Rider Robert Horn of Wadsworth, Illinois died Friday, June 9 from injuries sustained Wednesday, June 7 during a Sportbike Track Time (STT) track day at Road America.

According to STT’s Monte Lutz, Horn “highsided his Yamaha R1 between Canada Corner and the Billy Mitchell Bridge.” Lutz said that Horn suffered head injuries.

According to Road America’s George Bruggenthies, Horn landed on the track and did not contact the bridge abutment nor adjacent walls, despite rumors to the contrary. “He ended up 10 yards in front of the bridge, at the end of the pavement,” said Bruggenthies. “He didn’t hit any walls.”

Horn, 51, is survived by his wife, Claudia, and children Gwendolyn, Daniel and Kristi.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 Westminster Rd., Lake Forest, Illinois.
