Desert Center, CA — Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association (CVMA) has officially opened licensing for the upcoming 2026-2027 Winter Series and is kicking things off with incentives for returning racers, several rule updates, and continued investment in the race weekend experience.

  • Snowbird Special

Racers who purchase their 2026-2027 CVMA Competition License before October 1, 2026, will receive a $50 discount on RV or trailer storage at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, making it even easier for racers who want to leave their equipment on site for the winter.

As always, racers who renew during the July renewal period will also retain their existing competition numbers before unclaimed numbers become available on August 1.

  • Rule Changes for 2026-2027

While this year’s rulebook changes are relatively minor, several racer-requested updates have been approved.

The biggest addition is the introduction of Formula 50, which will be offered as a provisional class for the upcoming season. Designed for racers age 50 and older, Formula 50 will feature a single race combining Open-class motorcycles, Middleweight motorcycles, and Twins. With limited daylight during the winter months, adding another standalone race is not practical, so Formula 50 will be run as a second wave behind Formula 40 Open.

Additional updates include allowing 400cc four-cylinder motorcycles in the Ultra Lightweight classes: Formula Ultra Lightweight, 500 Supersport, Formula Ultra Lightweight Shootout, Formula 40 ULW, and Femmewalla ULW.

These adjustments expand opportunities for several popular motorcycles while maintaining competitive balance across the class structure.
