Patriot Guard Riders of Georgia to be represented at WERA’s Road Atlanta race

MARIETTA, GA — You’ve seen the Patriot Guard but you may not know their group by name. They are the motorcyclists that fly the huge American flags from their bikes while attending the funerals of our soldiers and other public servants out of respect and in some cases to shield the families from those horrible protestors. We’ve proudly worked on these rider’s bikes here at Marietta Motorsports. They always ask me to ride with them because of being a veteran and their relationship with the shop. I usually joke that “my bike doesn’t go that slow” but in reality I’m simply not as “strong” as they are to do what they do. I’ve finally figured out how to “ride” with them: For the rest of the season I’ve wrapped my racebike in the colors and emblems of the Patriot Guard and will represent them while racing in WERA’s Southeast Sportsmen Series Oct 5th and 6th at Road Atlanta.

All Patriot Guard Riders of Georgia are invited to attend Sunday’s race to hangout in their own spectator area at turn 10, eat BBQ and watch me race the Medium Weight Senior Superbike class in their honor. I’ll even get to lead Patriot Guard riders on a parade lap of the track culminating in presenting the Flag for the National Anthem before racing starts!

When these riders gather its usually for a solemn purpose and they normally don’t have people doing stuff for them, So I’d like to thank Process Systems, Inc. of Atlanta for their substantial support for the tent and catered BBQ; friend of the shop Randy Etheridge for being the first to volunteer his help; PGR Gary Adams for being the liaison with his group; and especially The Color Sport of Atlanta, GA for providing the awesome wrap! Another very special thanks goes to Evelyne and Sean Clarke of WERA for helping make all of this a reality.

If you are a Patriot Guard rider or know one (Georgia or not) and are interested in attending Sunday: Please contact Gary Adams through your normal channels to please RSVP. The gate fee for Sunday is $15 (for anyone 13 and up) for awesome racing, pit access, your own parking area, a plate of BBQ, and a couple of parade laps around one of the most amazing tracks in America! A schedule of events is available at www.WERA.com and a track map is at www.RoadAtlanta.com

Of course everyone is welcome at Road Atlanta Oct 4-6 to watch some awesome motorcycle racing but especially Sunday to meet and support the Patriot Guard Riders of Georgia. I can’t wait to see y’all out there and this is shaping up to be one of the proudest days of my life…
