Aussie Dave Captures Motorcycle Track Record with New, Larger Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike Slicks in Las Vegas

DIABLO™ Superbike 125/70-17 Front and 200/65-17 Rear Sizes Available Now

ROME, Ga.  – Pirelli Tire North America congratulates David Anthony on capturing the brand’s first absolute motorcycle track record bounty of 2020. “Aussie Dave” set the new track record on the Las Vegas Classic Circuit at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the WERA West racing series. The achievement came while using Pirelli’s new, larger DIABLO™ Superbike slick sizes, which have been derived from Pirelli’s involvement as the tire supplier for the FIM MOTUL World Superbike Championship.

“We’re seeing lap times drop across the country with our new sizing in the DIABLO™ Superbike slicks,” said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “Aussie Dave managed to crush his previous track record by nearly a half second, which is very impressive. Although he was competing on a different bike, it’s refreshing to know that the tires are up for the challenge and ready to perform at the highest level of racing.”

David Anthony set a new track record at Las Vegas Motor Speedway using Pirelli’s new, larger DIABLO™ Superbike slick sizes

Anthony’s new lap record of 1:14.348 was set during the Formula One Expert race, topping his own track record of 1:14.836 that he set last year. Anthony’s GSX-R1000 motorcycle was equipped with Pirelli’s DIABLO™ Superbike 125/70-17 SC1 front and 200/65-17 SC0 rear slicks.

“The consistent speed I was able to lay down this weekend was impressive,” said Anthony. “The new Pirelli slick sizes have exceeded my expectations that I had set for them, allowing me to continue improving myself and lap times on the racetrack. It’s really cool to see Pirelli setting the industry standard by continuously innovating their products even when they are already on top.”

Pirelli continues to offer a tire credit prize for setting a new motorcycle track record and Anthony became the first rider to earn the reward this season.
