World Endurance: Gino Rea Returning To Action With Wójcik Racing Team

The star cast of Wójcik Racing Team in the Superstock class in the FIM EWC

Returning under the wings of the Polish team as World Motorcycle Champion, Gino Rea will join Kevin Manfredi, Danny Webb and Sheridan Morais in the 777 crew, which will start in the full cycle of FIM EWC in the Superstock class.

A few days after the team of Grzegorz Wójcik and Sławomir Kubzdyl announced the full Polish lineup of the 77 crew, Wójcic Racing Team confirmed the international, star-studded 777 lineup.

The Polish team will fully make use of the new regulations, according to which not three, but four competitors will be allowed to participate in the Superstock class.

In the 2024 season, British Gino Rea will return under the wings of Wójcik Racing Team, who in 2019 began his journey with FIM EWC in the colors of the Polish team, and last year won the world championship as a Honda factory competitor.

Gino will join the 777 crew two of the fastest riders in the Superstock class of last season, Italian Kevin Manfredy and British Danny Webb.

Sheridan Morais will be experienced as the fourth pillar of the team, which ended the 2023 season with points at the third place of the Superstock World Cup. The popular “Shez” has been representing Wójcik Racing Team for four years and together with Rea he stood together on the FIM EWC podium in the colors of the team 77.

The international lineup of the 777 crew will receive a new Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle. On the second such machine in the EWC class, crew 77 with a fully Polish team will start; Kamil Krzemień, Artur Wielebski, Jurand Kuśmierczyk. The FIM EWC World Championship season will start in April with a 24-hour race at Le Mans.

“We are very excited to announce such a strong, international lineup of the 777 team and welcome Gino back to our team,” says Grzegorz Wójcik. “After a great season of 2023 next year we want to fight for the top positions again. Our competitors are not only very fast but also experienced, and Gino, Kevin and Sheridan already know Honda motorcycle well. This is very important for us, because we have a lot of work to do on developing new machines for us. Both the 777 crew, as well as the fully Polish 77 team, are looking forward to the first race of the new season.”

“Gino knew that our motorcycle would be waiting for him as soon as he felt ready to return to the track after the dangerous accident he suffered at the Suzuka track,” adds Sławomir Kubzdyl. “I had no doubt that this moment would come and I am happy that it is coming at such an exciting time for us. Gino’s story shows that motorcycle racing is a sport for the truly strong. Gino is a contender for blood and bone just like Kevin, Danny and Sheridan. I am convinced that these four, also thanks to the new regulations, will create a winning combination and at the same time it will help us develop new motorcycles for us.”

Prévost To Succeed De Seynes As President/CEO Of Yamaha Motor Europe

Yamaha Motor Europe announces senior leadership change

Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. (YME) announces that as from 1st of January 2024 Eric de Seynes will step down as President and Chief Executive Officer to join the company’s Supervisory Board as Chairman. At the same moment, Olivier Prévost, currently Vice-President of YME, will succeed Mr. de Seynes as President and Chief Executive Officer of YME, its branches and subsidiaries in Europe.

Mr. Prévost has been part of the Yamaha family since the start of his professional career in 1994 as Project Leader at MBK Industrie, a fully owned Yamaha subsidiary since 1986. Having held several positions within the Yamaha Motor Group over about 30 years – MBK Industrie, Yamaha Motor R&D Europe, Yamaha Motor headquarters in Japan, former Yamaha subsidiary Motori Minarelli, Yamaha Motor Europe – Mr. Prévost has gained in-depth knowledge of the various aspects of Yamaha Motor’s business and, with that, the trust and full support to become the successor of Mr. de Seynes.

Eric de Seynes, currently President and CEO, Yamaha Motor Europe N.V.

It has been a great honor and privilege to have led the Yamaha Motor Europe group companies since 2014 as Operational Director and C.O.O, and then as President and C.E.O since 2018. During this decade we have developed a new marketing strategy in Europe, have more than doubled our total Net sales and have implemented many new customer services and digital applications. Despite the severe Covid environment, we did not curtail our business and new services deployment. The Yamaha family comprises passionate and hardworking people with a mindset to always serve our customers and Yamaha dealers to the best of their ability and to surpass their expectations. I’m proud to be part of this family. The (mobility) needs of our customers are undergoing constant change. Especially, after the pandemic. We must remain aware of their needs; we must stay ahead of the game and provide them with the best solutions at the right moment. During the last ten years, we have achieved very good and sustainable results, financially and commercially. The weight of the European operation has increased in average from 9% to 13% of our global company results (worldwide), our brand strategy is well established and our monobrand distribution is solid. These positive results make it the right moment to pass on the baton. Leading the YME Group is and always will be a challenge but I transfer the position of President and CEO to the more than capable hands of Olivier.

Olivier Prévost, currently Vice-President Yamaha Motor Europe N.V.

First, I would like to thank Eric for his contribution to Yamaha Motor for the last years. His passion for the Yamaha brand and products combined with his leadership have brought Yamaha to its current strong position in Europe. It is with a lot of humility and respect that I accept the challenge of being his successor as YME President. The last ten years, through my various assignments in different Yamaha Motor entities, I have been reinforcing and enlarging my understanding and experience of the Yamaha organization, operations, businesses and markets. With the support of the Yamaha family – and with family I mean the Yamaha employees, suppliers, distributors, dealers and customers, I feel reassured and confident to fulfill the position. Yes, I don’t expect that the path will always be smooth, but I believe that we can make it happen as a team. After three years in which our operations and markets have been impacted by the COVID pandemic and its aftermath, I want to express the ambition of Yamaha Motor to remain and reinforce its position in our different markets and product groups. This Ambition will be achieved by focusing on the Innovation in our products and operations combined with Speed in our actions. The final aim being to reinforce Yamaha’s Customer Experience and our Kando mission. Again, I would like to thank Eric for his continuous contribution and, personally, I do not take my new assignment as an achievement in itself but as a new start!

“I am truly blessed and grateful to be a part of FLO4LAW Racing,” said Davies. “2023 was a great year, we were able to grow as a team and learn the in’s and out’s of MotoAmerica. Together towards the end of the year we had gotten faster and closer to where we wanted to be. I would like to thank Flo, Matt and Shon for believing in me and taking a chance on me. Benjamin is super fast and a very talented racer. Having Ben on the team is a huge addition to FLO4LAW Racing and I am excited for the 2024 race season.”

In addition to the re-signing of Davies, the team has brought on Benjamin Smith, who is looking forward to his first full season of racing the 1000’s.

“After a somewhat sporadic 2023 season,” said Smith, “I was pleased to find my feet in the second half of the year after an immense amount of work to get there. I feel as if I really started to gel with the big bike during that time, notching a podium in our first outing. FLO4LAW Racing helped to get me back on track last season, and that partnership has carried over into what looks to be a very promising 2024 campaign. We have our eyes set on the Stock 1000 championship run, however keeping myself sharp racing against the Superbike field will be a key aspect to our plan. I can’t thank FLO4LAW Racing enough for the incredible opportunity they have provided me, along with my additional sponsors who have stood behind my career. I am looking forward to rewarding them with great results in 2024!”

Flo and Matt with Flo4Law Racing are excited to carry the momentum from the 2023 season into 2024, and honored to have both Bobby and Ben ride with our brand!

MotoGP Analysis: The Marquez/Honda Story, In the December Issue

0

Featured In the December 2023 issue of Roadracing World:

Rarely has one rider shone so brightly on one motorcycle for so long: 11 seasons, winning six Moto GP World Championships and 59 Grand Prix races. Only Giacomo Agostini and Mick Doohan come close: Ago rode MV Agusta 500s for nine years, taking seven world titles and 64 race wins. Doohan rode Honda NSR500s for 10 years, scoring five titles and 54 Grand Prix victories.

What made Márquez’s glory years so special was the strength of his rivals—the MotoGP grid of recent years has been much stronger than the 500c grid in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1990s—and especially how he changed the art of riding a GP bike: Tucking the front at every other corner and, when he surpassed the limit, avoiding disaster by using his elbows as outriggers.

It didn’t always work, of course. During those 11 years aboard Honda’s fast and fiery RC213V he had 196 crashes during MotoGP weekends. Imagine if HRC published the total crash damage bill!

“Marc Marquez And Honda: A Magician’s Best And Worst Of Times,” by MotoGP Editor Mat Oxley

The Marc Márquez/Honda story was something special, one of Moto GP’s all-time greatest relationships. So what were the highs and the lows of their 11 years together? Mat Oxley details the significant milestones in the latest issue of Roadracing World!

World Supersport: Oli Bayliss Continuing With D34G Racing

D34G Racing to continue in WorldSSP with Bayliss, Edwards joins for WorldSSP Challenge

Team D34G Racing is entering year three of their WorldSSP commitment once again with the stunning Ducati Panigale V2 955, for a 2024 edition of the series that will consist of 12 rounds, starting with the traditional Australian round at Phillip Island (23-25 February) and drawing to a close eight almost months later at ‘Circuito de Jerez’ in southern Spain (11-13 October).

The Australian season opener will see returning rider Oli Bayliss ready to excite the crowd with his talent and speed. The 20-year-old Aussie is gearing up for his second season with the squad led by former WorldSBK rider Davide Giugliano, aiming at building on the work done in 2023 and the continuing experience made aboard Ducati’s Supersport machine.

Bayliss will be joined in the European rounds by fellow Australian Tom Edwards. The 22-year-old from Wellington, a small town in New South Wales, will tackle the WorldSSP Challenge following his debut season last year on different machinery and three years (2018-2020) spent in the WorldSSP300 category.

#32 OLIVER BAYLISS

“I’m very excited to be racing for Team D34G Racing again. I feel like last year I didn’t get to show my speed due to some injuries and unlucky moments. I really enjoyed being with these guys and I’m happy to be going around the clock one more time to show how fast we can be. A big thank you to all of my sponsors, supporters and the whole D34G Racing for giving me this opportunity.”

#71 TOM EDWARDS

“I’m really looking forward to this next chapter in my career. It’s a really exciting opportunity to be joining the D34G team and to work under the leadership of Davide. The team has a lot of experience and have shown just how competitive they can be. Really grateful to Davide for backing me and giving me this opportunity. I’m really confident together we will see consistent strong results. Really excited to ride the V2, I think this bike will really suit my riding style. It’ll be great to have Oli as my team mate too, think we might be the first Aussie teammates in SuperSport which is pretty cool. Going be a huge year, can’t wait for the season to get started.”

DAVIDE GIUGLIANO – TEAM MANAGER D34G RACING

“Obviously I’m really excited to dive into this new season and I can’t wait to get to the track. I’m really happy with this year’s rider line-up. We will continue with Oli and for him it’ll be another season of growth and we’ll try to maximise the work done this year, which for him was a bit of an unlucky one due to injuries. In any case I’m happy with him and he surely has mine and the team’s full trust. Regarding Edwards I would like to give him a warm welcome; it’ll be interesting to see him racing with us. He already showed some good speed and I believe that he can aim at good results with our team. Now it’s up to us to put both riders in the best condition to give their best. It’ll also be insteresting to see two fellow Aussies sharing the pit-garage. Obviously I would like to thank all the sponsors for allowing us to continue in this journey. See you at the track!”

MotoAmerica: FLO4LAW Racing fielding Benjamin Smith and Bobby Davies for 2024 campaign

Bobby Davies and Benjamin Smith set for 2 rider assault on Stock 1000 and Superbike championships

(Dallas, Texas) – FLO4LAW Racing is thrilled to announce the signing of Benjamin Smith and Bobby Davies for the 2024 campaign. Following a successful first season in the series for the team, FLO4LAW Racing is ready to step up to a full-time racing program for the upcoming year.

Bobby Davies will be bringing with him a year’s worth of experience under the FLO4LAW Racing banner as he is seeking to continuously make strides towards the front of the pack.

The team would like to thank all sponsors for their support in the 2024 MotoAmerica effort as they look forward to the continued partnerships. For more information on the team and sponsorship opportunities, visit Flo4law.com. You can also visit our Instagram page @flo4lawracing!

MotoGP Analysis: The Marquez/Honda Story, In the December Issue

Marc Márquez loses the front but makes a miracle save at Sepang, 2019. Honda photo.
