R.I.P. Collector, Former Racer Peter Calles

Peter Matthew Calles, fell asleep in the Lord, surrounded with love, on January 23, 2023.  [He was 70.] He is survived by his loving family including his brother Stafford M. Calles (Brenda Calles) and his sister Stella (Howard) Norris, of Sacramento, California; his sister Peggy (George) Vaveris, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; and his nephew Matthew Vaveris, of Atlanta, Georgia.  He will be greatly missed by members of his family and close family friends.

Throughout his life Peter was a passionate collector and restorer of motorcycles and during his long illness Peter’s dear friends and club members were a major presence and joy in his life.  Also, Peter traveled extensively to Greece where he lived during the summers in Galaxidi, his parents’ childhood hometown.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday January 30, 2023, at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Washington, D.C., 721 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, MD 20905, for the viewing from 10:00am to 11:00am, where the funeral service will follow at 11:00am.  Interment will immediately follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
