In Race 1, Sanchez placed 10th, after fighting within the lead pack of 13 riders for the entire race.

Sanchez finished a close sixth in Race 2, just 0.684 second behind the winner, and turned the fastest lap of the race, a 1:58.771.

For turning the fastest lap of the race, Sanchez earned two bonus Championship points. He left Valencia 10th in the Championship point standings.

“It was a very good race,” said Sanchez. “I was very excited to be able to have the fastest lap time of the race! The track was pretty fun but was very technical with a lot of blind turns and skinny. I was so excited to ride a track that Mick Doohan raced on!”

“I would specifically like to thank Jose Pino for training Mikey and making all of us feel welcome here,” added Michael Sanchez, Mikey Lou Sanchez’s father.

MotoGP: Mir Says Suzuki May Struggle At Le Mans

MERCURIAL FRENCH GRAND PRIX THE FIFTH STOP OF 2021

Round five of the 2021 MotoGP™ World Championship will see the series head to the classic track of Le Mans Bugatti in northern France.

Team Suzuki Ecstar are on the hunt for a podium at the French Grand Prix this weekend, after a tricky fourth round in Jerez saw Joan Mir clinch a Top-five finish, and Alex Rins suffer a DNF.

Le Mans has brought about mixed results for reigning champion Mir, who won here in 2017 but finished 11th last year. Similarly, Rins did not finish the French GP in 2020, but in the past he has had several Top 10 MotoGP finishes, and a win in Moto2 in 2016.

Situated in the Sarthe region of France, Le Mans is synonymous with motorsports of all kinds thanks to its long history of events. The Bugatti track used by the MotoGP™ field was built in 1965 and can be classed as a ‘stop & go’ circuit featuring several tight corners and fast flowing sections.

Curiosity – GP of France: Together with Phillip Island, the French GP is the one where the riders spend the least amount of time at full throttle; only 16% of the total race.

Shinichi Sahara – Project Leader & Team Director:

“During the last race in Jerez we suffered a bit, especially as Alex had a DNF, although Joan managed to keep a nice pace and get a useful Top-5 finish. It wasn’t an easy race for us, it was tricky to manage the tyres and conditions, but we had a test day in Jerez on Monday after the race and that was very positive. We worked on many areas and found a lot of useful information that we hope to use in the coming races. Now we’re in Le Mans and we’re ready to try again to get good results for both our riders. The weather here is always quite mixed and it often rains, so we will have to take that into account too!”

Joan Mir:

“I enjoyed the test in Jerez, and I’m ready to take another step here in Le Mans. We may struggle a bit on this layout as on paper our bike struggles at ‘stop & go’ circuits, and also because the weather can make everything tougher. But obviously we want to get a strong finish and as many points as possible, so I’m looking forward to getting back on my bike and giving my best.”

Alex Rins:

“After the crash in Jerez I felt that my shoulder was a bit sore, it’s the same one that I injured last year so naturally I was a little bit concerned. I rode in the morning at the Jerez Test but I finished early so that I could go home and get my shoulder checked. There’s been no further damage found, so I have just been undergoing some treatments to ease it ahead of Le Mans. This is a circuit that can be unpredictable, but I’m looking forward to riding again and I want to bring my team a nice finish.”

AHRMA: Hendron Named Drag Racing Grand Marshal For MotoFest

Quickest on a Harley to be AHRMA Drag Racing Grand Marshal

(Elora, Tennessee) A vintage drag racing legend also known as the “quickest man on an HD”, Russell “Russ” Hendron will be the AHRMA Drag Racing Grand Marshal at the AHRMA Classic MotoFest in the Heartland to be held May 29th, 2021 at Heartland Motorsports Park, Topeka, Kansas.

The event is part of the AHRMA Classic MotoFest® in the Heartland (May 28-30).

Hendron will make exhibition runs on his dual-engined Harley-Davidson “Black Betty” before racing head-to-head against the AHRMA Vintage Superbike road racing class champion later in the evening.

He will also be in the NHRA Winners Circle following the drag racing program to present trophies to each race winner and runner-up.

“We’re really excited to have Russ Hendron be such an active Grand Marshall for our first classic drag racing event,” said Arthur Kowitz, Chairman of the AHRMA Board of Trustees.  “He’s not just going to be signing autographs and waving to the fans, he’s actually going to be racing ‘Black Beauty’ for real.  Seeing and hearing that beast on the quarter-mile will be incredible.”

“Black Betty” is a 192 cubic inch, twin-motored, nitro-methane Harley Davidson Ironhead owned by Ray Sender of American Air Cooled Motors out of Louisville, Kansas.

“This event is already a dream come true for me and with Russ stepping up to be Grand Marshal and race ‘Black Betty,’ too?  It’s now even more awesome.” said Luke Conner, who’s Luke’s Racecraft is the 2021 series sponsor.  “This is an incredible chance to see two drag racing icons, a rider and his bike, going at it against some unique competition.

Hendron personifies vintage drag racing. In 1983 he built his first nitro-powered Harley-Davidson drag racing motorcycle and began racing the following year.  He went on to win four consecutive AMRA/HDRA National Championships from 1987 through 1989. He is still active in nitro fuel drag racing working from his Crazyhorse Garage workshop in North Judson, Indiana.

MotoGP: Dovizioso Tests Aprilia In The Wet At Mugello

SECOND DATE AT MUGELLO FOR ANDREA DOVIZIOSO AND APRILIA RACING

THE WEATHER WAS NOT FAVOURABLE, BUT THE TWO DAYS OF WORK GOT ANDREA, THE RS-GP AND THE TEAM BETTER ACQUAINTED.

ANDREA DOVIZIOSO: “DOING ANOTHER TEST WOULD BE GOOD”

The highly anticipated second date between Andrea Dovizioso and the Aprilia RS-GP, scheduled at Mugello, did not enjoy any favour from the weather.

The two days on the Tuscan track were characterised throughout by rain, sometimes so light that the track was not entirely wet and sometimes so heavy that it would have determined “red flag” conditions, had it been a race weekend.

It was obviously impossible to complete the planned work schedule, although Andrea was able to try the changes to the RS-GP’s ergonomics, agreed on after the first test in April. In spite of the rain, the laps on the track and the work in the garage were an important step of growth for Andrea to get better acquainted with the bike and the team. Andrea’s final numbers were 23 laps on Tuesday and 22 on Wednesday for the two days at Mugello.

Specifically to pick up on the work begun a month ago in Jerez in better conditions, Aprilia Racing and Andrea Dovizioso are assessing the possibility of another test to be held during the month of June.

ANDREA DOVIZIOSO

“I was very happy to get back on the track with Aprilia, especially here in Mugello. It is a special circuit. The emotion I feel lapping on this track is unique. We weren’t lucky with the weather, but we still tried to exploit these two days of testing. The grip was certainly not ideal for pushing hard, so we focused on understanding and improving the way the RS-GP performs in these conditions. At the end of the previous test, I did not express any definitive opinions because it was just an initial contact, and I think it would be wrong to do so now after two days of rain. I clearly have some ideas, but I think it would be ideal to have another chance to get to know the Aprilia better. I am very happy about the interest generated by my return to a MotoGP bike but, as I have already said, I do not have any long-term plans. I’m having fun, I am relaxed and I’ll evaluate my decisions one step at a time.”

ROMANO ALBESIANO – APRILIA RACING TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

“Even with the adverse weather, these were two important days. In any case, we tested the RS-GP in the wet for the first time and the indications we had from an expert rider like Andrea are extremely valuable. And, I must say that Andrea lapped rather well in these conditions, with rather interesting times. There is also an aspect that is less connected to pure performance and more to reciprocally getting to know one another that obviously improves with every date. The two days in Mugello were a chance to learn how to get better acquainted and work well together.”

Northern Talent Cup: Watch American Rossi Moor Race At Le Mans

Northern Talent Cup field gears up for France

Round 1 sees the Cup make its debut in the MotoGP™ paddock as 2021 begins at the classic circuit in Sarthe

After a two-day test at Oschersleben for the Northern Talent Cup class of 2021, the time has come to swap testing for racing as the first round of the Cup’s second season appears on the horizon. Le Mans is the venue as the NTC races alongside MotoGP™ for the season opener, and there’s one rider arriving on a roll already: Rossi Moor (FAIRIUM Next Generation Riders Team).

The American-born Hungarian announced his arrival in the NTC in some style in testing, topping the timesheets and giving the veterans something to think about. But now it’s a new track and a very different stage, will he be able to hold his advantage?
Romanian Jacopo Hoscuic (Hos Racing Team) was second quickest as he showed he’s lost none of his speed during the winter break, and 2020 runner up Lorenz Luciano (Junior Black Knights Team) was third overall. They made some big impressions last season and will be the first candidates looking to depose Moor from the top.

Fellow proven quantities Jakub Gurecky (JRT Brno Circuit), Tibor Varga (Forty Racing Team), Stepan Zuda (Motoracing23 Klub V ACR), Niklas Kitzbichler (Racing-Team-Kitzbichler) and Jonas Kocourek (JRT Brno Circuit) were also back in the top ten as had become customary throughout 2020, and if testing at Oschersleben translates into similar close competition in France, there will likely be an almighty fight for the podium.

Le Mans is a new track for everyone in NTC trim and will put the grid through their paces on braking and acceleration, all on one of their biggest stages of the season. Will Moor continue his impressive pace once the lights go out for 15 laps? Or can the veterans fight back? Race 1 is on Saturday at 17:15 (GMT +2), before Race 2 on Sunday at 15:30.

More, from a press release issued by Fairium Next Generation Riders Team (Fairium NGRT):

After much preparation and anticipation, the rookies are very excited to start their seasons.

For Rossi and Kevin, it’s going to be their first time at the world famous Le Mans circuit. They worked hard to prepare, and they will do their best to hear the Hungarian national anthem after the race.

The rookies about to race this weekend:

Rossi Moor (#92): “I can’t wait to begin the season at Le Mans. The fact that this race will be included in the MotoGP weekend will make it an incredible and memorable experience. I have been training very hard and working on my fitness since the gyms are open. Ultimately, my goal is to win both of my races. I am always motivated to win, but winning in front of my racing heroes would make it even more special.”

Farkas Kevin (#28): “Taking into consideration the possibility of rain I preparing myself for a wet race. I would like to at least finish in the top five. The grid will have several riders without a lot of experience in the wet, so it won’t be easy but I will do my best. Preparation has been challenging, but we had lot of opportunities for technical training together with our teammates. I’m confident we will find a great set up with my bike, so I’m ready to get started. I want to be the winner!”

The whole Fairium NGRT will participate in the first race at Le Mans:

Stefano Favaro, Team Manager

Technical staff: Steve Moor, Peter Farkas, Endre Maraz

Katalin Geri, Communication Manager

Stefano Favaro on the upcoming the inaugural race weekend:

“I think that Rossi and Kevin both are able to finish the races in the top 5. They worked hard both physically and mentally. Before this very exciting weekend we are very optimistic. From our side we did our best and provided the conditions for the rookies should only concentrate for the races.

“I would be very happy if we can hear the Hungarian national anthem after each race.

“I’m sure that the guys will make provide a memorable experience for American and Hungarian fans.”

Good news for those who want to see the races live, that it will be streamed at the official YouTube channel:

The other three rookies of Fairium NGRT also start their season in this weekend at Adria Raceway in the Ohvale Coppa Italia series.

Tamás Lukács in the 110cc, Matteo Masili in the 160cc category and Laszlo Lorinc as a newcomer in the GP2 category.

The Ohvale riders’ thought on the upcoming race:
