American rider Nathan Bettencourt continued his impressive rookie campaign scoring points in three out of the four races in the 2026 FIM Yamaha R3 bLU cRU World Cup, with his best performance at the iconic MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain this past weekend.

Competing against some of the world’s best young motorcycle racers, Bettencourt showed steady progress throughout the weekend, demonstrating both speed and racecraft on the demanding 5.1-kilometer circuit. The Aragón round marked the second event of the championship and featured the close, slipstream-heavy racing that has become a trademark of the Yamaha R3 World Cup.

In Race 1, Bettencourt battled within a tightly packed group and crossed the finish line in 11th place, just over one second behind the race winner. The result highlighted the competitiveness of the field, with mere fractions of a second separating multiple riders at the finish. His race pace was 3rd fastest, and earned him a front row start (P3) for race 2.

Bettencourt returned on Sunday with another determined performance, getting the holeshot and holding off the other 22 riders for a few corners before getting shuffled back into the pack. He secured 13th place in Race 2, finishing 1.8 seconds behind the race winner in another dramatic draft-fest that saw numerous lead changes throughout the field.

For Bettencourt and the Bettencourt Racing team, the Aragón weekend represented another important step in the young American’s development on the international stage. Racing in a championship that features identical Yamaha R3 motorcycles, success comes down to rider skill, race strategy, and consistency—areas where Bettencourt continues to gain valuable experience.

Nathan Bettencourt: “Aragon was another new track for me, but quickly became one of my favorites, it’s super fast and flows well. This ended up being one of my best race weekends I’ve had in a while and I’m happy to be making steady improvements. It’s a really good confidence boost knowing I can be up front with the leaders”.
