sponsoring Travis Wyman For Remainder Of 2021

Travis Wyman Racing announces Motul as title sponsor for remainder of 2021 MotoAmerica season

International lubricants brand ups support for BMW team for rounds in New Jersey, Alabama in September

LAS VEGAS — The Travis Wyman Racing BMW S 1000 RR will be back in its red and black livery for the rest of the 2021 MotoAmerica season, as Motul has renewed its title sponsorship of the team for the rounds at New Jersey Motorsports Park Sept. 10-12 and Barber Motorsports Park Sept. 17-19.

The French lubricant and cleaning products manufacturer has been one of the Las Vegas resident’s sponsors since his team’s inaugural season in 2018 and was the title sponsor at the Laguna Seca round in July — an event that saw Wyman score a hard-fought Stock 1000 victory by a mere 0.032 seconds.

“Motul will forever be part of one of the most memorable moments of my racing career,” Wyman said. “I’m hoping to make even better racing memories — and hopefully lay claim to a MotoAmerica No. 1 plate — in Motul colors at the next two rounds. This is my team’s first title sponsorship deal for back-to-back rounds, and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow my team’s marketing partnership with Motul in the future.”

Founded in 1853, Motul has been at the forefront of the lubricants industry for more than a century. In addition to two-wheeled motor sports, the company also manufactures a wide range of products for automotive, marine, construction, commercial and agricultural applications. Among the company’s achievements are the development of the first semi-synthetic motor oil in the 1960s and the first fully synthetic motor oil in 1971.

“We’re excited to continue building momentum after the huge victory for Travis and Motul at Laguna Seca,” Motul Powersports Director Casey Thomas said. “The Travis Wyman Racing BMW S 1000 RR looks perfect in red, and we can’t wait to see it charging through the pack towards another podium finish.”

The Travis Wyman Racing team also will have new Motul-themed team T-shirts for sale beginning at the New Jersey Motorsports Park round.

After his Stock 1000 podium finish and spectacular save at MotoAmerica’s Superbikes at Pittsburgh round, Wyman remains in contention for the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 and Superbike Cup titles. In the Stock 1000 standings, Wyman is third in the class standings and one of four riders still mathematically eligible to clinch that title. Wyman is second in the Superbike Cup points and is just 35 points behind the class leader with six races to go this season.

Wyman will line up on the starting grid with his Motul-themed livery and leathers four times at each of the two remaining rounds – which are set to feature three Superbike Class races each.

Kenny Noyes’ Autobiography Now Available

On August 16, Kenny Noyes’ autobiography Challenges of Superbike, Moto2 and Glasgow 3 went on sale. In the book, with a prologue by three-times MotoGP world champion Wayne Rainey, Kenny recounts his extensive racing career and the arduous recovery process after the accident he suffered at MotorLand Aragón six years ago. Over the last three years, the former Moto2 World Championship rider and 2014 FIM CEV Superbike champion has combined his rehabilitation with the writing of his story.

This book talks about Kenny’s life before and after the accident. He discusses “how difficult it is to be aware of your limitations and to accept that there are things that will never be the same again.” His goal is to share with readers an inside look at motorcycle racing and, above all, to help other people and families who may be experiencing a similar situation.

Kenny sums up his intentions as follows: “With this book I want to show that there is hope and that, although the injury is very serious, there is always the possibility of improvement. I want to give guidelines to people, offer practical examples that can be useful to their families. ‘Glasgow 3’ is the lowest state of consciousness there is, deep coma. I think it is necessary to make people aware of what it means to be in a coma and that coming out of it doesn’t happen like in the movies. It is a long and complicated process.”
