Utah SBK season openers for Superbike and Supermoto are ficially in the books. An exciting new season picking up right where we left off last year with a new look, some new sponsors and same intense racing action.
Round 1 of the Superbike series for Utah SBK took place May 23rd and 24th by tradition on Memorial Day weekend. No greater way to celebrate the sacrifice of our country men and women than enacting our liberties on track at such a remarkable facility as Utah Motorsports Campus. We are proud to announce that Utah Motorcycle Law is back again in 2026 as our title sponsor along with a number of our previous supporters, and new to the series for this season as the premier “King of the Mountain” race sponsor is Same Day Heating and Air. The new KOM sponsor has raised the stakes this year offering even higher purse money for the class with race winners collecting $2000, 2nd taking home $1000, and 3rd place a healthy $500 for their efforts. Needless to say all eyes were on KOM qualifying Saturday morning to see who the top contenders for the cash, and the championship points would be. Current reigning #1 plate holder Anthony” Lugnut” Norton would slot himself into pole position just .1 of a second ahead of previous champion Brian Childree with Ryan Richardson rounding out the front row in 3rd.
Saturdays qualifying sessions kicked off the day and lead into to a very special National Anthem presentation, sung by SLC based Vortex Racing’s own Kaleb Harris, leaving racers pumped to take their grid positions and get sprint racing Saturday underway. The first race of the day and season was the Ryder Gear Moto 2 Expert race where Parker Mayer and Kinzer Naylor kicked things off with an epic battle for the win. Mayer secured the holeshot and maintained the narrow lead until the penultimate lap where Naylor finally secured the pass for p1. Mayer made multiple attempts to retake the position with Naylor defending to the line with just .057 separating Naylor with the win and Mayer in 2nd.

Sprint racing continued until 3pm when the days main event took to the track… The UtahSBK Endurance with Racers Edge Dunlop, Apex Assassins, and IV Haven all representing the individual endurance classes. On pole and in the True Endurance class was the Precision Fab Machinery ZX10 Piloted by Ryan Richardson and Anthony Norton. Richardson started the race taking the early lead and riding his 45 minute stent handing the bike off to his teammate to finish the Job. The Precision Fab team would take the overall and class win. The real battle this round was in the ironman class where 5 riders all had their eyes on the podium at the end of the 90 minute race. Eliu Heredia would Lead the class most the race and especially when it counted at the checkered flag, closely battling with Trever Nosack who would finish 2nd. In a battle for 3rd in the ironman class Robert Jojola and Gary Yost were rarely separated by more than a second over the course of the 90min race, swapping positions multiple times in the final podium position battle. On the very last lap the 2 racers pushed each other to their fastest laps of the race and a drag race to the finish line with Yost falling a bike length short to JoJo who would take that final spot on the box!
Sundays Main attraction as always is the club championship race “King of the Mountain.” The clubs Fastest riderstook to the grid just after lunch to kickoff the money race. Lights on, Revvs up, then light out as racers launched themselves into turn 1 for the 14 lap King of the Mountain race. Pole sitter Anthony Norton fell to 4th on the start with Brian Childree getting the early jump and Parker Mayer nailing an incredible start aboard his ZX6r to slot into 2nd. Childree would lead the first lap as Norton clawed his way back by Richardson and Mayer into p2. Norton closed the gap to Childree coming into turn 5 on the second lap and attempted an inside pass for the lead. Unfortunately the two made contact on the exit of turn 5 leaving Childree sliding off track and out of the race. Mayer and Richardson, now battling for 2nd place would swap positions for the first few laps until Richardson on his borrowed bike would secure the position and inevitably his share of the purse money. The finishing order would be Anthony Norton in 1st, Ryan Richardson in 2nd , and Parker Mayer in 3rd each taking home the points for their respective finishing positions and healthy pay checks courtesy of Same Day Heating and Air.
