Yamaha's 2008 racing teams.

During a media reception held today at Yamaha Motor Corp, U.S.A. headquarters in Cypress, California, Yamaha Racing announced the company's 2008 AMA series plans.

Eric Bostrom and Jason DiSalvo will continue to compete in AMA Superbike for the factory Yamaha team, and have signed one-year deals. The team is already collaborating more closely with the Yamaha World Superbike team, with results already showing up in a private team test at Barber Motorsports Park held October 27-28 (without, incidentally, the track set up to AMA race spec with Airfence or other soft barriers, according to participants).

Ben Bostrom will join Josh Herrin in AMA Supersport, riding out of the Graves Yamaha program. Ben Bostrom has signed a one-year deal for the 2008 season, and Herrin is in the final year of an existing multi-year contract.

According to Yamaha Racing boss Keith McCarty, the company decided to move Ben Bostrom from Superstock into Supersport due to an announced AMA plan to eliminate the Superstock class in 2009, and because Yamaha wants to highlight the new, 2008 YZF-R6.

Yamaha's Mike Guerra said the company's 2008 contingency program will be announced within two weeks and should be similar to the 2007 program.
