Celtic HSBK Racing Ducati rider PJ Jacobsen is being taken to a local hospital for precautionary checks, after crashing his Panigale V4 R during the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 warm-up session Sunday morning at Road America.

Jacobsen was involved in an incident in Road America’s “Canada Corner,” Turn 12, that resulted in the 15-minute session being stopped.

At 8:50 a.m. local time, Celtic HSBK Racing co-owner Barry Gilsenan told Roadracingworld.com that Jacobsen is currently in the medical center at the racetrack and will be transported to a local hospital for precautionary checks.

Gilsenan said Jacobsen should be fine but he did not comment about the likelihood of Jacobsen participating in the Stock 1000 and Superbike Cup races today.

Jacobsen is currently leading the Stock 1000 and Superbike Cup Championship point standings.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: PJ Jacobsen has been withdrawn from the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 race and removed from the grid sheet.

SECOND UPDATE: The following was posted on the HSBK Racing Instagram feed:

“Celtic / HSBK Racing Stock 1000cc rider PJ Jacobsen is out of competition for both Stock 1000cc and Superbike races scheduled for today. Due to an unfortunate incident during this morning’s warm-up session, PJ has been transported to a local area hospital for follow on evaluation. On his out lap this morning, his motorcycle caught fire heading into Canada Corner, forcing PJ to dismount at speed. The cause of the fire is being investigated and PJ has sustained minor injuries. Following an evaluation at the track medical facilities it was determined that he should be transferred to a local hospital for a more thorough examination.”
