SHORAI LFX™ BATTERIES ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL PARTNERSHIP WITH ERIK BUELL RACING WORLD SUPERBIKE TEAM

— EBR Riders Geoff May and Aaron Yates to Use Shorai LFXBatteries Throughout 2014 Superbike FIM World Championship Season–

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Shorai Inc., a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of prismatic cell, lithium iron phosphate power sports batteries, today announced a strategic partnership with Erik Buell Racing’s (EBR) World Superbike race team during the 2014 Superbike FIM World Championship Season. Riders Geoff May and Aaron Yates will both utilize Shorai LFX™ batteries in their EBR 1190RX Super Bikes. The use of Shorai LFX™ batteries provides a strategic advantage to both May and Yates because of their ability to deliver more cranking power for faster starts and overall increased performance. The LFX™ batteries are also significantly lighter than standard lead acid batteries, which improves handling and acceleration on the track.

“After solidifying our affiliation with EBR as the official OEM battery for the 1190RX Street bike, Shorai is very excited to announce a partnership with EBR’s World Superbike race team. Both Geoff and Aaron are incredibly talented riders who are expected to have great success throughout the entire 2014 Superbike season,” said Kevin Riley, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shorai. “We are confident that the EBR race bikes powered by Shorai batteries will be some of the fastest bikes on the track and we’re excited to see Geoff and Aaron compete for wins this season.”

The 1190RX is a direct descendant of EBR’s race-bred limited edition 1190RS Super Bike. The EBR 1190RX has a liquid cooled, V-twin, four stroke 1190cc motor producing 185 HP at 10600 rpm and 101.6 ft-lbs of torque at 8200 rpm. Built for high-end performance, the EBR 1190RX is a great street-legal motorcycle for the performance-minded enthusiast.

“From the beginning of our OEM partnership, the entire EBR organization has been very impressed with Shorai. It was only fitting that we bring that same performance and reliability to our race team,” said Erik Buell, founder of Erik Buell Racing. “Shorai batteries and their state-of-the-art lithium iron technology allows our racers the cranking power and weight savings that will ultimately help us build a championship organization for years to come.”

As the top supplier of lithium starter batteries to the global power sports market, Shorai makes nearly two dozen battery options designed to fit market needs for street, dirt, touring and cruiser motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, personal watercraft, riding lawnmowers and utility vehicles. Shorai LFX™ batteries are leading the market’s conversion from legacy lead-acid technology to lighter, more efficient and higher performance lithium technology.
