High Plains Raceway schedules exhibition race, May 16-17

Byers, CO, April 23, 2020 – Colorado Amateur Motorsport Associates and High
Plains Raceway are excited to announce that the first ever HPR-sanctioned
motorcycle road racing exhibition race will take place on May 16th and 17th.

Earlier in April, the MRA made the decision to cancel round 1 of their 2020
championship series.  HPR understands that these are unique and uncertain
times for the motorcycle road racing community as there have been many other
motorcycle race clubs across the nation cancelling events.  However, we also
know that there is an unprecedented amount of pent up demand to go racing
and the options are limited for the two-wheeled crowd.  HPR is in a unique
position to fill that void by running our own motorcycle race event over the
weekend of May 16th and 17th.

While this event is being put on with the support of the MRA, there will be
no MRA points, trophies, or contingency money available.  HPR is working
with the MRA for many of the logistics including the traditional trackside
vendors.  HPR’s intention is to provide an opportunity for racers to stay
engaged in the sport, to do something more than a lapping day, and to come
race for the fun of racing.
