GEICO Motorcycle coverage clarification parades/exhibitions GEICO just learned that some members of the motorcycle community have misinterpreted our policy language regarding our coverage for riders who participate in parades, processions, exhibitions, charitable events and other group gatherings and community events. GEICO most definitely provides coverage for riders who participate in these community events and it is GEICO’s sincere intention to make that clear to its customers. GEICO does not cover riding behaviors such as speed exhibitions or rallies, stunting events or other activities that pose a danger to others in the event including bystanders and spectators. GEICO supports responsible motorcycle riding behavior and is proud that the motorcycle community participates in group rides or parades in support of various causes or community events. In fact, GEICO is proud to sponsor such events as: The Dixie Biker Foundation – a non-profit organization that supports our Veteran and Bikers. South Carolina State HOG Rally Sponsored Operation Lend-A-Hand to support the Choir Boys Law Enforcement Donated door prizes to Fallen Riders Memorial Fund out of Ohio HOG Chapter 87 event, they support “Packages from Home” which mails packages to troops overseas The Morris County Park Police Motorcycle Run “Pigs in the Park Ride of Remembrance” Fort Campbell Safety Day to support the military 2005 Rock Riders Unity ride to support the Corrections Foundation Virginia State HOG Rally Knights of Pythias Ride Fire Up and Thunder Out Nations Capital Bike Rally in DC GWRRA Shrine Temple Toy Run March of Dimes Poker Run St. Jude Charity Ride Alzheimer’s Ride to Remember GEICO is addressing the language in its motorcycle policy in the states impacted as quickly as possible to clearly reflect the company’s intentions to cover participation by our customers in the types of activities noted above, including parades. In the interim, losses sustained while participating in a parade and not otherwise excluded by the policy will be honored. GEICO is very sorry for any confusion and the company encourages anyone with questions to contact the motorcycle division at 1-800-44-CYCLE.
