AMA Pro Racing Puts Price Cap Of $7500 On All Add-On Electronics In Daytona SportBike

AMA Pro Road Racing Competitor Bulletin #2012-04 To: All AMA Pro Road Racing Competitors Date: 1/20/2012 Effective Date: Immediately Subject: Daytona SportBike Electronics As we move into the 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing season there will be a new protocol in place for monitoring and controlling the cost of electronics in the Daytona SportBike class. The price cap and procedures are as follows: Total Price Cap of all Add-On Electronics: $7500 This price cap will include any and all electronics that did not come on the homologated machine. This would include, but is not limited to the following items: “¢ ECU stand-alone (must be plug and play), kit or piggyback. They must be approved and appear on the Eligible Equipment List. This will include quick shift, auto tune and traction control boxes as well as all other add ons. This should include the cost of any and all necessary communication cables. “¢ Data Acquisition data loggers, data logging dashes, software and hardware that support data recording and analysis. They must be approved and appear on the Eligible Equipment List and must include any necessary communication cables. Lap timers should be included here. They are not regulated by the Eligible Equipment List, but the costs must be included. “¢ Sensors and Hardware Any and all sensors that did not come stock on the bike. Stock sensors and the stock number of sensors, i.e. wheel speed, throttle position, H2O temp, etc., need not be declared and do not get included in the capped price of the system. Any additional stock sensors need to be declared. Any and all additional sensors, i.e. suspension travel, brake pressure, tire temperature, oil pressure, etc., must be declared and their cost included in the package total. Sensors are not regulated by the Eligible Equipment List; however vendor pricing and vendor availability may be confirmed at any time by AMA Pro Racing. “¢ Wire Harness Kit wire harnesses must be declared. Data harnesses will not be regulated due to the huge variances in connectors and construction techniques. Data harnesses must be stand-alone and not impact the engine control/ bike harness in any way. If requested by AMA Pro, the data harness should be removable and not impact the operation of the motorcycle. The Daytona SportBike Electronic Component Declaration/Cost Document can be found here: ~http://www.amaproracing.com/assets/AMAP-RR-DSB-Electronics-Declaration-Sheet.pdf~ It will need to be submitted to AMA Pro Racing Technical Department no later than 7 days prior to the event. It only needs to be submitted once unless additions, subtractions or changes are made. It will be attached to each bike’s technical log book for spot checking and enforcement at any time during a race weekend at the discretion of AMA Pro Racing.
