MotoGP: Marc Marquez Confirmed For Pre-Season Test At Sepang

Repsol Honda Team confirm Marc Marquez for Sepang Test

Marc Marquez has been cleared to make his on-track return with the new Honda RC213V and the Repsol Honda Team at the Sepang Test on February 05, 2022.

Throughout the winter Marquez has had continual medical checks and consultations to monitor his diplopia. In recent weeks the improvements in his condition saw his medical team deem his recovery sufficient to return to training on two wheels. The #93 first returned to the motocross track before trying the Honda RC213V-S in Portimao and a Honda CBR600RR in Aragon.

Last Monday, January 24, Marquez underwent another medical check which reconfirmed that the treatment has been a complete success and the eight-time World Champion is in a suitable condition to ride a MotoGP bike.

Therefore, it has been decided that Marquez will start his 2022 campaign at the first official MotoGP Test in Sepang before heading to Mandalika, Indonesia the following week. This will be Marquez’s first time back on a MotoGP machine since winning the 2021 Emilia Romagna GP ahead of Pol Espargaro.

The Repsol Honda Team will head to the first test of the new season at full strength with Marquez alongside Pol Espargaro, who enters his second year with the team.

SFLminiGP Creates Path For Youths To Move Up To Full-Size Tracks

Introducing the SFLminiGP Bridge Program

THE CHALLENGE:

As the Mini Moto industry continues to steadily grow, there is a need to have minors transition safely to larger tracks. Parental concerns have limited options available to them when their child is ready to transition to a larger displacement motorcycle. There is a great risk to minors who ride larger tracks, and an accident with a larger cc motorcycle could have serious consequences.

THE OBSTACLE:

Most track day organizations are unwilling to create a 400cc & under class because it would be adding another rider category. The fear of lower attendance to their events due to less riding time for other classes over the importance of safety is a major factor for them.

PROPOSED SOLUTION:

SFLMINIGP has always had the business policy of removing the excuses to get more riders on the track. As we enter our 6th year operating in Florida, a lot of our young riders; and older riders for that matter; are becoming more successful on the racetrack and want to transition onto the bigger venues. SFLminiGP will now expand its series to a handful of large venue track days. There is a unique opportunity to provide qualified minors or adults a format where they can safely transition to a large venue via “The Bridge Program.” The structure would be as so:

·       Two (3) 20 Min Sessions (Lap times designate what group you are in)

o   1st session is for Beginner

o   2nd session is for Novice Riders

o   3rd  session is for Coaches and Advanced Riders

·       Motorcycles accepted for this event must be under 400ccs such as:

o   Moriwaki MD250H

o   Honda NSF250R

o   Tiandra 300s

o   Aprilia/Ohvale RS250SP

o   Kawasaki Ninja 400/300

o   Yamaha R3

o   Honda CBR 250/300

THE BENEFITS:

1.     Safety, Safety, Safety for the riders, tracks and operators

2.     Participants will learn the rules and regulations of the larger venues. There is a difference in approach from riding on a local kart track to being at a major facility. They will be prepared to enter race events such as Pan American Superbike, WERA, CCS and MotoAmerica

3.     All riders are classified by lap times and will not need to worry about larger displacement motorcycles passing at much higher rates of speed

4.     Coaching will be available to learn how to ride on a larger track vs the riding styles of kart tracks

SUPPORT:

·       Local vendors will be available with rental motorcycles and gear to help get more riders on the track for these specified events

·       Ensuring minors meet minimum eligibility requirements to responsibly ride on the track

·       Making certain that Bridge participants adhere to paddock rules

·       Code of conduct and professionalism will be required to participate

Who Can Participate:

·       Minimum Age is 12 yrs old

o   Important note: Children 12-15 must be pre-approved by the Bridge Program prior to the event by either submitting supporting documentation from a MiniGP Location or resume with proper and verifiable references.

·       Not just for kids…anyone looking for safe track time on bikes with 400cc or less

·       No 10” or 12” wheel sized motorcycles allowed

SCHEDULE:

All Events will be held at Jennings GP in Jennings, FL

·       April 28 & 29 (Thursday and Friday prior to the SFLMINIGP Round 3 at Gainesville Raceway)

·       June 2 & 3 (Thursday and Friday prior to the SFLMINIGP Round 5 at Bushnell Motorsports Park

·       November 3 & 4 (Thursday and Friday prior to the SFLMINIGP National Round at Bushnell Motorsports Park)

Kawasaki Launches Kawasaki Performance Oils (KPO)

Kawasaki Introduces a New Line of Kawasaki Performance Oils

With decades of experience offering top performance and high-quality oils to powersports owners, Kawasaki is excited to announce a new line-up of Kawasaki Performance Oils (KPO). Combining updated branding with all-new motorcycle formulations and even greater improved performance, the new KPO product line-up consists of industry-leading products exclusively designed and tested for Kawasaki engines to meet or exceed performance requirements and keep your powersport vehicle running at its best.

Adding to the refreshed branding will be an all-new motorcycle oil blend with the KPO 4-stroke motorcycle engine oil that is optimized for performance and tested and proven for durability. Kawasaki’s industry-leading push didn’t stop there as several performance improvements have been made to the ATV/UTV and Jet Ski® oil categories. The KPO line-up of products continue to push beyond the highest industry standards including JASO and API, resulting in motorcycles running cleaner, cooler, and smoother. KPO products have been developed and tested to provide the highest-rated oil line-up amongst OEMs and in the industry, making KPO the ultimate choice for your maintenance needs.

KPO MOTORCYLE OILS

The all-new KPO 4-stroke motorcycle engine oil utilizes the highest quality base oils and patented cutting-edge dual friction technologies. Modern engines demand better oil due to tighter clearances, higher RPMs, and hotter running temperatures, which is exactly what KPO 4-stroke motorcycle oil was designed for. It has been tested and proven to reduce engine friction while producing high clutch friction, providing the rider with an excellent clutch and shift feel. This new formula also produces excellent engine cleanliness and durability. The KPO 4-stroke oil is offered in full synthetic, semi-synthetic, and conventional 4-stroke engine oil.

KPO full synthetic 4-stroke oil has been formulated to provide the ultimate clutch feel and durability, while providing superior protection under extreme conditions. This motorcycle-specific formula provides dual friction technology that offers low friction in the engine and three times the JASO MA2 clutch friction performance durability. It delivers maximum engine lubrication and protection over a wide range of temperatures and operating conditions, including high RPM, high temperatures, and extreme cold.

KPO semi-synthetic 4-stroke engine oil has been blended with high-quality base oils and superior synthetic oil to keep your Kawasaki protected and performing at its best.  Featuring optimum engine lubrication over a wide range of temperatures and operating conditions, superior engine and bearing wear protection is delivered and a prolonged engine life is achieved through engine cleanliness and reduced oil volatility.

KPO conventional 4-stroke engine oil utilizes high-quality base oils and additives for a formulation that keeps your Kawasaki’s engine and transmission clean and efficient, making it the right choice for owners who want quality engine oil at a great price. It provides outstanding piston cleanliness to help prevent deposit and ring sticking as well as excellent camshaft wear protection for a long engine life. It’s available in several options including 10W-30, 10W-40, and 20W-50.

KPO semi-synthetic 2-stroke racing oil is formulated for superior performance in harsh racing environments and formulated for premix or oil injection systems. The semi-synthetic formula provides superior performance in racing environments with prolonged engine life and power with ash-less detergent and dispersant technology. This high-performance oil protects the engine from deposits, hot spots, and corrosion.

KPO ATV/UTV OIL

The KPO ATV/UTV full synthetic 4-stroke engine oil has been formulated and extensively tested for your engine and transmission to provide superior performance and protection under high load, high heat, and extreme cold environments. It’s designed to work for both gasoline and diesel applications. The full synthetic provides maximum engine lubrication over a wide range of temperatures and operating conditions. It delivers superior performance and engine durability, including excellent bearing wear protection. In addition to improved engine cleanliness and reduced oil volatility, it demonstrates excellent viscosity stability, corrosion resistance, and oxidation control characteristics that are ideal for harsh operating environments required for protection in newer engines.

KPO ATV/UTV semi-synthetic 4-stroke engine oil is formulated to provide maximum engine lubrication over a wide range of temperatures and operating conditions found in real-world experience. Similar to the full synthetic, it’s recommended for both gasoline and diesel applications. The semi-synthetic formula delivers high-performance and engine durability as well as advanced wear protection for increased engine durability and a long engine life. It boasts excellent acid neutralization and oxidation control characteristics required for protection in newer engines while improving performance in older engines.

KPO JET SKI® WATERCRAFT OIL

The KPO Jet Ski watercraft full synthetic oil has been developed and extensively tested for your engine to provide superior performance and protection in harsh marine environments. Using a full synthetic formula, it’s blended to provide superior rust and corrosion protection in high-performance marine engines and designed to tackle the toughest of environments. It helps maintain viscosity at high temperatures, high speeds, and under a high load.

Just like the full synthetic watercraft oil, the KPO Jet Ski watercraft 2-stroke oil has been developed to provide superior performance and protection regardless of how harsh the environment might be. It’s formulated for premix or oil injection systems. This formula provides top performance and protection for 2-stroke water-cooled engines and helps them maintain cleanliness and power throughout the life of the engine. It’s designed to protect at idle and wide open throttle for immediate engine response on the water.

AVAILABILITY

The new and improved KPO ATV/UTV, Jet Ski watercraft, and 2-stroke motorcycle and gear oils will be available beginning early February. The all-new KPO motorcycle 4-stroke oil is set to hit the shelves at your local Kawasaki dealer beginning in April.

World Supersport: Dorna Explains “Next Generation” Regulations

Technical regulations for 2022 WorldSSP Championship and
‘Next Generation’ announced

Rev limits, engine allocations, homologated motorcycles and more: get the inside line and find out all about the new regulations for the 2022 campaign

All of the hype and anticipation ahead of the 2022 FIM Supersport World Championship continues as the regulations for the ‘Next Generation’ machines have been revealed. 2022 will see the likes of Ducati and Triumph return, as well as the likes of Kawasaki and MV Agusta field new motorcycles in the class.

NEW MOTORCYCLES: what additions will be on track next year?

The big headline is Ducati will return to the class with the Ducati Panigale V2 955 and so far, will have six teams and seven riders in their camp. Nicolo Bulega was the first to join as the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati squad move into WorldSSP, whilst the Barni Racing Team also join the class with rookie Australian and much-anticipated debutant Oli Bayliss. There’s a host more, including the return of Althea Racing as Genesio Bevilacqua’s team is back with Federico Caricasulo, whilst Davide Guigliano returns as a team manager for the D34G Racing Team with Filippo Fuligni and Federico Fuligni; CM Racing switch to Ducati with Maximillian Kofler, as do the Orelac Racing VerdNatura team with Raffaele De Rosa.

Then, there’s the return of Triumph with the famous PTR squad, run by Simon Buckmaster. Estonian Hannes Soomer will race the Triumph Street Triple 765 and will have ex-Moto2™ star Stefano Manzi alongside him. Manzi raced at Jerez in 2021 in WorldSSP and achieved a ninth place, so could achieve great things with a full season and a complete testing programme. Buckmaster’s team have already had experience with the bikes too, as they ran Kyle Smith and American Brandon Paasch in the British Supersport series.

Other motorcycles that have been newly homologated for the category are the MV Agusta F3 800 and the MV Agusta F3 Superveloce and the Suzuki GSX-R750.

REV LIMITS: to be confirmed

All rev limits for each motorcycle are to be confirmed after the balance tests have been complete and following close monitoring of on-track performance.

FINDING BALANCE: how will the machines be kept equal in 2022?

So that not one bike has a clear advantage over the opposition, a range of factors will be considered as part of the Dorna WorldSBK Organization (DWO) algorithm. This will take into account aspects such as lap time in comparison to other competitors, speed traps, race results and more. This can be changed every three rounds if needed, to equalise performance further and the balance will be weighted to the data collected during the previous six events. The method of balancing will be raise or reduce the power potential of the machine’s %, with the FIM and the DWO reserving the right to update the balance at their discretion in the case of imbalance.

The initial balance is being calculated after intensive dyno tests with many DWO partners involved. To keep things equal, the tests are all taking place using the Panta control fuel and Motul 300v lubricant. Tests are taking place at RE engineering all overseen by the FIM and Mectronik. Balancing factors may be updated at the end of each season.

ENGINES: new limits for 2022

The 2022 season in WorldSSP sees new engine regulations come into force. For WorldSSP Next Generation machines, no modifications may be made unless they are stated in the text or in the Eligible Parts for Competition List. With regards to allocation, that will now be calculated by the number of events and rounded to the nearest whole number: 400cc – 600cc machines will have one engine for every 2.5 rounds, 601cc – 799cc with have one engine every three rounds, whilst 800cc and over may have one engine for every 3.5 rounds. Engines may be chosen and impounded for Dyno testing (during events, between events or after the season) at an approved balancing facility and for comparison to the reference engine. Apart from FIM and DWO staff, only one team representative may attend the test.

WEIGHT: combined, minimums and maximums

For 2022, a combined weight limit will be used in WorldSSP, with the minimum bike-rider combined weight being 242kg. In the same way that World Supersport 300 works, there will be a soft maximum weight and a hard minimum weight for the bikes. Should the soft maximum weight be achieved or exceeded, then the combined minimum weight doesn’t need to be reached. The motorcycle on its own must never be below the hard minimum weight; there is no tolerance on this and after the race, the bike and rider will be weighed in racing condition, and nothing may be added.

TYRES: new restrictions

There’ll be an extra element on tyre usage this year as World Supersport teams will have less to use; in 2021, teams had 17 tyres to use across the weekend. In 2022, they will have 15: seven fronts and eight rears, one less at each end compared to 2021. Pirelli will supply a minimum of two compounds for both the front and rear tyres, with a minimum allocation of six of each compound
