Josh Hayes was the best of the rest with a 1:27.817 on his Squid Hunter Racing Yamaha YZF-R6, which has not yet been equipped with the recently legalized cylinder head modifications.

Tyler Scott earned the third and final spot on the provisional front row with a time of 1:28.053 on his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R750.

The top five riders were separated by just 0.629 second.
