Airwaves Yamaha is delighted to announce its Wild Card entry into the British round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park. Having won 7 out of the 8 British Superbike races held so far this season, Airwaves Yamaha is currently top of the domestic series with riders Leon Camier and James Ellison. For their assault on the World Superbike races, the team will be aiming to take advantage of data gathered from their double victory at the Derbyshire circuit back in May. GSE Racing, the team behind Airwaves Yamaha, has a history of success on the world stage. In 2000 they took victory as Wild Card entries at both Donington Park and Brands Hatch with rider Neil Hodgson. Leading the British Superbike Championship by 38 points, Leon is looking forward to racing against some of the world’s finest motorcycle racers. “Ever since the team told me we were going to be Wild Cards at Donington Park, I have been counting down the days! It is going to be really interesting to see how we perform against the World Superbike teams. We know the competition will be tough, but we’ll be working flat out to see a British team on the podium at our home round. Hopefully the Airwaves Yamaha fans will be there to support us! It’ll be a tough few weeks going straight from Snetterton to Donington Park and then to Knockhill, but I can’t wait.” Having scored his first British Superbike victory at Donington Park in May, James is eager to continue his good form at one of his favourite racing circuits. “I’ve always loved racing at Donington Park. Scoring my first ever BSB victory there a couple of weeks ago makes the place even more special. It’s a real honour to be competing in the British round of the World Superbike Championship for Airwaves Yamaha. I want to thank them for giving me this incredible opportunity. I know how proud the team is of their winning trophies from 2000, so it would be a dream come true to win a few more.” The British round of the World Superbike Championship will take place at Donington Park on the 26th, 27th and 28th June.
