HSBK Ducati To Unveil Medallia Race Livery on Panigale V4 and V2 During Monterey Speedfest

New livery on championship leaders Petrucci and Herrin’s machines will highlight one of Ducati’s main team sponsors, Medallia

Sunnyvale, Calif., July 8, 2022 – Just ahead of the GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Speedfest at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC team unveiled new race livery this evening on its MotoAmerica Superbike and Supersport Panigale motorcycles.

The livery highlights one of Ducati’s main sponsors, Medallia—the creator of the customer feedback management software platform “Experience Cloud” that empowers every employee to improve the customer experience. Medallia is also the title sponsor for the MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship.

The Laguna Seca round is the perfect time to unveil the new livery as Ducati leads the championship point standing in both the Superbike and Supersport series. Following 5 of 10 rounds in the Medallia Superbike class, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V4 SBK pilot Danilo Petrucci leads the field with 176 points. In the Supersport class, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V2 rider Josh Herrin leads with 174 points.

The unveiling took take place on the front straight of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course on California’s breathtaking central coast. Guest speakers for the livery unveil included Medallia CEO Leslie Stretch, and three-time 500cc World Champion and MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey.

Gagne Leads Ultra Close Medallia Superbike Qualifying Session At WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

Action Gets Underway In The GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Speedfest At Monterey And It’s Close In All Classes

MONTEREY, CA (July 8, 2022) – Defending MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Champion Jake Gagne started the weekend off the way he normally does by throwing down the fastest laps in both practice and Q1 on opening day for this weekend’s GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Speedfest at Monterey.

And if today’s opening day of action at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is any indication, we’re in for a pair of white-hot Medallia Superbike races this weekend.

While Gagne and his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing YZF-R1 set the pace with a 1:23.707 lap in Q1 to take provisional pole position for the two Medallia Superbike races, he’s got company at the top with Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Danilo Petrucci just .232 of a second behind and the top five all within a second of Gagne.

Gagne tamed the wind to click off his best lap on his 11th go-around, his 1:23.707 –  just .799 of a second off Josh Herrin’s lap record of 1:22.908 set during Superpole in 2018.

South African Cameron Petersen was third in Q1 with his 1:24.076 just .369 of a second behind his teammate Gagne. Then came his countryman Mathew Scholtz on the Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 with his best .143 of a second behind Petersen.

Tytlers Cycle Racing’s PJ Jacobsen was fifth and the last rider within a second of Gagne.

Tomorrow morning the Medallia Superbikes field will be out to improve upon today’s times in a battle for pole position. Thus far in 2022, Gagne has been on pole at all five rounds.

Supersport – Herrin, Barely

Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Supersport Championship points leader Josh Herrin led Friday’s Q1 session on his Ducati Panigale V2, but only just. Herrin lapped at 1:26.942 and that put him just .110 of a second ahead of Landers Racing’s Rocco Landers and .346 of a second ahead of Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Tyler Scott.

As in Medallia Superbike Q1, the top five Supersport riders were all within a second of Herrin’s best. N2 Racing/BobbleHeadMoto’s Kevin Olmedo and North East Cycle Outlet Racing’s Benjamin Smith were the two who completed the top five.

Yuasa Stock 1000 – Alexander Leads ‘Em

You can’t get much closer than .005 of a second, but that’s all that separates Tytlers Cycle/RideHVMC Racing’s Corey Alexander from Disrupt Racing’s Hayden Gillim, the same two riders who are fighting tooth and nail for the Yuasa Stock 1000 Championship.

And they have company.

Champ School BPR Yamaha’s Bryce Prince is making his one-off MotoAmerica appearance one to remember as he put his YZF-R1 into third – just .095 of a second behind Alexander and a tick faster than fourth-placed Travis Wyman on the second Tytlers Cycle/RideHVMC Racing BMW M 1000 RR.

Fifth-fastest is Vision Wheel/DiscountTire/KWS’s Geoff May, the last rider on the same second as Alexander and his 1:26.146.

REV’IT! Twins Cup – De Keyrel Quickest

Veloce Racing’s Kaleb De Keyrel led the REV’IT! Twins Cup Q1 session on a windy Friday afternoon on the Monterey Peninsula with the defending series champion besting Cycle Tech Racing teammates James Rispoli and Hayden Schultz by only .301 and .329 of a second, respectively. De Keyrel’s best lap came on his 11th go-around – a 1:30.530.

Rodio Racing/Warhorse HSBK Racing’s Anthony Mazziotto, fresh off his two wins at Ridge Motorsports Park two weeks ago, ended up fourth-fastest and half a second slower than De Keyrel with MP13 Racing’s Cory Ventura rounding out the top five on opening day at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Championship points leader Jody Barry ended day one 10th-fastest on his Veloce Racing Aprilia RS 660.

SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup – Lanuza’s Surprise

Not many in the MotoAmerica paddock could tell you yesterday who Daniel Lanuza was. As Friday came to a close, everyone in the SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup class knew who Lanuza was. And he obviously knows his way around WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca as he won four California Roadrace Association (CRA) classes here a few weeks ago.

T3 Racing-backed Lanuza, who resides in Mountain View, California, some 75 miles north of Monterey, led today’s Q1 session in the Junior Cup class with a fastest lap of 1:38.567 to best SportbikeTrackGear.com’s Max Van by a scant .035 of a second. Altus Motorsports’ Kayla Yaakov, fresh off her first win in the class at Ridge Motorsports Park two weeks ago, was third-fastest on opening day and just .048 of a second behind Lanuza.

Talk about close… the top seven riders in the SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup class were covered by just .353 of a second heading into Q2 tomorrow morning.

Roland Sands Design’s Super Hooligans National Championship – DiBrino!

Andy DiBrino looks as though he’s serious about reversing the order from last year’s Roland Sands Design’s Super Hooligan National Championship round here at Laguna when he lost out to Chris Fillmore by a fraction of a second.

JLC Concrete/KTM/DiBrino Racing’s DiBrino got things started on the right foot by taking provisional pole position with a lap of 1:30.635 to top Roland Sands Design’s Jeremy McWilliams, the Ulsterman .060 of a second faster than his teammate Tyler O’Hara.

KTM’s Fillmore, meanwhile, ended the day in fourth, 1.4 seconds behind the man he beat in last year’s race, in what is his first MotoAmerica outing of the year.

Sunnyvale, Calif., July 8, 2022 – Danilo Petrucci (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC) wasted no time getting down to business at Laguna Seca for the sixth round of the 2022 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.

Petrucci leads the championship by 11 points over rival Jake Gagne (Yamaha), ended the day P2 after circulating 27 times over the two sessions run on Friday at the venue he last raced at in 2013 MotoGP.

Focusing on altering the set-up of the factory Ducati to match the unique demands of Laguna Seca, Petrucci was happy with the day’s result but knows this is a crucial round for his championship aspirations.

Qualifying 1 Results—Top 5

P1 – Jake Gagne (Yamaha) 1:23.707

P2 – Danilo Petrucci (Ducati) 1:23.939

P3 – Cameron Petersen (Yamaha) 1:24.076

P4 – Mathew Scholtz (Yamaha) 1:24.219

P5 – PJ Jacobsen (BMW) 1:24.516

Danilo Petrucci (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – #9) : “It was a good day to come back to Laguna Seca, it’s been a long time!” Petrucci laughed. “It’s a little less shocking than in 2013 because for a rider that visits this track for the first time. There are many blind corners and bumps, and you need to know how to navigate the Corkscrew because it’s so blind it can be hard to know where you are. Today has been positive, but we have a bit of chatter we need to get rid of from the front end, and we are trying to get more stability from the rear under acceleration. Let’s see if we can solve this issue tomorrow. I want to get back on the top step of the podium and it’s a good opportunity for us at this track.”

Canadian Superbike: Dumas Best In Unofficial Practice At Calabogie

Dumas paces Young through Friday test at Calabogie

Calabogie, ON – A return to familiar territory brought early results for Alex Dumas on Friday, as the defending CSBK Pro Superbike champion topped the unofficial timesheets at the Pro 6 Cycle trackday at Calabogie Motorsports Park.

Official CSBK timing was unavailable ahead of their round two doubleheader this weekend, July 9-10, but that didn’t stop the Pro frontrunners from setting a blistering pace in the afternoon sessions, with Dumas clocking in at an unofficial 2:01.478 in the final moments of the day.

That lap was already on par with the early practice pace from a year ago, where Dumas went on to set a weekend-best time of 2:00.640, though conditions are looking far more favourable this weekend for the Liqui Moly/Fast School Suzuki rider.

While Dumas’ place atop the times is hardly surprising given his success at Calabogie last season, it admittedly does not show the full picture as rival Ben Young did not register a flying lap in the final session. Young was credited as going faster than Dumas in the second afternoon session, but his unofficial time of 2:02.270 was unable to match up with the better track conditions later in the day.

Young’s pace mostly matched Dumas’ whenever the duo shared the track, which is an especially good sight for the 2019 champion as he finally debuted his brand new 2022 Van Dolder’s Home Team BMW M1000RR machine.

Trailing the duo in the combined unofficial times was Trevor Daley, who fought through the traffic to clock in at a 2:03.397 in the final session. The OneSpeed Suzuki rider has perhaps the best shot of joining the regular duo up front this weekend, and Friday’s fast start will only boost those odds as he looks for his first career Pro Superbike victory.

Michael Leon had the most consistent day of anyone in the Superbike field, running inside the top-four in all three afternoon sessions as he wound up with the fourth-best unofficial time in the combined results at a 2:04.366.

The Royal Distributing BMW rider is looking to put a tough opening round behind him as he returns to Calabogie, the track where he won his Pro 6 GP regional championship last season, and is on the right track to do so after an excellent Friday.

Just narrowly behind Leon was another local talent in Sebastien Tremblay, who clocked in just 0.022 seconds slower in fifth. Tremblay went third-fastest in the first two afternoon sessions but didn’t get a clean lap in under the best conditions in session three, though the Turcotte Performance Kawasaki rider remains one of the strongest threats for a podium this weekend.

Another Turcotte Performance rider got off to a strong start on Friday, though Christian Allard did so on a brand-new machine as he clocked the sixth-fastest unofficial time aboard his Ducati, a big boost for the Italian manufacturer as he makes his 2022 debut this weekend.

Narrowly losing out to Allard was fellow local star Samuel Guerin, who ramped up his times over the course of the day but still wound up 0.128 seconds off the sixth-fastest mark aboard his EFC Group BMW.

A number of top Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike riders also got their weekends underway on Friday, though they did not register any times ahead of the first official CSBK action on Saturday.

Championship leader Trevor Dion got acquainted with the Calabogie circuit as he makes his Pro debut there this weekend, though he looked like he had some ground to make up on Saturday as rival David MacKay and local standout Phillippe Masse both pushed the limits in the afternoon sessions.

The full schedule of weekend action can be found on the series’ official website at csbk.ca, while tickets are still available for the round two doubleheader online.

Sunnyvale, Calif., July 8, 2022 – Josh Herrin (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC) put the heat on his competitors at Laguna Seca for the fifth round of the 2022 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, taking P1 in both opening practice and the first qualifying sessions.

Under the glorious sunshine, Herrin celebrated the arrival of Medallia as a new team sponsor by completing 29 laps of the legendary 2.238-mile venue across both sessions, ending the day with the best time of 1:26.942, 0.110s up on Yamaha’s Rocco Landers, with Suzuki’s Tyler Scott 0.346s following.

Qualifying 1 Results—Top 5

P1 – Josh Herrin (Ducati) 1:26.942

P2 – Rocco Landers (Yamaha) 1:27.052

P3 – Tyler Scott (Suzuki) 1:27.288

P4 – Kevin Olmedo (Yamaha) 1:27.524

P5 – Benjamin Smith (Yamaha) 1:27.536

Josh Herrin (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – 2) : “It was a good day,” Herrin said immediately after Q1. “We tried a tire in the qualifying session that we thought would be the race tire, but I wasn’t comfortable with it. Even so, we still managed to take P1 in the session, but I feel we would have been faster with a different compound, and I’m thrilled to take P1 today in front of the Medallia folks for their first time as a team sponsor.”

Herrin and his Panigale V2 will be on track tomorrow at 10:55 am PST for Qualifying 2, with Race One scheduled for 2:10 pm PST.

Under the glorious sunshine, Herrin celebrated the arrival of Medallia as a new team sponsor by completing 29 laps of the legendary 2.238-mile venue across both sessions, ending the day with the best time of 1:26.942, 0.110s up on Yamaha’s Rocco Landers, with Suzuki’s Tyler Scott 0.346s following.

Qualifying 1 Results—Top 5

P1 – Josh Herrin (Ducati) 1:26.942

P2 – Rocco Landers (Yamaha) 1:27.052

P3 – Tyler Scott (Suzuki) 1:27.288

P4 – Kevin Olmedo (Yamaha) 1:27.524
