Jager Stockill opened action for the new Ohvale 190 class in style at the Shannonville Motorsport Park Ko-Kart track’s first round of the 2026 FIM Canadian MotoMINI National Championships, June 20. Twice a representative for Team Canada at the season-ending World Finals in Spain, Stockill jumped to the new “big wheel” 190 Ohvale National class in style and won both races in the opening round.
Second in the 190 category in both final races went to Stefan Tanasic, who stayed closed early. Tanasic was recovering from injuries suWered at the opening RACEMoto Regional at the start of May in a start line incident that also involved Stockill.
Both are from the province of Ontario, Stockill 13 years of age and Tanasic 14, in a category that is age restricted, 10 to 16. For the Ohvale 160 series, racers are from 12 to 16.
In the established 160 category for the spec Ohvale racers, both classes running on Pirelli slick rubber, Tommy Molnar (age 11) made a successful debut, grabbing the lead from the start to win both races, controlling the pace at the front. A strong field battled not far behind, with pre-season favorite Martina Cardenas (age 11) eventually prevailing for a set of second place finished. Both Molnar and Cardenas are based on Canada’s west coast in British Columbia.
In Ohvale 160 Qualifying on Friday, Molnar established his pace by earning pole for both races with a best lap of 51.157 seconds, ahead of Cardenas (51.76) and Will Brown (52.19), age 10, completing the front row.
160 races were defined by Molnar’s very rapid start, his recent testing at the Lombardy Go Kart facility north of Kingston, ON, on display. By the time the pack sorted themselves out, Molnar had an edge that lasted.
In race one, Cardenas wound up just over five seconds back for second, Brown third a further two seconds back. Series veteran Mateen O’Brien (age 14) missed Friday’s Q Sessions and had to start from Pit Lane but worked his up to earn a solid fourth.
Race two finished with Molnar almost ten seconds clear of Cardenas after 13 laps, Brown again third from O’Brien. Fifth belonged to Fadhili Kraemer, the ten-year-old having battled for second with Cardenas and Brown in the early going.
The second 160 race was stopped early with the Red Flag, due to an incident when Abel Byberg (age10) ran oW track trying to make a pass for fifth and fell. Byberg was uninjured and returned to place eighth in the second 160 race.
Best 160 class laps of the afternoon’s CMA (Canadian Motorcycle Association) sanctioned Two Nationals went to Molnar at 50.8 in race two, well under his Q time. Cardenas got close with a 51 second flat best tour, Brown at 51.41.
In 190 action, pole sitter Stockill (Q time of 47.4) pushed from the start with second starter Tanasic hot on his heels, with the winner 8.9 seconds clear in race one and a lesser larger margin (8.6 seconds) in race two. In both Nationals, Eric Sergi was third, a lap down. In terms of ultimate pace, Stockill’s best lap in race two (46.73) was marginally ahead of his pace in the opener, Tanasic also a tenth faster in part two (47.17).
In the RACEMoto Regional round two support action, both Stockill (Super Sonic Race School Yamaha YZF-R3) and Tanasic (Snow City Kawasaki Ninja) made their “big bike” debuts in the Lightweight class. Tanasic won from the hole shot Saturday and Sunday, Stockill second. MotoMINI Team Canada Captain Toni Sharpless was a close third, keeping an up-close eye on her students!
Next National for the MotoMINI racers is at Lombardy, north of Kingston, Ontario, the home base for mini racing activity for the past five years. Stockill lives nearby in Stittsville, ON.
