The FIM Superbike World Championship is up for sale in an auction being conducted by Merrill Lynch, with an expected price tag of about $97.5 million, according to a report appearing today on England’s Times Online (http://business.timesonline.co.uk).
The 2007 FIM Superbike World Championship is owned by FGSport Group, which is owned by Italian brothers Maurizio and Paolo Flammini.
The series kicks off its 20th season this weekend at Losail International Circuit, in Qatar.
The sale of the Superbike World Championship comes less than one year after the FIM MotoGP World Championship was sold.
