Entering the 2010 season, Pit Bull decided to create an award to help a club-level Novice racer with the transition to the Expert ranks…so the “Pit Bull Top Novice Award” was born. It was decided that the top Pit Bull contingency earning novice in 2010 would be awarded a $500 cash bonus in addition to their contingency earnings to help with their racing expenses the following season. Since Pit Bull pays contingency in WERA, CCS, CRA, CMRA, MRA, OMRRA, and WMRRA a rider could be part of any one(or several) of these groups and work toward the end-of-year bonus. Several Novices would go on to earn several hundred dollars each and contend for the award but the runaway winner would ultimately be Chris Birdsong. Coached by Russell Masecar, young Chris Birdsong would win literally dozens of races and even more podium finishes! Chris accrued nearly $2,000 in Pit Bull Contingency earnings on his way to becoming the first winner of the Pit Bull Top Novice Award! As Chris moves on to the Expert ranks in 2011 he will be well equipped with the items he earned from Pit Bull’s contingency program in 2010. Pit Bull is happy to announce the continuation of the program for 2011. Novice riders from several racing organizations will have the opportunity to compete for the end-of-season award.
