AHRMA: Joyce, Spargo Split Vintage Cup Wins At Heartland Motorsports Park

Spargo and Joyce Swap AHRMA Wins in the Heartland of America

(May 31, Knoxville, TN)  A two-stroke versus four-stroke duel that started in the 70’s continues forty years later in the 2023 American Historic Motorcycle Racing Associations (AHRMA) Vintage Cup.

Sponsored by Hagerty Insurance, Roadracingworld.com, and NYC Norton (nycnorton.com), AHRMA’s 2023 Vintage Cup features the Formula 750 (F750) class which includes 750cc two and four-stroke powered machines built up to 1972.

The fifth and sixth rounds of the 2023 Bridgestone Tires National Road racing series landed squarely in the middle of America at the Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, KS.

The F750 podium both days featured one of the largest and one of the smallest motorcycle manufacturers with Christopher Spargo on a Yamaha RD400, Tim Joyce on NYC Norton’s Seely NRE (Nourish Racing Engineering), and Brian Filo riding a Yamaha XS 650 punched out to 750cc in a custom road racing chassis.

In previous years, lap times for the front-runners in the class were just below the 2 minute mark.  On Saturday, Joyce and Spargo turned laps in in the 1:55 range – an impressive feat when racing motorcycles with pre-1972 specifications.  Joyce and Spargo traded the lead several times.  Spargo had better acceleration out of the corners and used it to his advantage through the last series of turns to take the lead and prevent Joyce from drafting for the win.

“This year’s Vintage Cup races at Kansas provided all the action we had hoped for, as I believe the top four riders cut laps faster than last year’s F750 winning time.  No doubt the riders are digging deep and making their best efforts, ” said Carl Anderson, AHRMA’s 2023 Chairman of the Board.

While there was excitement happening up front, there was a three-bike dual for third place between Filo, Colton Roberts on a Yamaha RD400 and Jeff Hargis riding a Yamaha XS 750.  Filo was able to secure the third place position and held on to it for the checkered flag taking the third step on the podium.

The rest of the field consisted of a spectrum of motorcycles unlike any other class, with Brian Larrabure on a beautiful Ducati 750SS Imola replica, Walt Fulton on a vintage Harley XR750 and Patrick Hanson on a BSA Lightning.

The balance of the grid included, in order of finishing, Larrabure, Mike Dixon riding a 1970 Yamaha XS, Dan Sokolich on his Yamaha RD400, Fulton and Hanson.

For the race on Sunday, Joyce got the hole shot and led flag to flag putting in a series of laps in the low 1:53 range.  Spargo responded with a 1:52.8 time for the last lap, but it was too little too late, with Joyce taking the checkered for the win and Spargo close behind in second place.

The fight for third was similar to Saturday with Filo, Roberts and Hargis duking it out with Filo taking the checkered for third followed by Roberts in fourth and Hargis in fifth.  The rest of the field finished in the following order:  Larrabure, David Crussell, racing a 1972 Kawasaki H2R, Dixon, Sokolich, Fulton and Hanson.

“As the class sponsor, I try to be as objective as possible, but I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I said I didn’t want NYC Norton’s rider, Tim Joyce, to go out and put on a good show,” said Kenny Cummings of NYC Norton.  “I want to acknowledge Chris Spargo for turning this into a legitimate dog fight and living up to the NYC Norton slogan showing that you can’t fake a fast lap and no one is going to be able to phone this championship in.”

The annual Vintage Cup spotlights one of AHRMA’s road racing classes with extra attention on competitors in the selected class during each race event. Enhanced awards for the Vintage Cup competitors are presented separately from other class trophies during the Saturday awards ceremony at each AHRMA National Road Race event.

Highlights from each Formula 750 race will be reported in RoadracingWorld.com’s online edition. At the conclusion of each season, the perpetual Vintage Cup trophy will be engraved with the national champion winner’s name and presented to the winner at the National Awards Banquet to keep for one year.

MotoAmerica: Road America’s Repaved Four-Mile Course Awaits (Updated)

It’s Sure To Be Fast Times At Road America With MotoAmerica

A Repaved Road America Should Bear Record Speeds In Wisconsin For The Men Of The Medallia Superbike Championship

IRVINE, CA (May 31, 2023) – Although a new lap record on the fast and newly repaved Road America this coming weekend is almost a given, the rest of the results from the MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship weekend on the four-mile circuit located on the outskirts of the lakeside resort town of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, promise to be anything but a certainty.

While Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha’s Jake Gagne arrives in Wisconsin with a three-race win streak and a 21-point lead in the championship, there’s already talk of Road America, with its two long straightaways, being a track that will favor the fast but not-so-nimble BMW M 1000 RR and the also-fast Ducati Panigale V4 R over the steadfast Yamaha YZF-R1. There’s also the fact that the top gun thus far on the BMW is none other than five-time Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier, who also happens to be the all-time winningest rider at Road America with his 10 Superbike victories at “America’s National Park of Speed.”

But first things first and the first thing that’s talked about with the Medallia Superbike Championship is the man atop the series standings and that man is Gagne. Although the two-time defending class champion had issues last year at Road America that resulted in him finishing a lackluster (for him) fifth and fourth in the two races after arriving on a three-race win streak, Gagne rarely finishes off the podium and he’s yet to do so thus far in 2023.

Beaten in the opening race of the season by Tytlers Cycle Racing’s Beaubier and the BMW, Gagne has won the past three races (race two at Road Atlanta and both races at Barber Motorsports Park a few short weeks ago) and arrives, as always, as the rider to beat.

Beaubier finished off the podium for the first time in race one at Barber but bounced back with a fighting third in race two. He comes to Road America trailing Gagne by 21 points, 95-74, and needs to turn the tables on his former teammate to make the gap more manageable.

Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz, who won race two last year at Road America on his Yamaha YZF-R1, is third in the title chase coming into Road America, a further 11 points behind Gagne and 14 points ahead of Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati’s Josh Herrin.

Herrin has one podium finish in the four races held thus far, but Road America should be a good track for the Panigale V4 R to stretch its legs. Last year, Danilo Petrucci put the Italian bike on the podium twice at Road America and led the championship when the series left Wisconsin.

Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Richie Escalante is off to a good start in his sophomore season on the Suzuki GSX-R1000R Superbike as he seems to gain confidence with every race. The former MotoAmerica Supersport Champion finished fourth the last time he threw his leg over the Suzuki in race two at Barber. He trails Herrin by just six points.

Gagne’s teammate Cameron Petersen has had a difficult start to his 2023 season, and it got worse on the Monday after Barber when he crashed during a test day and suffered a wrist injury. Petersen, with a fourth and a second in the two races he did finish, is 62 points behind his teammate after two DNFs in four races.

Tytlers Cycle Racing’s Corey Alexander is tied with Petersen in points with his consistent start to his first full-time Medallia Superbike season. Alexander is just one point better than his teammate PJ Jacobsen, who joins Petersen as the only two riders in the top 10 to card a DNF. Jacobsen’s DNF came in the first race of the season when he crashed out of race one at Road Atlanta.

Vision Wheel ECSTAR Suzuki’s Toni Elias is also off to a slow start with and uncharacteristic seventh-, eighth-, 13th- and ninth-place finishes in the four races. Elias is ninth in the series standings, four points behind Jacobsen and four ahead of Disrupt Racing’s Hayden Gillim.

Pre-Road America Superbike Notes

Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz and Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha’s Cameron Petersen were victorious in last year’s two races at Road America, though it was Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci who left with the biggest points haul (and the championship points lead) after second and third-place finishes on the Panigale V4 R in 2022.

Although Jake Gagne was off the podium in both races last year, he did start the two races from pole position, though his 2:10.617 qualifying time was just off his lap record from 2021 of 2:10.529. With race conditions less than ideal, no one came close to Gagne’s best race lap of 2:10.998 from 2021.

As mentioned earlier, five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier is the rider with the most Superbike wins at Road America with his 10 victories, one better than Australian Mat Mladin and two better than Josh Hayes.

Active MotoAmerica racers with Superbike victories at Road America other than Beaubier and Hayes (who is now racing in the Supersport class) are Toni Elias, Jake Gagne, Mathew Scholtz, Cameron Petersen and Bobby Fong (who is now racing in the Mission King Of The Baggers class).

Jake Gagne’s two victories at Barber Motorsports Park were the 31st and 32nd of his Superbike career and moved him into a tie with Miguel Duhamel and Toni Elias for fourth on the all-time AMA Superbike win list.

Cameron Beaubier’s next Medallia Superbike win will be his 56th and will put him just five short of Josh Hayes, who sits second on the all-time list with 61 wins to Mat Mladin’s 82 Superbike victories.

Hayes, meanwhile, continues to chase the all-time AMA road race win record as he is currently tied with Miguel Duhamel with 86 wins across all classes. Hayes will be aboard his Squid Hunter Racing Yamaha YZF-R6 in the two Supersport races at Road America. Beaubier, meanwhile, lurks in fourth on the all-time list with 76 wins – 10 behind Duhamel and Hayes.

As far as manufacturers go, Yamaha has the most wins at Road America with 26 followed by Suzuki with 18, Honda (12), Ducati (eight) and Kawasaki (four). Yamaha had won seven of eight races until Suzuki swept both races in 2019 with Toni Elias and Josh Herrin. In 2020, however, Beaubier and Yamaha chalked up three more wins before Bobby Fong gave Suzuki another victory in race two in the June event. In 2021, Jake Gagne gave Yamaha two more victories in America’s Dairyland and last year Mathew Scholtz and Cameron Petersen both earned their wins on Yamaha YZF-R1s.

Three-time World Champion Freddie Spencer won the first-ever AMA Superbike race at Road America in 1980. Spencer will be on hand this weekend in his new role as mentor/coach for Royal Enfield and its Build. Train. Race. program.

The two Medallia Superbike races will start at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The two races will be preceded by the Supersport races (2:10 p.m.) and followed by the two Mission King Of The Baggers races (4:05 p.m.).

Tulsa, OK – May 31, 2023 – Round three of the 2023 MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship starts this Friday at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and the annual visit to “America’s National Park of Speed” is always a highlight of the season for Mathew Scholtz and the entire Westby Racing team.

This year, the Road America round is even more highly anticipated than ever because of two very good reasons: 1) Mathew and the team are returning to the track where they notched a victory in Superbike race one last year, and 2) Road America’s 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course has been completely repaved. And motorcycle road racers like nothing better than newly paved, ribbony-smooth asphalt.

Mathew is currently ranked third in the Championship points standings behind Cameron Beaubier in second and Jake Gagne in third, and he knows that Road America is a critically important round, even at this early stage in the season.

“We’ve had success at Road America,” Mathew said. “And it’s a road course and location that I like a lot. There’s just something about racing in Wisconsin that suits me. It’s a horsepower track, where top speed plays an advantage. We’re hopeful that our new software package and engine build will do the trick this weekend.”

Superbike final qualifying is on Saturday morning at 10:45 CT, Superbike race one will go green on Saturday afternoon at 3:10 CT, and Superbike race two is on Sunday afternoon also at 3:10 CT. Both races will be broadcast live on MotoAmerica’s YouTube Channel.

For all the action from Road America, as it happens, subscribe to MotoAmerica Live+, which is MotoAmerica’s live streaming and on-demand service.

Meet Mathew, Get An Autographed Poster, And More

Mathew will be available for autographs during the Dunlop Hot Pit Walk & Autograph Session, scheduled for 11 to 11:40 a.m. Sunday on pit lane at Road America. He and the team will be handing out free posters and T-shirts, so don’t miss it.

Josh Herrin and Xavi Forés Head North to Road America to Challenge Grid Aboard Their Warhorse HSBK Ducati Panigales

Sunnyvale, Calif., May 31, 2023 — The Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC duo of Josh Herrin and Xavi Forés head north to Wisconsin’s Road America, a long, four-mile circuit with 14 turns that has challenged the best of the best for over 60 years. The team arrives in Elkhart Lake following some dominating results last round for Forés and mixed results for Herrin.

During round 2 May 19-21 at Alabama’s Barber Motorsports Park, Xavi Forés impressed at MotoAmerica’s first-ever Supersport “Extended” race, a 37-lap long race that occurred Saturday instead of the typical double race format.

Although he dealt with multiple red flags, the Spaniard made it look easy on the #12 Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V2, grabbing his third-straight win in the MotoAmerica Supersport series. Barber’s race was double points, and Forés now has 100 points, 27 ahead of Kawasaki’s Stefano Mesa and 46 ahead of Yamaha’s Josh Hayes.

Herrin’s weekend at Barber didn’t go as smoothly as Forés. The 2022 MotoAmerica Supersport Champion claimed sixth in both races aboard his #2 Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V4 R, citing tire issues that affected most of the Superbike grid. Heading into round three of nine, Herrin is fifth in the point standings, 49 behind Yamaha’s Jake Gagne.

Josh Herrin (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – Ducati Panigale V4 R – #2):

“Road America has always been an excellent track for me, and I think it’ll suit the Ducati V4 R pretty well, especially with the new pavement.” Herrin said. “We’re looking forward to getting to Road America and letting the V4 R show its strength, which is under hard braking and accelerating on the track’s long straightaways. Because we’re in Wisconsin, I also got a special cheese-themed helmet for this weekend that we’ll be rolling out on Friday. I’m also just as excited to go and hang out with all the fans in Wisconsin. There’s always a great crowd there, and hopefully, we can get some good results like we did in Atlanta.”

Xavi Forés (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – Ducati Panigale V2 – #12):

“As usual, it will be another discovery weekend as this is another new track for me. Despite that, though, I feel really confident about some solid race performances as we head back into the Supersport Saturday/Sunday format rather than that one long race at Barber. I feel strong on the Panigale V2, especially on race pace. We have a good package! Hopefully, the weather will stay warm and nice, and we can enjoy another victory and more points.”

On-track action for the third round of the 2023 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship kicks off Friday morning. Forés will take to the track for Supersport FP1 at 9:45 CDT a.m. on Friday, June 2, while Herrin will be on track for Superbike FP1 at 11:15 a.m.

Aprilia All Stars At Misano Raises Money For Flood Relief Efforts

APRILIA AND THE PIAGGIO GROUP DONATE €200,000 TO THE CIVIL PROTECTION FOR THE COMMUNITIES OF EMILIA ROMAGNA AFFECTED BY THE FLOODS

THANKS TO OVER FIFTEEN THOUSAND FANS WHO FLOCKED TO MISANO, APRILIA ALL STARS BRINGS SPECIAL AID TO EMILIA ROMAGNA’S MOTOR VALLEY

APRILIA RACING’S MOTOGP RIDERS WERE PROTAGONISTS OF THE SOLIDARITY RACE BOTH ON TRACK AND IN THE PADDOCK, IN AN EVENT FEATURING CHARITY AUCTIONS OF COVETED RACING MEMORABILIA

Misano Adriatico, 27 May 2023 – Aprilia fans produced a great show of support for Emilia Romagna whose Motor Valley holds a place in the heart of every bike racing enthusiast. More than fifteen thousand converged en masse to the Misano World Circuit paddock for the Aprilia All Stars, a major event for bike fans and a meeting of solidarity, aimed at providing specific aid to the flood-affected communities.

The festive motorcycling atmosphere of Aprilia All Stars proved a perfect match for the solidarity race, aided by the presence of the Italian Navy and their awe-inspiring helicopters, who have played a key role in the relief efforts in Emilia Romagna.

The thousands of fans were greeted by the on-track spectacle from the MotoGP riders featuring Aprilia riders Aleix Espargaró, Maverick Viñales, Lorenzo Savadori, Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez. Rubbing shoulders with them were true legends of the calibre of Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi and Alex Gramigni, all world champions with Aprilia. Radio DeeJay and M2O were on hand to supply the entertainment to the paddock with music and events.

The Piaggio Group and Aprilia have donated a sum of €10 for every bike enthusiast who showed up at Misano, adding to this the proceeds from the many fundraising initiatives involving riders and spectators in a true solidarity race, amounting to a final figure of €200,000 destined to go to Emilia Romagna’s Civil Protection.

Aprilia riders mucked in with the donation of racing equipment such as helmets, racing leathers and boots for the charity auctions. True and rare memorabilia – much of it highly coveted – was up for grabs, with bike fans making their contribution with bids and purchases, which even included the much sought-after official t-shirt of the event.

The extraordinary day of solidarity was accompanied by the usual on-track spectacle. Taking it in turns on the MWC track were performances from the RS-GPs, ridden by Aprilia MotoGP riders, RSV4 superbikes and right through to the legendary 250 2-strokes. As always, the quarter-litre displacements, which have filled the Aprilia trophy cabinet with 18 world titles and 143 GP wins, were among the bikes most sought after by the riders.

The highlight for MotoGP fans was, of course, the on-track display from the RS-GP 2023, Aprilia’s MotoGP star of the world championship.

For all bike fans, for groups of friends and also for the many families who flocked to the event, it was a fun-filled day of celebration, with activities ranging from tests of the 2023 Aprilia motorcycle range to the top-class entertainment emanating from the main stage throughout the day, courtesy of the stars of radio Deejay and M2O. Moreover, there was a fine live performance from Albertino, who turned the entire paddock into a dancefloor, as well as the draw that saw one lucky winner go home with a brand new Aprilia Tuareg 660.

Isle Of Man TT: Hickman Fastest Tuesday At 132.079 MPH

HICKMAN HITS 132 ON SECOND DAY OF TT 2023

Peter Hickman set the quickest lap on the second night of qualifying at the Isle of Man TT Races with the FHO Racing BMW rider lapping at 132.079mph on his FHO Racing BMW Superbike. That was a second quicker than Dean Harrison (DAO Racing Kawasaki) with Michael Dunlop a further second back on the Hawk Racing Honda.

Dunlop did, however, top the Superstock class after lapping at 131.843mph with Ben and Tom Birchall fastest in the Sidecar class with a lap of 118.316mph on their Steadplan/Hager LCR Honda.

With clear blue skies and sunshine once more, riders were warned of the bright sun on the west part of the circuit, including at Union Mills, Ballagarey and the Hawthorn, and it was Harrison who was first away on his Superbike followed by Dunlop who opted for his Superstock machine first time out.

Next to go were David Johnson, Jamie Coward, James Hillier, Josh Brookes, Michael Rutter, Peter Hickman, Davey Todd and Hickman and it was Harrison who was first to complete a lap at 131.974mph with Dunlop only a fraction slower on his Superstock Honda after lapping at 131.843mph.

Hickman was quickest on the opening lap though with a speed of 132.079mph, the first man to break the 132mph barrier this week, whilst Conor Cummins (130.924mph) slotted into third on the Superbike leaderboard ahead of his Milenco by Padgett’s Motorcycles team-mate Todd (129.920mph), Coward (128.488mph) and Hillier (128.029mph).

Brookes, meanwhile, was second quickest in the Superstock category at 126.282mph with newcomers Erno Kostamo and Matthieu Lagrive lapping at 114.976mph and 111.560mph respectively.

Second time around and speeds were slightly slower with Hickman again the quickest at 131.712mph with Harrison lapping at 131.351mph. Dunlop switched to his Superbike and posted a speed of 131.141mph but Todd (129.261mph) and Coward (129.60mph) were two riders who managed to improve. Cummins was out of luck though, the Manxman reported to have stopped at the 33rd Milestone.

Hillier was another to improve, at 128.189mph, with Julian Trummer impressing on the WH Racing with Dynobike BMW at 124.247mph. Shaun Anderson was up to third on the Superstock leaderboard at 125.841mph just ahead of Mike Browne, the Cork man lapping at 125.745mph.

Hickman, Harrison and Hillier all went out for a third lap on their Superstock machines with Harrison posting a lap of exactly 125mph but Hickman experienced problems and pulled off the course at Ballacraine. Speeds were all reduced though due to the setting sun but also due to yellow flags being displayed from the Bottom of Barregarrow to Kirk Michael after Mark Goodings’ bike expired.

Oil on the course, led to the evening’s Supersport and Supertwin session being cancelled and it was 8.25pm before the Sidecar class got underway.

The Birchalls were first to complete a lap at 116.828mph ahead of Pete Founds/Jevan Walmsley (116.110mph) and Gary Bryan/Phil Hyde (110.146mph) with Tim Reeves/Mark Wilkes completing their first lap of the week at 109.623mph.

Second time around and the Birchalls really upped their tempo with a speed of 118.316mph and although Founds/Walmsley didn’t go any quicker, Reeves/Wilkes did with a lap of 112.338mph. Steve and Matty Ramsden were also above the 110mph barrier with their lap of 110.236mph putting them fourth quickest on the night.

Tomorrow’s qualifying session is set to get under at 18:30. However following the disruption to this evening’s qualifying session, a revised schedule has been announced. Click here to view tomorrow’s schedule.

N2/WERA National Endurance: Alpha Omega Takes Overall Win At Road Atlanta

Alpha Omega wins the N2/WERA National Endurance Race May 26 at Road Atlanta

Media, PA (May 2023) – Four hours is a long time to race a motorcycle and virtually anything can happen in endurance racing. The Alpha Omega Endurance Team beat longtime endurance juggernauts Army of Darkness for the overall win on a Middleweight-class Yamaha YZF-R6. It was the first time a Middleweight bike has won the overall in as long as anyone can remember.

The N2/WERA National Endurance Series by Dunlop got off to a great start with 70 teams registered for the first round at Road Atlanta battling to claim the lucrative purse and bonus packages.

The battle for the win across all classes was hard fought and filled with drama. Army of Darkness, with riders Josh Hayes and Cody Wyman, were the favorites for the win and took the lead early in the race. Wyman started the race and ran an incident-free one-hour-long stint, before handing the bike to Hayes. The second stint was filled with red flags, and one incident put oil on the exit of Turn 10B. When Hayes came through on the restart he crashed in the oil dry but picked the bike up quickly with only light damage to the ultra-durable Woodcraft rearsets. This proved to be a pivotal moment as the Army of Darkness team would have to change rearsets at the next pitstop. Fortunately, Woodcraft builds their parts to be serviceable and the pitstop was completed without Army of Darkness even losing a lap. When Wyman took over, the Army of Darkness team was down a little over a minute and 20 seconds.

The Alpha Omega Endurance Team had a flawless race with riders Anthony Mazziotto, Steven Roth, Eziah Davis, and Emerson Amaya. Alpha Omega ran the fastest lap times in Middleweight by a large margin and completed fast pitstops. When the team went up by well over a minute, they put Davis out on their Yamaha YZF-R6. Red flags had put a wrench in their pit stop plans, so despite running the fastest Middleweight laps of the race in the final stint, Davis would still have to pit one more time for a splash of fuel.

Meanwhile, Wyman was putting in a hero’s ride by turning the fastest laps of the entire race through traffic to close the gap to a little over 20 seconds. When Alpha Omega came in for their last fuel stop, Wyman was able to pass Davis when Alpha Omega re-entered the track. The race seemed to be in Army of Darkness’ hands with six minutes left, then a late red flag came out ending the race. Scoring reverted back to the last lap completed, giving Alpha Omega the overall and Middleweight class victories.

The podium for Heavyweight consisted of Army of Darkness in first, Kustom Cockpits in thanks to riders Tom Delgram, Dan Hawkins, and Allan Kersey, and Race Against the Machine and its riders Corey Heflin, CJ Crosslin, and Michael Russo were third.

The Middleweight class was a close battle all race long with TopBox Racing and its riders Tony Mcknight, Mark Faulkner, and Caleb Odom finishing second over third-place Motor Drone and its riders Jamie Starace, Jackson Blackmon, and Shane Maggs.

The family team of Brown Town Racing won the Lightweight class on a Suzuki SV650 with riders Reese Brown, Chase Brown, and dad David Brown. Last Minute Racing finished second with riders Colin Gast, Michael Killian, and Jared Trees. RBoM Racing took third with the duo of Giacomo Manera and Ryan Wolfe riding a Suzuki SV650.

The Ultra Lightweight 2-Hour Endurance was an incident-free affair with 31 teams competing on a variety of motorcycles. Ready to Ride dominated the race with two teams finishing in the top two. Ready to Ride Endurance won with rider Dominic Doyle. RTR Endurance finished second with rider Logan Cunnison. Riot Racing finished third with riders Chris Evans and Eli Banish.

The Relay Class is a unique exhibition class intended to get teams into endurance racing without jumping into the expense of building a dedicated endurance bike. Each rider on the team can use their own bikes and switch transponders with their teammates instead of performing complete stops. Nature Power Superbike with riders Jason Waters and Dan Kruger dominated the relay class with teams A Proper Ding Dong and Keep It On Pipe finishing in second and third.

Alpha Omega Triumphs in N2/WERA National Endurance Race

Braselton, GA – Alpha Omega achieved a historic victory in the highly competitive N2/WERA National Endurance series, winning the Middleweight category, as well as the Overall victory. They etched their name as the first Middleweight team to claim the Overall victory since 2017, solidifying their status as a force to be reckoned with in MotoAmerica as well as Endurance racing.

The season opener held at the prestigious Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Friday May 26th, showcased thirty-eight total teams competing in the 4-hour race. The grueling event demanded unparalleled endurance, strategy, and precision from the racers, pushing them to their limits both physically and mentally. The team’s riders, Anthony Mazziotto, Eziah Davis, Emerson Amaya, and Steven Roth, exhibited consistent laps and seamless transitions, maximizing the performance of their Yamaha YZF-R6, built by KWS.

This emerging motorcycle racing team’s success at the opening round is a testament to their commitment to pushing boundaries, rewriting history, and inspiring future generations of racers.

Honda Introduces New SCL500 Scrambler

American Honda Introduces New SCL500 and Updated Shadow Phantom

  • New SCL500 pairs retro “scrambler” styling with modern on-road performance
  • Shadow Phantom cruiser receives updates to performance and styling
  • ADV160 receives new engine, replaces ADV150
  • Shadow Aero, PCX and Grom return

American Honda today announced that the new SCL500 “scrambler”-style motorcycle is coming to the U.S. market. The SCL500 is a nod to Honda’s rich history, dating all the way back to the 1960s when the CL72 and CL77 were offered. Based on the Rebel 500 platform, the SCL500 combines modern ride quality and comfort with authentic retro styling, and delivers the result at an attractive price.

At the same time, Honda announced the return of several other models, many of which have received notable improvements. The bobber-style Shadow Phantom cruiser benefits from styling and performance upgrades, while its classic cruiser counterpart, the Shadow Aero, returns with a new color. Known for its versatility, the renamed ADV160 scooter delivers even greater capability, with updates focused on power, efficiency and comfort. The category-defining Grom miniMOTO enters its 10th year of production and continues to lead the way with new colors. Meanwhile, the PCX continues to set the bar for scooters, with comfortable, convenient, reliable around-town transportation.

“More than any manufacturer, Honda has consistently demonstrated an ability to deliver fun, retro motorcycles that scratch a nostalgic itch while offering the performance and reliability for which Honda is so well known,” said Brandon Wilson, American Honda Manager of Sports & Experiential. “That’s the case with the all-new SCL500, and we’re confident it will be a hit with American customers. We’re also pleased to confirm the return of existing cruiser, scooter and miniMOTO models, several of which tout important improvements. Together, this collection of machines serves as a reminder of Honda’s versatility in the powersports market.”

2023 SCL500

Harkening back to the early ’60s, when simple, stripped-down motorcycles like Honda’s CL72 came on the scene, the all-new SCL500 features all the key “scrambler” styling elements—upright riding position, high-routed exhaust, block tires, ample suspension travel and a retro aesthetic—in an approachable package and at an attractive price. Leveraging the 500cc parallel-twin engine that has proven so successful in models like the Rebel 500, the retro-inspired SCL500 is light and nimble, making it a casual, fun entry for a broad swath of customers, from new riders to more seasoned enthusiasts. Because personalization is vital to many fans of this genre, a wide range of Honda Accessories is offered for the SCL500, enabling owners to customize their rides as they see fit.

2024 Shadow Phantom

Few V-twin cruisers can measure up to the clean, understated style and rock-solid reliability of the Shadow Phantom. For the 2024 model year, this cruiser icon takes it to the next level with updates to its quintessential bobber styling, along with improved performance. With a two-tone gas tank, new handlebar, handlebar clamps, headlight cover, air-cleaner cover, display instruments, turn signals and machine-cut cylinder-head fins, this cruiser’s appearance is only more timeless than that of its predecessor. In addition, an updated single seat provides comfort for long, relaxed rides, and a passenger seat and footpegs are offered for those who want to bring a plus-one along for the ride. A new ABS version is available for the new model year, and both trim levels receive a rear disc brake. To top it off, the Shadow Phantom is built with Honda’s unmatched durability, quality and reliability, giving owners the peace of mind to enjoy the sense of freedom that only a V-twin cruiser can provide. A true classic, the Shadow Aero combines the signature long, low cruiser look with modern engineering and performance. The low-slung seat and pullback handlebar offer a relaxed riding position, while the large front fender, chrome components, spoke wheels and V-twin engine contribute to its perennial styling. Thanks to sensible features like programmed fuel injection and a shaft final drive, the Shadow Aero lives up to Honda’s reputation for reliability and ease of ownership. 2024 Grom

It’s hard to believe that Honda’s little Grom is already 10 years old. In the model’s first decade, it has spawned a vibrant subculture of fun-seekers—from new riders attracted to its low seat height and unintimidating approachability, to experienced enthusiasts who like its modular styling and peppy performance. In both cases, the Grom often serves as a customization platform for those looking for an amusing project, which has helped to establish the Grom as one of the powersports industry’s most popular motorcycle models—and the undisputed emperor of the miniMOTO world.

“We are incredibly proud of our entire team for this monumental achievement,” said team owner and Alpha Omega founder Patrick Edenfield. “Winning the category, and then being the first middleweight team to claim the overall victory in years is a testament to our dedication to this series, and Pirelli’s winning tradition. We are honored to have accomplished such a significant milestone in a short time of long-distance racing.”

The victory not only demonstrates Alpha Omega’s dominance in the middleweight category but also reinforces their ability to compete with and surpass larger, more powerful machines.

As Alpha Omega basks in the glory of their recent success, they remain resolute in their pursuit of excellence. This emerging motorcycle racing team’s success at the opening round is a testament to their commitment to pushing boundaries, rewriting history, and inspiring future generations of racers.
