AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE

Among the most important and widely studied properties in racing, no stone was left unturned during the development of the X-Fifteen’s aerodynamics. Designed and refined in SHOEI’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility, the X-Fifteen boasts impressive improvements in all aerodynamic performance measurables, most notably a 6.1% reduction in drag and a 1.6% reduction in lift [as compared to its predecessor].

Thanks to SHOEI’s superior shell molding technology, the bottom third of the helmet (from the chin bar to the rear of the shell) has been strategically narrowed, and together with updated rear stabilizer and rear flap designs, the balance and stability of the all-new X-Fifteen is next level. Working in unison with the newly designed rear stabilizer system and concave of the shell surface, pronounced edges on the top left and right sides of the X-Fifteen further enhance aerodynamic performance by allowing wind to stream off the helmet with minimal resistance.

During the evolution of the X-Fifteen’s 150+ profile shape iterations, SHOEI engineers focused on aerodynamic optimization while in numerous riding and racing positions. Special emphasis was placed on the enhancement of high-speed stability [tested at speeds in excess of 218 mph] while reducing the negative forces that can inhibit a rider’s performance on race day. Mission accomplished.

RACING VENTILATION

Overheating while riding and racing can have a direct impact on rider fatigue and safety, which is precisely why ventilation performance was a crucial feature while designing the X-Fifteen. Putting the helmet through its paces in SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel throughout development revealed optimal airflow in multiple riding positions, but none more important than the aerodynamic, tucked racing position.

Featuring seven (7) closable air intakes and six (6) exhaust outlets—all strategically shaped and located to maximize airflow and negative air pressure suction to the rear of the helmet—the X-Fifteen’s ventilation performance is on another level. Helping to pull cool, refreshing air through the helmet, the X-Fifteen’s EPS tunnels have been enlarged from 6mm to 10mm in depth, dramatically increasing cool-air volume and the rate of hot-air expulsion.

Additionally, significant improvements have been made to the innovative cheek pad cooling system by increasing the number of holes delivering refreshing air to the rider’s cheek area. Channels cut through the EPS liner and corresponding air holes located in the cheek pad foam work in harmony with exhaust outlets to clear warm, humid air from the rider’s face with even greater efficiency.

FIELD OF VISION

Taking a new angle on performance, the CWR-F2R shield system provides vast improvements in upper and lateral fields of vision. SHOEI engineers revised the eyeport trajectory to increase the upper field of view by 5mm without changing the position of the rider’s head inside the helmet. Though fractional by design, the resulting view through the X-Fifteen’s eyeport is significant while positioned in racing’s extreme lean angles.

Additionally, the DKS-304 PINLOCK EVO lens system is 10% larger than its predecessor and improves lateral field of vision thanks to relocated pins outside of the eyeport.

CWR-F2R SHIELD & BASE PLATE SYSTEM

The all-new CWR-F2R shield system features improved visibility, functionality and performance over its predecessor, and like all SHOEI shield systems, protects against 99% of the sun’s damaging UV rays. Thanks to SHOEI’s innovative 3D injection-molding process, the CWR-F2R shield also offers a distortion-free view throughout the entire X-Fifteen eyeport.

Highlighting a long list of updates, the CWR-F2R 2D “flat” outside surface combined with 3D technology inside offers an aggressive look with optimized visibility for a more natural view. Vortex Generators on the sides of the shield improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, and an all-new center locking mechanism helps to evenly distribute shield forces across both spring-loaded base plates.

The X-Fifteen is equipped with an exclusive two-stage shield locking system [center locking mechanism plus racing shield lock], providing optimal protection against unexpected shield releases in the event of a fall. Additionally, a newly designed trigger lock mechanism, once activated, provides even more assurance by preventing the shield from detaching during an impact or crash. The base plate system has been completely redesigned to enable smoother shield openings and closures. Combined with the latest generation window beading that prevents wind and water intrusion when the shield is locked, the CWR-F2R shield and base plate system is the most advanced on the market today.

3D MAX-DRY CUSTOM INTERIOR SYSTEM II

The X-Fifteen is equipped with a fully removable, washable, adjustable, and replaceable 3D Max-Dry Custom Interior System II. SHOEI’s exclusive Max-Dry liner material absorbs and dissipates sweat and moisture twice as fast as traditional nylon interiors, and in combination with the X-Fifteen’s superior ventilation system, keeps racers and aggressive riders alike cool and dry during intense riding sessions. Additionally, the innovative cheek pad cooling system delivers refreshing air to the rider’s cheek area thanks to channels cut through the EPS liner and air holes strategically located in several areas of the foam.

Fine-tuning your racing equipment is essential to improving performance, and the X-Fifteen’s independently adjustable 3D center pad components are no exception. Like its predecessor, each section of the center pad can be replaced with optional thicknesses to customize the fit based on head shape and performance demands. New to the X-Fifteen, however, each pocket-shaped pad has separate, removable layers that can be peeled away to further optimize the individual fit.

Similar to the X-Fourteen interior, the X-Fifteen’s cheek pad system utilizes a patented angle adjustment mechanism to change the position of the helmet by up to 4-degrees to increase the upper field of vision while tucked in extreme racing positions. In addition to innovative cooling properties, the surface area of the cheek pads has been enlarged by 16.5%, giving riders a more secure and comfortable fit, especially at high speeds.

EMERGENCY QUICK RELEASE SYSTEM (E.Q.R.S.)

The X-Fifteen is equipped with the SHOEI-exclusive Emergency Quick Release System that allows emergency medical personnel to easily remove the cheek pads from an injured rider’s helmet. With the cheek pads removed, the helmet can be safely lifted from a rider’s head without creating unnecessary strain in the neck area.

MULTI-PLY MATRIX AIM+ SHELL

Few characteristics of a motorcycle helmet are as critical as its first-layer of defense, which is precisely why the all-new X-Fifteen features the SHOEI-exclusive Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ Shell construction. Combining a six-ply matrix of fiberglass with lightweight organic and high-performance fibers, the X-Fifteen’s proprietary AIM+ shell provides optimal impact-absorption, strength and elasticity, and is available in four shell sizes to ensure a custom fit for heads between the sizes of XS-XXL. The X-Fifteen is both Snell M2020R and ECE22.06 certified.

MULTI-PIECE MULTI-DENSITY EPS LINER

The X-Fifteen’s Multi-Piece, Multi-Density EPS liner boasts optimized impact absorption by utilizing varying densities of foam in key areas around the rider’s head. In addition to impact performance, the precise placement of multi-density EPS liner material yields a more compact, lightweight design, further accentuating the X-Fifteen’s safety and comfort properties.

Contributing greatly to the X-Fifteen’s unrivaled ventilation performance, the multi-piece EPS liner features strategically-located tunnels that allow cooling air to travel unrestricted through the helmet. Enlarged from 6mm to 10mm deep [as compared to the X-Fourteen], the X-Fifteen’s superior ventilation characteristics have been further enhanced without compromising an ounce of safety.

Also new to the X-Fifteen, a small channel in the front chin bar area has been strategically designed to guide and receive hydration systems, including the all-new optional SHOEI Hydration Tube.

AMA Creates New Departments, Renews Focus On Membership Support

American Motorcyclist Association Expands Marketing and Communications, Refocuses Resources on Membership Analysis and Support

Joy Burgess appointed to new role of Director of Marketing & Communications

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association is creating a new Marketing & Communications Department with a dedicated director position, while simultaneously establishing a razor-focused Department of Membership that will drive the quality and responsiveness of member retention and services.

“Effective marketing work is done through many channels — digital, print, direct mail and in the real world of events, all with an eye on both big data and individual member feedback,” said AMA Chief Operating Officer James Holter. “Previously, these responsibilities were consolidated in the Membership Marketing & Services Department. That was the right structure at the time, but opportunity calls for a new approach that better leverages AMA resources and gives our directors more support to grow the AMA with expanded outreach, broader engagement and improved member service.”

Joy Burgess, previously Deputy Director of Communications and Managing Editor, will be responsible for creative marketing efforts, public relations, corporate communications, volunteer outreach and recreational riding activity. She will continue to contribute to AMA editorial channels, including American Motorcyclist magazine, as needed.

“Our job will be simple: to tell more motorcyclists about the AMA and to tell more non-riders about motorcycling. We will deliver that message in many ways, across a variety of media,” Burgess said. “I’m looking forward to expanding my team with the right people to help get that job done.”

Burgess is currently searching for a Corporate Communications Specialist, Event Manager and Associate Sales Representative to expand AMA capabilities in those areas.

Amanda Donchess, who served as Director of Membership Marketing and Services, takes on the role of Director of Membership, where she will focus on member retention, support, fulfillment, quality control and data analytics.

“Retaining a member begins the day that member joins the association,” Donchess said. “First and foremost, we must deliver on our brand promise, exceeding member expectations for service and fulfillment. I’m excited to grow our capacity in these areas with better market research, data analysis and simply listening in new and better ways on how we can excel.”

“One of the most effective ways to engage members — and generate new ones — is with compelling storytelling, and that’s what we do in American Motorcyclist magazine,” Boehm said. “Our editorial has become some of the best in motorcycling over the past two years, and we’re just getting started. The future will see not just a continued dedication to world-class print moto-journalism, but a new AmericanMotorcyclist.com that will bring the same engaging and quality content to an audience of AMA members and future members.”

The American Motorcyclist Association has been defending motorcyclists’ freedoms and promoting opportunities to ride and race for 99 years. AMA members enjoy several member-only benefits, including exclusive deals and discounts, as well as access to AMA amateur competition events. The AMA is the sanctioning body for both MotoAmerica, home of the AMA Superbike Championship, and AMA Supercross, the most popular supercross championship on the planet. Through the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, the AMA preserves and promotes the rich history of motorcycling in America and keeps motorcycling history alive for future generations.

About the American Motorcyclist Association

Founded in 1924, the AMA is a not-for-profit member-based association whose mission is to promote the motorcycle lifestyle and protect the future of motorcycling. As the world’s largest motorcycling rights and event sanctioning organization, the AMA advocates for riders’ interests at all levels of government and sanctions thousands of competition and recreational events every year. Besides offering members money-saving discounts on products and services, the AMA also publishes American Motorcyclist, a recently revitalized and monthly full-color magazine (and digital version of same) that covers current events and motorcycle history with brilliant photography and compelling writing. American Motorcyclist is also North America’s largest-circulation magazine. Canadian Superbike: GP Bikes Sponsoring Premier Class

GP Bikes to sponsor feature Pro Superbike class in 2023

Toronto, ON – The premier class of Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship racing will return with a title sponsor from 2023, as GP Bikes will back the feature Pro Superbike category this season.

The Whitby-based powersports retailer and motorcycle specialists are the first sponsor of the main Superbike class since 2019, and are excited to partner with the biggest stars in the Bridgestone CSBK paddock and the quest for the annual Canada Cup.

Founded in nearby Ajax in 2000, GP Bikes initially began “with 5 used motorcycles, a 1200 square foot facility in Ajax, one employee, and a dream,” and has since grown into one of Canada’s biggest and most renowned motorcycle distributors. The company moved to Whitby in 2011, expanding their facility to over 40,000 feet and are still expanding further today.

Aside from offering a range of other powersports products, GP Bikes also sells Ducati, Triumph, KTM, Husqvarna, and Honda machines, consistently ranking as one of the top Ducati and Triumph dealers in the country. Currently, they are expanding their lineup to include BMW and MV Agusta motorcycles.

Now well-established in the consumer market, GP Bikes and president Jerry Ordanis are hoping to grow their brand in the Canadian racing world.

“GP Bikes is thrilled to be partnering more closely with the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship in 2023, in what should be a thrilling season in the GP Bikes Pro Superbike class for both riders and fans,” said Ordanis.

As the top level of national motorcycle racing in Canada, the now-titled GP Bikes Pro Superbike class is home to all of the sport’s biggest names, including two-time and defending champion Ben Young, his rival and 2021 champion Alex Dumas, and 14-time crown winner Jordan Szoke.

One of the lone “original” classes that has stayed on the CSBK calendar since its launch in 1980, the feature category has seen 16 different riders take the coveted #1 plate across 43 seasons, with Szoke’s mark of 14 and Kawasaki’s 16 the most among them.

The new sponsorship will come at the perfect time for GP Bikes as well, with the 2023 campaign expected to be one of the best in Pro Superbike history. The hopeful return of Szoke, partnered with his new rookie teammate Trevor Dion, and the renewed battle between Young and Dumas will be just some of the storylines to watch this summer.

Outside of the feature Superbike class, GP Bikes will also be sponsoring Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike title contender and fan-favourite Elliot Vieira as he joins Ducati in 2023. A double race winner and third-overall finisher in 2022, Vieira will look to capture his first Pro title this season with the help of GP Bikes’ support.

The Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship season will officially kick off at Shannonville Motorsport Park on May 19-21, with eleven feature GP Bikes Pro Superbike races, all broadcast on TSN, between now and September to decide the Canada Cup winner and the National, overall number one plate.

Yamaha Releases Two New “BOOSTER” eBikes

Yamaha launches two new electric Urban Mobility models

BOOSTER Easy eBike and BOOSTER S-pedelec, available in spring 2023

The Yamaha’s diverse range of class-leading Urban Mobility models is further expanded with the launch of two new electric models, the BOOSTER Easy eBike and the BOOSTER S-pedelec electric.

Following the company’s recent announcements regarding the new NEO’s electric scooter as well as the introduction of the Moro 07, Wabash and Crosscore eBikes, the launch of these innovative and stylish new BOOSTER models underlines Yamaha’s ongoing commitment towards establishing itself as one of the major brands in the European 2-wheel EV market.

Initiated at the beginning of 2022, Yamaha’s Switch ON strategy represents the beginning of an exciting new era in the design and production of the next generation of electric vehicles. Many commuters are now actively seeking zero emission personal transportation, and the growing range of electric Yamaha models offers a clean, reliable and efficient solution for commuting, leisure and sporting applications.

Created with Yamaha’s 30 years of EV experience

Yamaha introduced the world’s first production eBike in 1993, and now, 30 years later, the premium Japanese brand is at the forefront of the development, design and manufacture of zero emission 2-wheel electric scooters, eBikes and pedelecs. Yamaha is also a key manufacturer of drive units that power many brands of eBikes produced by other manufacturers. At the same time as being a major producer of zero emission vehicles that help to contribute towards a cleaner environment, Yamaha has also accelerated its programme to become a carbon neutral manufacturer by 2035.

New BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER

Yamaha’s new BOOSTER Easy eBike and BOOSTER S-pedelec electric have been developed in Europe to meet the rapidly increasing demand for clean, quiet and accessible urban transport. A few decades ago, Yamaha’s legendary BW’s scooter – along with the best-selling MBK Booster – captured the imagination of a generation of younger riders who were looking for fun and freedom on two wheels. Powered by a class-leading Yamaha drive unit and featuring a rugged and timeless chassis design, the new electric BOOSTER models are designed to offer the today’s urban dwellers an easy, enjoyable and affordable way to move around their towns and cities with zero emissions.

BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER: What’s the difference?

Yamaha’s new BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER look virtually identical and are technically very similar, sharing the same lightweight chassis design. The difference is in their performance: BOOSTER Easy is an eBike with a maximum pedal assisted speed of 25km/h, while the BOOSTER is an AM licence S-pedelec or electric moped that can power to a maximum pedal assisted speed of 45km/h.

Contemporary and minimalistic design

Fun to ride, simple to maintain and accessible to an extremely wide and diverse range of customers of all ages and backgrounds, the BOOSTER models are the spiritual successors to the original ‘fat tyre’ 50cc Yamaha and MBK scooters that played a big part in the lives of thousands of European teenagers growing up in the 1980s and 90s.

The contemporary and minimalist design features an exposed diecast aluminium front frame as well as spoked wheels with fat 20” x 4” tyres, and a classic U-frame configuration that makes getting on and off so easy.   Driven by an ultra-compact and lightweight Yamaha PW-S2 drive unit that delivers seamless power, the new BOOSTER models are ready to make every part of the metropolis easily accessible to the new generation of riders who live, work and play in the city.

Exclusive Yamaha body components

The BOOSTER models benefit from a range of exclusive chassis components that add extra fun and functionality to the look and feel of these new zero emission vehicles. The front end of the bike features Yamaha-exclusive fork covers, a front plate cover and front mudguard as well as a Supernova headlight to give a sleek and coordinated look.

Cables are hidden away behind ducts for cleaner lines, and a chain cover and engine covers underline the BOOSTERS’ high quality of finish. The rear carrier provides plenty of carrying space, and both models feature an adjustable Royal Orbis seat and Integrated Koso LED taillight.

Comfortable and agile, perfect for urban mobility

The BOOSTER models represent the next generation in urban mobility and are amongst the most accessible powered two wheel models available today. Riding comfort is assured on uneven road surfaces thanks to the fat 20” x 4” tyres that offer excellent grip on different road surfaces. The adjustable seat height enables riders of varying sizes to find their ideal riding position – and, together with the shock absorbing high-profile tyres, the smooth front suspension soaks up the bumps. As well as offering easy ingress, the strong and simple U-frame design with its unique diecast aluminium front section ensures a low centre of gravity for Easy agility, making this zero emission 2-wheeler the smarter way to move.

Smooth and reliable Yamaha power

Yamaha has 30 years worth of experience in the design and manufacture of high-tech eBike drive units, and the BOOSTER models are equipped with the very latest PWseries S2 motor that is one of the most sophisticated designs in the class. Developed with the philosophy that ‘less is more’ the quiet-running PWseries S2 drive unit is extremely light and compact, weighing just 2.85 kg.

Producing 75Nm, the PWseries S2 has one of the highest torque-to-weight ratios in its class, giving the BOOSTER smooth and natural acceleration. In addition to its seamless power delivery, this reliable high-tech design also benefits from a number of class leading electronic control technologies that deliver an enjoyable and refined riding experience. Yamaha’s Zero Cadence technology provides instant assistance as soon as pedalling input is sensed, and the Automatic Support Mode provides additional power assistance when necessary – such as on hills or into headwinds – to ensure an easier and enjoyable riding experience.

Riders can also select the Zero Mode that completely disengages the drive unit and solely uses pedal power – and the Walk Assist Mode makes pushing the vehicle easy in situations such as pedestrian only zones where riding is not permitted.

630 Wh 36V Yamaha battery

Both the BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER are equipped with a 630Wh 36V battery that provides the PWseries S2 drive unit with an instant and reliable supply of power. The quickly detachable unit is located centrally for easy access as well as centralising mass for agile and responsive handling – and battery charging can be carried out both in-situ and remotely if the unit is removed.

Performance and range

BOOSTER Easy has a top assisted speed of 25km/h to comply with European eBike legislation – and riders can select the Zero mode for faster pedal-only riding on downhills. Five modes are available – +ECO, ECO, STD, HIGH and AUTO, enabling the rider to choose the appropriate setting to suit the local terrain and their individual range requirements.

The torque ratio supplied by the Yamaha drive unit is set at 50% for +ECO mode and goes up to 280% in HIGH mode, and the typical range with a 75 kg rider is up to 120 km in +ECO mode through to 60 km in HIGH mode.

BOOSTER is being classed as an electric moped (L1e) riders requires an AM licence and the appropriate insurance. The +ECO, ECO, STD, HIGH and AUTO modes can be selected by the rider to match the conditions, and a range of 110 km(+ECO mode) up to 50km (HIGH mode) can be achieved with a 75kg rider.

The torque ratio supplied by the Yamaha drive unit starts at 60% in +ECO mode and increases to 400% in HIGH mode, giving this electric moped a drive unit assistance reducing at 40km/h and stopping before 45km/h.

Intuitive user interfaces

BOOSTER is equipped with the latest centrally located Yamaha Display C user interface featuring a large 2.8″ full colour dot matrix TFT display and a separate control switch. Information displayed includes battery capacity, riding speed, assist mode, range, clock, trip distances, cadence, calorie consumption and time. A range of fitness and navigation apps can be accessed by connecting a Smartphone via Bluetooth® to enhance the overall riding experience.

BOOSTER Easy features Yamaha’s simple to read Display A interface that’s equipped with a 1.7″ LCD screen. Its basic design features integral buttons, and ‘always on’ information includes speedometer, battery capacity indicator and assist mode, as well as selectable trip meter, odometer and range.

MotoGP: Oliveira Will Miss French GP Due To Arm Injury

Oliveira withdraws from French GP; Savadori to step in for CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team

CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team’s Miguel Oliveira has unfortunately been forced to withdraw from the upcoming French Grand Prix due to a shoulder injury sustained during the Spanish Grand Prix. While immediate medical attention successfully repositioned his dislocated left shoulder, further assessments revealed a more severe injury, including a fracture in the humerus and an anterior ligamentous labrum injury.

Although Oliveira and his doctors have decided against surgery, he will need to focus on the healing process and will not be able to participate in the French round. The team wishes him a speedy recovery and looks forward to welcoming him back for the Italian GP.

In Oliveira’s absence, he will be replaced by Lorenzo Savadori. As the official Aprilia test rider, Savadori has already had the opportunity to get accustomed to the team and conditions during the official MotoGP test at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto on Monday.

The entire CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team remains focused and committed to achieving success on the track, even with this setback.

WorldSBK: Ducati Renews Bautista Through 2024

Alvaro Bautista to continue aboard the factory Panigale V4R of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team in the 2024 WorldSBK season

The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team is pleased to announce the contract extension of Alvaro Bautista who will be riding the official Ducati Panigale V4R also in the 2024 WorldSBK season.

Returning to wear the colors of Aruba.it and Ducati in the 2022 season after his WorldSBK debut in 2019, Alvaro Bautista was crowned World Champion last year at the end of an exciting ride made up of 16 wins and 31 total podiums.

After the first three rounds of the 2023 season, Bautista is firmly leading the standings with 174 points (56 ahead of his closest rival), and a few days ago, at the Assen circuit (Holland), he was the absolute protagonist with the hat-trick that gave Ducati its historic 400th WorldSBK victory.

Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #1)

“After 21 years spent in the elite of world motorcycling, in the paddocks of MotoGP and Superbike, I now feel in excellent shape, both physically and mentally. I can say that I am in the best moment of my career: I have a lot of fun riding the bike and I have the pleasure of working with a team that I consider a second family. By the way, on a personal level, my family is getting bigger, and the babies are growing up and that is why the decision to race in 2024 was a choice I wanted to make together with them. We decided to continue and I’m very happy to stay with the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team with whom I’ve always had a wonderful relationship. I am happy that they still want me, even though I am a little old. One more year together, with the hope of keeping the fantastic feeling with the bike, the certainty of an extraordinary working relationship, and, of course, the goal of aiming at great results”

Stefano Cecconi (Team Principal Aruba.it Racing – Ducati)

“We are extremely happy to have extended our relationship with Alvaro and it will be a pleasure to continue a collaboration that has always been excellent both on a professional and human level. Alvaro has brought our team the first great success, the one we have been chasing since 2015, when we decided to embark on this fascinating adventure with Ducati; but instead of giving us only satisfaction, this success is spurring us to do even more. The determination and commitment that have allowed us to achieve this target have also ensured excellent results in the first 3 rounds of the current season: our common goal is, therefore, to continue in this direction in order to achieve other important successes together in the future”.

Luigi Dall’Igna (General Manager Ducati Corse)

“The world title win, but also the sensational start to the season that we have witnessed this year, are yet another demonstration of the magical moment that Bautista is going through. Alvaro is a very talented and experienced rider and with our Panigale V4 R, he has found a fantastic balance that currently allows him to make a real difference. We are therefore very happy to be able to continue with him in 2024. Now the goal is to stay focused on the current season and try to maintain this positive trend in the future as well.”

I was the only American to have ever raced the Cuba Cup races through the city streets of Havana, Cuban on the Canadian team in the 1976 and 1977. I have always said that I wasn’t a great racer but I was good enough to be there racing among and against world champions.

“Running and developing the USCRA as a club has been my passion for the past 43 years, It has provided FUN and safe racing to hundreds to riders over the years for riders from sixteen to 85+ years of age.  The USCRA embodies the concept of fun and competitive racing in a family atmosphere of people helping people enjoy the sport. Make no mistake, the USCRA states the concept that racing motorcycles can be a very dangerous sport that one must enter it on his own terms. Volunteerism is the backbone and strength of the club. Unbelievably, n 43 years there has never been an official protest registered at an event. That speaks volumes of the participants and their willingness to promote fun, safe and competitive racing.”

Born in 1945, Robert Coy grew up in a racing family in Chappaqua, N.Y., first getting the racing bug when he attended his first sports car race in the back luggage well of his father’s 1949 MG TC at the age of five.

Coy began his competition career racing go-karts in 1958, and went on to race motorcycles beginning in 1965, getting started racing scrambles and flat track and, later, road racing with the AAMRR organization. and CMA of Canada. He progressed to professional status in the late 1960s, in AMA racing. Through his 45-plus years of racing he raced TZ Yamahas, AMA Superbikes, AMA National Sidecars, AMA Battle of the Twins, competing in international races in Canada, South America, the Caribbean, Cuba, Italy, and Japan.

In 1976, Coy founded and organized the first vintage motorcycle road races in North America at Bridgehampton NY with fellow enthusiast Rob Ianucci. In 1980, he formed the United States Classic Racing Association (USCRA), for which he is still the Director. The USCRA conducts vintage road racing events, including the FIM/NAMU North America Vintage Road Race Championships.

In addition to the USCRA, Bob’s achievements in classic racing are numerous:

Mitch Boehm continues to direct the editorial content of the AMA, including American Motorcyclist magazine and AmericanMotorcyclist.com. Keaton Maisano has been promoted to Managing Editor for the association and reports directly to Boehm.

Omnichannel: a seamless buying experience for Yamaha BOOSTER customers

To ensure that every customer experiences the highest levels of satisfaction from their initial enquiry right through to the purchase and delivery of their new BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER, Yamaha has developed an Omnichannel distribution system that delivers a seamless buying experience from start to finish.

The heart of the system is a new e-commerce platform working in partnership with the new network of eBike Experience Centres operating within Yamaha’s existing European PTW network. The key advantage of the Omnichannel system is that customers can visit a Yamaha eBike Experience Centre to see and feel the eBike, take a test ride and seek advice from the fully trained dealer personnel before placing their order with confidence.

Once they have chosen their new BOOSTER the customer can go online to confirm their purchase and arrange home delivery (only for BOOSTER Easy) or pick up at the dealer. This new industry-leading system is designed to offer customers the best combination of on site and online services – and Omnichannel removes the uncertainty that is sometimes associated with a purely virtual sales experience where there is no physical element or human interaction.
