BONHAMS’ OCTOBER AUCTION AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS MUSEUM TO BE LIVE ONLINE

New format highly convenient for sellers as consignments sought

Bonhams’ annual fall auction “Collectors’ Motorcycles & Motorcars at the Barber Museum” will now be exclusively live online.

With last week’s announcement that the 2020 Barber Vintage Festival is canceled as a result of COVID-19, Bonhams will employ the same successful format recently used for their Quail Motorcar Auction – live online with vehicles previewed and offered from regional hubs.

“This method has been warmly received by sellers,” says Mathieu Sionnest, Bonhams US Head of Motorcycles. “Without having to ship vehicles across the country to be sold, the convenience – and in many cases cost savings – can be considerable and feedback from sellers has been very positive.”

As always, buyers will be able to view all lots online in advance and request condition reports. And if a motorcycle or sportscar needs to be inspected in person before the auction, there will be a physical viewing hub where appointments can be made. On auction day, the sale will place live, as with any other auction, and broadcast online. Bids can be made online and on the telephones.

Consigned to this years’ sale – the third in partnership with the prestigious Barber Motorsports Museum – is the previously announced collection of early BMWs, including a very rare R57, as well as  a 1977 Porsche 911 RS Outlaw, among many more collectible bikes and sportscars.

“We’ve had some very impressive motorcycles sell at this annual auction previously with very respectable results,” says Ben Walker, Bonhams Global Head of Motorcycles.

“Examples include the 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross ridden by Steve McQueen in the movie On Any Sunday and the extremely rare 1928 Windhoff Four that both sold for $230,500 each, and the antique survivor 1913 Thor Single that made $51,750, to name just a few.”

Consignments of all makes and models of motorcycles and sportscars are being welcomed to the Saturday, October 10th auction, and sellers are encouraged to contact:
