Tuned Racing concluded a very successful two-day test at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on Feb. 16-17. The goal was to test new parts and products from Galfer USA, Torco Advanced Lubricants, Graves Motorsports, and Drive Systems USA. Robert Davila from Galfer USA came out to provide support and assist with setting the bikes up with Galfer rotors and pads. Jason Aguilar, a long-time Galfer pad user, loved the addition of the Galfer Standard Wave® Rotor to his Tuned Racing Yamaha R6. Bryce Prince tried different combinations and ended up preferring the Superbike Wave® Rotor on his Tuned Racing Yamaha R6.

Jason Aguilar had a lot of changes to his bike. In addition to new the new rotors, he had new electronics with a YEC box from Graves Motorsports, new Progressive Throttle Tube from Graves Motorsports, Graves Motorsports WORKS Full Titanium Exhaust System, Optimal Racing bodywork, Ohlins Shock and Gas Cartridges. “I felt like I was on a completely different bike at first. As I learned the suspension and got used to all the changes, my lap times started to fall and I ended the first day a second faster than my previous best at Buttonwillow,” Jason explained.

New Team Sponsor, Torco Advanced Lubricants, provided their superior Synthetic Racing Oils, Suspension Fluids, Chain Lube, Brake and Contact Cleaner, Protective Coating Spray, Grease, and Penetrating Lubricant. “Tuned Racing is proud to have support of Torco Advanced Lubricants for the 2014 season. Torco is a company with deep roots in racing, so we are happy to have them become part of the Tuned Racing family,” stated Team Owner/Rider Mike Pond.

Bryce Prince, who counts Buttonwillow as his home track, was quickly up to speed and was setting the pace on day one. Bryce then spent time helping Jason, and the rest of the weekend found the two riders in tight formation as they continually improved their pace. By the end of the weekend, Bryce had helped Jason lower his personal best by over 3 seconds. “The first day, I was pushing Jason and not really trying too hard. By the end of the second day, Jason was starting to push me. It was really a lot of fun. I want to thank Drive Systems USA for their DID chains and Superlite sprockets! Having Robert Davila from Galfer USA come out and work with me on brake setup was awesome. I can’t wait for Daytona now!”

Tuned Racing will be testing again prior to Daytona at JenningsGP next month, and getting Roberto Vargas acclimated to the team and Tuned Racing Yamaha R6 that he will be racing in the Daytona 200. Thanks to team mechanics Blair Ramey, and Chris Waters for their support this weekend. Thanks to Stacy Wilson and all the crew at Let’s Ride Track Days for their support.
