Sean Dylan Kelly, age 18, was the quickest rider Saturday morning during the 25-minute warm-up session for the 79th Daytona 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

Riding his M4 Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation 1-833-CJKNOWS Suzuki GSX-R600 built by Team Hammer on Dunlop tires, Kelly lapped the 3.51-mile infield road course in 1:50.179.

Kelly told Roadracingworld.com that he was still working on choosing which rear Dunlop tire he wants to use for the race.

“We’re trying to do as many laps as possible,” said Kelly. “We’re for sure looking for more tire life.”

In spite of riding with an injured left ankle, Brandon Paasch was second-best with a 1:50.441 on his TSE Racing Yamaha YZF-R6. Paasch’s crew chief Mark Stiles said they are ready to go racing.

Defending Daytona 200 Champion Kyle Wyman, meanwhile, was not happy in spite of posting the third-fastest time, a 1:50.653, on his N2 Track Days/BobbleHeadMoto/KWR Yamaha YZF-R6. Wyman said the quickshifter on his bike was continuing to be a problem.

Rocco Landers, the 16-year-old who won the 2020 MotoAmerica Junior Cup and Twins Cup Championships, improved on his qualifying time during the warm-up session, going from 1:52.140 to 1:51.582. He finished the warm-up sixth.

The 79th Daytona 200 57-lap race is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

It can be streamed live on NBC Sports Gold’s TrackPass HERE.
