Yamaha Making Changes To Manufacturing Facility In France

Yamaha Motor Europe announces Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe

Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. announces that its wholly-owned European manufacturing site in Saint Quentin, France, previously known as MBK Industrie S.A.S. (MBK), has been re-named Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe S.A.S. (YMME).

The establishment of the re-naming, consented to by the Work Council at MBK, into YMME has been part of Yamaha Motor’s long-term vision and reinforces its commitment to a local European manufacturing as a competitive and sustainable advantage.

YMME will continue its diversification into a multi-products factory and towards the electric mobility. Already for many years, this site has been manufacturing Yamaha flagship models such as the Ténéré 700, MT-125 and XMAX, assembling the new range of Yamaha eBikes and customizing Yamaha’s Powered Two-Wheelers and ATVs for European-specific needs.

The introduction of the Ténéré Extreme and Ténéré Explore November last is the most recent proof of the factory’s capabilities, while as announced earlier, YMME will also start to produce eDrive units for OEM customers in March 2024.

MBK has been a wholly-owned Yamaha subsidiary since 1986. It has been a great journey from Motobécane to MBK Industrie and now Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe. This ultimate integration of YMME into the Yamaha Motor Group marks a new era of the factory’s history where it will continue to reinforce its vital role in Yamaha’s operations in Europe.

Olivier Prévost, President and CEO, Yamaha Motor Europe N.V.
“It is with a lot of emotion that I see the evolution of MBK Industrie into Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe. I started my career at MBK 30 years ago and all these years, I have been paying special attention to MBK. The operations and product line-up have been continuously evolving to reach today a high level of excellence allowing production of Yamaha flagship models in this factory. This has been possible with the involvement and efforts of all the employees during the last 40 years. I would like to express my appreciation and to thank all of them. Looking forward, it became clear that it is now time to change the name to Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe. More than a symbolic move, it is a clear recognition for the company within the Yamaha Motor Group and it will support to embrace a wider range of Yamaha products. Finally, as an ex-MBK employee, I am very proud to say to my YMME colleagues that we are finally all “Yamaha employees” now. Let’s continue to move forward using our Yamaha local manufacturing as a competitive and sustainable advantage!”

Patrice Maciejewski, President, Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe S.A.S.
“The re-naming of MBK into Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe is an important recognition of the efforts made by all employees during the last years to transform the company to be able to produce Yamaha flagship models such as the Ténéré 700cc family. We continuously benchmark our quality standard and method with our mother factory in Iwata, to be able to achieve similar quality levels. We believe that our facility in Europe will be a key asset for Yamaha in the eMobility to respond to the zero carbon neutrality requirement for local manufacturing. Today, after 100 years of existence under Motobécane and MBK, we are very proud to join the Yamaha family completely and to become Yamaha employees.”

AMA Supercross: Race Report From Anaheim One

Jett Lawrence Wins Anaheim 1 Supercross and Makes Rookie History

RJ Hampshire Nabs Victory in Western Regional 250SX Class

Anaheim, Calif., (January 6, 2024) Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence became the first athlete to win his first 450SX Class Main Event with a decisive victory at the opening round of the 17-round 2024 Monster Energy Supercross season.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson earned second place in front of a packed Angel Stadium. Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton earned the final podium spot in the first race of the year that marks the 50th anniversary season of AMA Supercross. Each Supercross race also pays points toward the 31-round SuperMotocross World Championship. In the Western Regional 250SX Class, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire earned the first win of that 10-round championship.

“It’s an unreal thing to kinda grasp. Really because you just think with how many years this sport’s been around you’d have thought someone has done it before. But it’s cool that it took that many years for someone to do it. I’m definitely grateful and I’m happy to do it for Honda and Red Bull. They’ve been behind me for a very long time now so it’s good to give back in that type of way and get up in the history books for them. ” – Jett Lawrence, when asked about the significance of being the first rider to win his first 450SX race.

“I definitely didn’t want him [Cooper Webb] to pass me [for second]. So I think we kind of slowed our pace down trying to have that battle for a second and let Jett get that little three-second gap… But at the same time I [made a few] mistakes and stuff like that, and Cooper was able to get on me and be able to get close enough to make that pass. But I think me, Coop, and Jett, for a good 15 minutes of that moto were pretty even. It was tough to make time.” – Jason Anderson, describing his battle with Cooper Webb for second place before Webb crashed.

“I come out here to win and be up front, so not only Jett, but everybody else, I gotta go out there and race as hard as I can and try and win. But I’m happy to be on the podium. It wasn’t, like I said, my best riding, but it’s a long season; and like last year shows, you gotta be there for every race. I feel like my consistency is better this year, I just gotta get a little bit more speed. I had really good speed last year and now we gotta get that back and we’ll be in a good spot.” – Chase Sexton when asked about the importance of preventing Jett from getting momentum early in the season.

In the opening round of the Western Regional 250SX Class RJ Hampshire racked up first place points and the early-season lead. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith battled up to a second place. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen brought home the third place spot for his new team for 2024.

“I know how fast it can change and how up and down it is… Stay level headed and take next weekend the same as we took this weekend. Stay in the fight, give myself a chance. If the win’s there, awesome, if not, take what the night gives me. …[I’m just trying to] enjoy this. Especially enjoy an Anaheim 1 victory, which was massive.” – RJ Hampshire downplaying the importance of one win to establish himself early in the season as the front runner.

“RJ had a pretty big lead by the time I got into second. There’s wasn’t a whole lot of seperator on the track tonight. It was tough to get that long rhythm but I mainly wasn’t focused on going for the win I was just focused on putting my laps in, just trying to stay focused in the whoops. They were not hard tonight but they got tricky in the Main Event. They were pretty tore-up.” – Jordon Smith.

“I think I got more in me for sure, but tonight was still positive… To get it back together after that heat race incident, and early on I panicked pretty bad in that main. These guys [Hampshire and Smith] were riding really good, too. They blew by me, so I had to regroup, which was a positive for me also. But like RJ said there are ups and downs and it’s a long season, so to get out of here healthy with a podium, I can’t complain.” – Levi Kitchen, when asked if he has more under the hood for future races.

Round two takes the action to Oracle Park in San Francisco on January 13th. The racing starts earlier this year and the Opening Ceremonies kick-off round two at 8:00 p.m. EST. Every round of the 17-round Monster Energy Supercross season also serves as the first 17 rounds of the 31-round SuperMotocross World Championship. After its launch in 2023, the SuperMotocross League combines the excitement of the 17-round Monster Energy AMA Supercross season, the 11-round AMA Pro Motocross season, two Playoff Rounds, and one Final to crown an overall winner in both the 450SMX and 250SMX Classes.

All 31 SuperMotocross World Championship rounds will be streamed live on PeacockTV, with select rounds also broadcast or streamed domestically on NBC, USA Network, CNBC, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app. CNBC will air next-day encore presentations of all 31 rounds of 2024 racing. New National Flat Track Racing Series Coming In 2024

NATIONAL FLATTRACK GROUP SET TO LAUNCH THE LARGEST FLATTRACK SERIES IN THE UNITED STATES.

Oklahoma City, OK – Xtreem Flattrack (XFT) excitingly announces the official rebranding, restructuring and launch of the all-new National Flat Track (NFT) series. The launching of this new series was designed to put focus back on the roots of our great sport consisting of several State, Regional and National Championship opportunities through our effective partnerships. The racing calendar consists of 45 events across the United States including Halfmile, Shorttrack and TT tracks. The Series will end with a true 3-day National Championship Finale.

“I am so excited for this new era of flat track and am thankful for the partners on board that reflect the same vision for the sport, “said Jake Latimer, CEO of the National Flattrack Series and National Flattrack Group. “Although the Pro AFT racers are the cream of the crop, you cannot deny that there are some great amateur, vintage and expert racers across the Country, and we know that every pro must come from somewhere.”

The NFT Group has developed a program in cooperation with several partners with a focus on these “kids” and young adults and their stories. Through video, website, email, social media and other avenues the NFT in-house media group will allow the public to follow along on their journey through the classes as they chase the road to the AFT Pro ranks. Witness firsthand the challenges and rewards that follow.  As this program gains momentum some of the immediate goals and visions is to include a learn to race program that works with troubled or underprivileged youth to instill and teach the values of a what it takes to not only be a great motorcycle racer, but also great human being as they transition through life. A year end expert points fund for modern, and vintage expert class is in the works as well as the opportunity for AM classes to win brand new motorcycles, parts packages and even have the chance to ride for a top Pro AFT team as part of their championship.

“It was very important when developing this new series that the sanctioning and agreements were all multi year deals extending 5 years and beyond.” Jake continues “We wanted to make sure our Riders, Partners and Sponsors recognized the commitment we are bringing to the sport, We believe the future of flattrack looks great and can’t wait to get started.”

2024 will also see some different entertainment aspects added to the national program at select events including FMX jump shows, Demolition Derbies, Trials exhibitions, Stunt shows, Monster Trucks, Concerts, Bike shows and more. NFT plans to expand the series to virtually every state in the U.S by 2025 and are solidifying plans for a Global launch by 2026.

American Flat Track: RoosEvans Riding A1R Racing Yamaha In Singles

A1R Racing Aims High with RoosEvans on Yamahas for 2024

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 4, 2024) – A1R Racing is thrilled to announce an augmented program for the upcoming Progressive American Flat Track season featuring Aidan RoosEvans aboard Yamaha YZ450Fs in the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER class.

2024 marks an exciting opportunity for the team as it is set to grow significantly with support from Yamaha. The squad will carry a full complement of crew, including four mechanics and former racer and professional bodybuilder Joe RoosEvans on board as coach.

The additional support lays a strong foundation, which should allow Aidan to fully capitalize on his potential and establish himself a contender at the front of the highly competitive category.

A racer since the age of four, RoosEvans was a 14-time motorcycle dirt track amateur national champion before shifting his focus to auto racing, where he was named Warrior Region ASCR Rookie of the Year in 2018. Since returning to two wheels, the O’Fallon, Illinois, native has repeatedly proven himself against the best 450cc riders in the world, securing 13 top tens since 2020 while finishing ninth in the ‘22 championship standings. RoosEvans enjoyed the best Main Event result of his burgeoning Progressive AFT career a year ago, finishing in the top five at the Orange County Half-Mile.

Team Manager Derek Arnett said, “Our success in the upcoming season is not only reliant on skill and talent, but also a huge effort as a team dedicated to one goal. We’ve put in a ton of hard work testing and tuning, and we are totally confident in what we’ve accomplished over the offseason. We’re race ready now and excited to see the fruits of our labor.”

RoosEvans said, “I couldn’t be more excited to start the season. With backing from Yamaha and all of our other great partners, I feel like this can be my best year yet. Honestly, I struggled at times getting a rhythm in recent years, but when I hopped back on the Yamaha, I felt right back at home. It was like a homecoming when we tried one last fall, and I was instantly hooked on the idea of coming back to Yamaha. Everything fell into place, and I’m really excited about having Yamaha be a part of our team in 2024.”

TOUR VISITING 20 CITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES

On Tuesday, January 9th, Triumph Motorcycles America kicks-off a 20 city tour which will showcase an impressive array of all-new motorcycles. In 2024 Triumph is introducing an incredible amount of all-new motorcycles, and poised to make a major impact in the North American motorcycle market, reminiscent of when British rock bands took America by storm in the 60’s.

To celebrate the large wave of new model motorcycles, Triumph is hosting 20 “British Invasion Tour” events across the United States in January and February, where each of the new models will be showcased. At every event, Triumph enthusiasts will gather for an exclusive one night only first look at the new for ’24 models which are not yet in dealerships, while also enjoying live entertainment, a variety of activations, and some light food and beverages.

Adam VanderVeen, Marketing Director for Triumph Motorcycle America said, “It’s been a few years since Triumph has planned a tour like this, but with a line-up like Triumph is bringing for 2024 the time is right to host a series of new model release parties like only Triumph can, because every one of these game-changing new motorcycles deserves to be showcased. In addition to offering enthusiasts the chance to see the latest new models, the best part of these tour events is creating a premium brand experience for our owners and fans to come out and enjoy an evening together as a Triumph community.”

The British Invasion Tour will feature a curation of Triumph’s exciting new model year 2024 motorcycles, including:

  • All-New TF 250-X
