SHELINA MOREDA STARTS HER 2014 RACING SEASON WITH A PAIR OF 5TH PLACE FINISHES IN QATAR.

Shelina Moreda traveled to Qatar to compete in the 3rd round of the Qatar Superbike Championship (QSBK) held February 14th and 15th at the Losail International Circuit on the outskirts of Doha. Shelina was with the QMMF Racing Team and competed in the Losail Asian Road Racing Series (LARRS) on a Yamaha R6 provided by Losail International Circuit.

After qualifying in 6th place for LARRS and 21st overall which includes 1000 superbikes which put her on the outside of the 7th row on the combined grid, Shelina was able to move forward one spot to 5th in LARRS and overall to 20th in Race 1. For Race 2 she again got 5th in the LARRS but was able to get to 18th overall. Despite missing the first 2 rounds of the series, Shelina now lies in 7th place in the 5 round series with 22 points.

Shelina Moreda – Team QMMF #218:

“I am absolutely thrilled to have had the opportunity to race in Qatar and can’t thank team QMMF enough, especially my mechanic Agus. I even had the pleasure of shaking the hand of the President of Qatar and the President of the FIM on the grid in front of the television cameras! The Losail circuit was amazing and I am honored to have been able to race and get two top 5 finishes. I am glad to be able to get my 2014 racing season started and next up is heading to Daytona to compete in the AMA Pro Road Racing season opener.”

Nita Korhonen – Director of the Women in Motorcycling Commission (CFM) for the FIM:

“We are really pleased that Shelina, who is also one of our FIM Women’s training camp instructors in Road Racing, got this fantastic opportunity to race in Qatar. She has done a great job in the USA and now she will be able to show her talent in the Middle East. This is also a great example of how much the Qatar federation is supporting women in motorsport. We are extremely pleased with all their efforts and the co-operation we are doing with them.”
