Defending MotoAmerica Supersport Champion Garrett Gerloff continued his domination of the field during Supersport/Superstock 600 Free Practice Two Friday afternoon at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
After topping the field by 0.8 second in the opening session, Gerloff rode his Monster Energy/Yamalube/YES/Graves Yamaha YZF-R6 to a lap time of 1:26.757 in FP2, outpacing the rest of the field by nearly a full second!
“It went good,” Gerloff told Roadracingworld.com. “I just tried to put in some good race laps and stuff, and the bike is feeling really good, honestly. What we had at [Utah Motorsports Campus] is working really well here, which is unusual because this is such a different track. Everything feels great. I’m just trying to work on my consistency, which I’m good at most of the time but sometimes I need to practice it more.”
RiderzLaw/Aguilar Racing’s Jason Aguilar improved his best lap time on his 2017-model Yamaha YZF-R6 from 1:31.212 in the morning session to 1:29.637 in the afternoon to lead the Superstock 600 field.
