Damon Motors Preparing For 2023 Deliveries Of Its Electric Sportbikes

Damon Motors Exceeds $90M Order Backlog; Company Eyes Potential $250M Signed Customers Globally

Production Preparations Underway for 2023 Deliveries

VANCOUVER, BC – Damon Motors, the premier EV motorbike company, today announced its order book has exceeded a $90M order backlog to date globally with the potential of exceeding $250M through international partnerships, like the one with Latin America’s  Auteco. The makers of the first EV motorcycle capable of outperforming the best gas-powered superbikes, Damon’s products boast never-before-seen technology advancements including HyperDrive™, Co-Pilot™ and Shift™, designed to solve problems experienced across every other motorcycle in the world. Combined with its astonishing 200 hp / 200 mph / 200 miles of range, Damon motorcycles represent the first breed of bikes ready to displace combustion two-wheelers and lead the industry into a greener future.

“You can’t be the future of anything if you’re not better than the past,” says Co-Founder and CEO Jay Giraud. “It was necessary for us to target performance metrics as good or better than anything achieved before, otherwise people aren’t going to go electric in any meaningful numbers. This is the fundamental Achilles’ heel in the two-wheel EV industry so far. Nobody will trade in for an electric motorbike if it’s not as good as what they already have—people want to trade up.”

With over 160 million motorcycles produced annually, the industry is responsible for being the second worst emitter of greenhouse gas emissions. Yet this staggering figure is overshadowed: motorcycles on average produce 16 times more hydrocarbons than passenger cars, which are outnumbered by motorcycle usage daily. To compound matters, a report from Ian Savage at Northwestern University finds today’s motorcycle accidents account for 212 deaths per one billion passenger miles, compared with cars at just seven. The majority of these accidents occur in intersections caused by car drivers, but are also attributed to a lack of evasive action by motorcycle riders. It was these facts combined with his passion for motorcycling that led Mr. Giraud and Co-Founder Dom Kwong to found the company.

“We have to get to one-million units annually to put a dent in the industry and change it forever,” adds Giraud. “By coupling high-volume production with our 5G connected, sensor-enabled, self-learning compute system, we can make it so that every mile ridden on a Damon motorcycle makes all other Damon motorcycles smarter and safer with over-the-air updates. We can cause the accident rates to perpetually fall over the coming decade. This is our 2030 goal.”

With over 3500 waiting customers, the company is furiously preparing its pilot production facility in San Rafael, Calif. for its California customers, where over 25 percent of Damon’s orders currently reside. To prepare to scale manufacturing, Damon has also leased a 108,000 sq ft facility in Vancouver, Canada, being readied for world production.

DAMON: TRANSFORMING ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES

Damon’s award-winning electric superbikes, including HyperSport and HyperFighter, offer unparalleled safety, comfort, 5G connectivity and performance with groundbreaking technology and zero tailpipe emissions. Proprietary features include its CoPilot™ 360º advanced warning system, complete with a 7” LCD display that streams a rearview from the rear-facing camera; Shift™, which transforms the riding position between sport and commuter modes while in motion; and HyperDrive™, the world’s first monocoque constructed, 100 percent electric, multi-variant powertrain platform, which enables Damon to rapidly introduce new models that share 85 percent of the parts of its sibling models. By using the frame of the battery as the motorcycle’s chassis, HyperDrive has also achieved unprecedented weight advantages, which allows it to yield breakthrough levels of energy density, leading to its 200 miles of combined city/hwy range capability. At 201 Wh/kg, this represents almost double the energy density per pound of weight than its competitors Zero and Livewire (NYSE:LVWR). In short: more miles per dollar.

Coupled with Damon’s proprietary 150 kW 6-phase liquid cooled IPM motor-gearbox, Damon’s HyperSport and HyperFighter deliver earth shattering numbers: Over 200 hp and 230 nm of torque, capable of spinning up to 18,000 rpm. At 754 W / Kg, the motor delivers more than double the power per pound of weight than a Tesla motor, and more than triple its competitors Zero and Livewire (NYSE:LVWR).

MotoGP: Miller Happy And Proud To Do Home GP In Factory Ducati Colors

The Ducati Lenovo Team is already in Phillip Island for the Australian GP, Jack Miller’s home race

The Ducati Lenovo Team has arrived in Australia to contest the third-to-last round of the 2022 MotoGP season, the Australian GP, at the Philip Island Grand Prix Circuit this weekend.

The track, about a two-hour drive from Melbourne, hosted the World Championship on 25 occasions before the pandemic, forcing organizers to cancel the 2020 and 2021 editions. So far, Ducati has had four wins and 11 podiums at the Australian circuit, the most recent being Jack Miller’s third-place finish in 2019 with the Desmosedici GP bike of the Pramac Racing Team.

Miller will race his home Grand Prix here and will do so for the first time wearing the colours of the factory team. Winner of the Japanese GP and fresh off a second place in the last round held in Thailand, the Australian rider will be hunting another success in front of his home crowd. For Pecco Bagnaia as well, third in Buriram, the Australian GP will be very important. The Italian rider arrives in Phillip Island with a gap in the Championship of only two points over leader Quartararo. On the Australian track Bagnaia, who finished fourth in the 2019 edition, aims to get another important result for the Championship.

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 2nd (217 points)

“After the Thai GP, I went back home for a few days, and now I’m ready to tackle these other two consecutive rounds in Australia and Malaysia. I am excited to return to Phillip Island, a very fast circuit where we can do well. We are now two points behind Quartararo, but this does not change our approach: we have to stay focused, work well from the first session on Friday and aim for victory in the race. Now more than ever, it is important not to make mistakes. We will see how the weather will be. In the last GP, we regained a good feeling in the wet, but we still have to arrive on Sunday ready to race in any condition.”

Jack Miller (#43 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 5th (179 points)

“I am really very happy to be back in Phillip Island and finally have my home Grand Prix with the factory Ducati team. The last time we raced here was in 2019, and this weekend will be the first time my family and friends will see me racing live wearing the colours of the Ducati Lenovo Team, so I am happy and proud! We come from a period in which I found a great feeling with my Desmosedici GP: the bike is working really well, and my feelings are improving race after race, so I can’t wait to get on track and fight for a good result again.”

The Ducati Lenovo Team riders will take to the track on Friday, 14th October, for the first practice session of the Australian GP at 9:55am local time (00:55am in Italy), while the race will be held on Sunday, 16th October, with the start scheduled for 2:00pm Australian time (5:00am Italian time) over a distance of 27 laps.

MotoGP: Quartararo Says “The Championship Is A Level Playing Field Now”

MONSTER ENERGY YAMAHA MOTOGP PREPARED TO FIGHT ON PHILLIP ISLAND

Phillip Island (Australia), 12th October 2022

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP‘s Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli are all ready and fired up for Round 18, held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit this weekend.

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP crew have travelled to Phillip Island, Victoria, for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. They have adapted a ’nothing to lose‘ attitude and are prepared to go head-to-head this weekend with their rivals to defend the 2022 championship title.

Fabio Quartararo has taken some time to recharge his batteries following the triple-header so he can be on full attack mode in the final three races of the 2022 season. The Frenchman has only ridden a MotoGP bike at the Phillip Island track once before, in 2019. Though taken out by another rider on the first lap that time round, he showed great speed throughout that weekend. El Diablo would like nothing better than a long overdue do-over, and he can count on his team‘s and Yamaha‘s full support. With three rounds to go and two points separating the championship leader from his closest rival in the standings, the Factory Yamaha team will leave no stone unturned to help the 23-year-old increase his lead this weekend.

Franco Morbidelli made further steps at the Thai GP, keeping his positive trajectory going. After a week off, which the Italian spent training Flat Track at the VR46 Motor Ranch back in Italy, he has travelled to Australia for one of his favourite rounds. Morbido is one of the many riders who are a fan of the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. He has good memories of this place: he stood on the rostrum here twice in a row, in 2016 and 2017, when he secured second and third place respectively in the Moto2 class. His best result in the MotoGP class here is an eighth place in 2018.

Phillip Island hosted its first motorcycle race in 1931. In 1956 a permanently constructed circuit continued to host motorcycle Grand Prix events until it fell into disrepair during the late 70s and early 80s. After extensive renovation, the circuit made an intermediate comeback in MotoGP from 1989 until 1990, to become a regular fixture once more from 1997 onwards. Thanks to its terrific location, right next to the ocean, and its flowing 4.4km lay-out, featuring seven left and five right corners, and a 900m longest straight, the Phillip Island track is loved by fans and MotoGP riders alike.

MASSIMO MEREGALLI

TEAM DIRECTOR

The previous race ended in a disappointing way for us, especially for Fabio, but with three GPs to go this is not a time to dwell on negativity. We have a job to do, and we will see to it with a positive attitude. It‘s been three years since we last visited Phillip Island, so all the teams need to go over data from 2019 to find a good base set-up to be able to hit the ground running on Friday morning. Historically it‘s a strong track for us. It suits the M1, and we are 100% dedicated to getting good results this weekend.

FABIO QUARTARARO

The result in Thailand was very disappointing. After Thailand I could focus on getting ready for this final part of the season. I‘ve spent the week training and preparing because the next two races are back to back, and they are going to be really important, but I don‘t feel worried. The championship is a level playing field now, so it‘s a matter of doing our best, working well together as a team, and scoring as many points as possible.

FRANCO MORBIDELLI

After the triple header, we all needed a week off to regain our energy and get everything in place for the final part of the championship. In the Thai GP, my pace was pretty good even in those very wet conditions. That could be important for the upcoming weekend because Phillip Island is known for having four seasons in one day. I‘m happy to be here though! I like this track, and the fans and the atmosphere are really nice too.

AHRMA: Adams Wins Vintage Cup Races, Davis Takes Title At Barber

2022 AHRMA Vintage Cup – Adams Wins the Day, Davis Wins the Cup

(October 12, 2022, Elora, Tennessee) – With a pair of podium finishes Jesse Davis won the 2022 American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) Vintage Cup.

Davis finished second behind Curtis Adams during rounds 23 and 24 of the Bridgestone Tires AHRMA National Historic Cup Roadracing Series at Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham, Alabama, October 8 and 9.

The 2022 Vintage Cup, sponsored by RoadracingWorld.com, features the Vintage Superbike Heavyweight class.  Adams, from Riverside, California, won both rounds on his 1981 Honda CB750F.

On Saturday, Davis got the holeshot and held the lead for the first two laps with Dale Quarterley, from Mooresville, North Carolina, riding a 1982 Kawasaki GPZ1000 and Adams bringing up second and third, respectively, with Jeremy Maddrill, from Steger, Illinois, on his 1979 Kawasaki KZ650 in fourth position.

Quarterley and Adams overtook Davis, and Davis hung with Quarterley, who developed a mechanical and was forced to retire from the race.  Adams held the lead to the checkered flag, with Davis second and Maddrill rounding out the podium in third place.

In a repeat of Saturday’s performance, Davis once again took the lead from the start and was overtaken by Adams, who held the lead through the checkered flag.  Davis came in second and Maddrill again completed the podium in third.

Davis and Maddrill earned the same number of championship points during the season.  However, Davis was able to accumulate the best of 10 finishes which broke the tie giving him the 2022 Vintage Cup championship.

The AHRMA Vintage Superbike Heavyweight class is for motorcycles produced through 1982 with unlimited displacement for twin-cylinder motors and three-cylinder motors with “pushrod” valves. Four-cylinder machines are limited to either 931 or 1,025 cc’s depending on the model.  For 2022, the class is sponsored by the International CBX Owners Association.

Vintage Superbike Heavyweight recreates and preserves the look and feel of this important era of road racing and to showcases these unique machines. Superbikes of that era were based street-legal models available for sale at any motorcycle dealership.  Most lacked the streamlined bodywork, low, clip-on style handlebars and rear-set foot pegs of purpose-built Gran Prix motorcycles.  Instead, riders sat almost upright on the machines. Wider handlebars gave the racer the leverage needed to wrestle the large bikes around a racing circuit.

British Superbike: FHO Racing Signs Brookes, Hickman For 2023

FHO RACING SIGNS HICKMAN AND BROOKES FOR 2023 BSB CHALLENGE

The FHO Racing team is delighted to announce rider Peter Hickman will team-up with Josh Brookes for the 2023 British Superbike Championship campaign.

As Faye Ho’s squad enters its third year, the team will retain Hickman for a third successive season as he is joined by two-time British champ Josh Brookes.

Brookes, who won the title in 2015 and 2020, brings with him a wealth of racing experience, having raced in both the British and World Championships. Like Hickman, he has also raced on the roads, setting the fastest ever TT newcomer lap in 2013.

Since arriving in the British series in 2009, the popular Aussie has racked up 54 race wins, 147 podiums and two championships and is now looking forward to joining one of the most exciting teams in the paddock as he chases his third title.

Hickman, meanwhile, will return to the FHO fold for a third year. An integral part of the squad since its inception in 2021, Hickman will be looking to add to his tally of race wins and podiums next season.

Peter Hickman:

“I’m delighted to be able to say I’m staying with FHO Racing for a third season. This year has been a bit tough at times but we have found form towards the end of the year and hopefully we can carry that into next year.

“It’s always vital for me that I’m with a team I know well and can trust and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere other than back here with the FHO family. I believe there is a lot more we can achieve together and the BSB title is definitely something I still have my eye on.

“Naturally, I’m very grateful to Faye for her continued support and I’m confident that next year we can build on our success so far and grow the team’s silverware collection as we go.”

Josh Brookes:

“I’m really excited about joining the FHO Racing team for 2023. It’s probably one of the worst-kept secrets in the paddock but now it’s out there, I can finally start looking ahead to next season with genuine excitement.

“Each year in BSB my target has been to race for wins and improve and I know the FHO Racing team offers me the best opportunity to do that. Faye and Peter have already demonstrated the potential of the team and I feel that’s only going to grow further next season.

“I would like to thank Faye for giving me this opportunity. I can head into the off-season knowing that I’m set for a really positive 2023. The ingredients are all there to go fast and win races and this is what motivates me to keep racing.”

Team Principal Faye Ho:

“It is very exciting for me to be able to reveal our two Bennetts British Superbike riders for next year. Of course, we are thrilled to be welcoming back Peter for a third season but we are also very excited that Josh will be joining us.

“With two titles under his belt, Josh is one of the best riders in the championship and I am very happy that he will become part of the FHO family in 2023.

“I believe we have signed two of the strongest, most capable and most successful riders on the grid for next year’s BSB campaign and signing two big names like this is just the next step in the FHO story.

“There have been all sorts of rumours and I know a lot of people thought I was going to take my team to World Superbikes, but as you can see, FHO Racing is very much staying here in the British Superbike Championship where we belong and we will be aiming for big success next year.”

World Endurance: Four-Round Schedule Again In 2023

Four of the best! 2023 EWC calendar follows a winning formula

October 12 2022

Preparations for the 2023 FIM Endurance World Championship are officially underway following the publication of the official calendar for the new season.

Featuring four flagship races – the 24 Heures Motos, 24H SPA EWC Motos, Suzuka 8 Hours and Bol d’Or – the calendar has been approved by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).

The events that make up the 2023 EWC calendar are the same four that provided an exciting challenge for the EWC riders and their teams and delivered a thrilling spectacle for fans watching trackside and on television and online around the world in 2022.

And by following a winning formula, EWC promoter Discovery Sports Events has been able to present a calendar that offers consistency and stability during a period of economic uncertainty and at a time when COVID-19 remains a global health pandemic.

Four to the fore for EWC season 44

Season 44 of the FIM Endurance World Championship begins at Le Mans in France for the 24 Heures Motos from 13-16 April. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium is next with the second running of the 24H SPA EWC Motos from 15-18 June followed by the Suzuka 8 Hours in Japan from 28-30 July. The 24-hour Bol d’Or, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last month, will form the deciding round of the 2023 EWC season at Circuit Paul Ricard in France from 14-17 September.

François Ribeiro, Head of Discovery Sports Events, said: “It was very important to build on the positive momentum of the 2022 season by announcing the planned 2023 calendar as quickly as possible and we are very pleased to present a schedule that offers consistency and stability at an uncertain time globally. Le Mans, Spa-Francorchamps, Suzuka, Paul Ricard: we will be racing only at iconic circuits and each race will be a challenge to the riders and their machines, the way endurance racing should be.”

Wednesday, 12 October 2022

The Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is now really in gear! Nearly 250 fans and riders joined Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team), Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Remy Gardner (Tech3 KTM Factory Racing) to ride a lap of the unique Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit on Wednesday, finishing a parade that began at the bridge to the island at San Remo. With plenty of burnouts and a few stoppies for good measure, the lap was most definitely a Thriller.

Festivities began earlier in the day in Melbourne, with Miller and Gardner riding down the famous AC/DC lane and checking out the graffiti, as well as enjoying some special artwork ahead of the GP. Local artists Justine Millsom, aka Juzpop, and Marco Pennacchia created a stunning piece of the riders and track, with Miller and Gardner adding their own finishing touches.

After an arty start, it was next stop: San Remo. There, Miller was joined by Brad Binder to hit the road from the bridge to the island to the Grand Prix track, with the fans saddling up for the ride. Nearly 250 bikes joined the parade, and on arrival at the circuit Gardner headed back out to join them.

Riding Phillip Island is one of life’s great experiences, and doing it with three MotoGP™ riders leading the way added something even more special for the hundreds of fans. Coming to a stop on the main straight for a final photo opp and some interviews – and autographs – the parade concluded in style as the fans now get ready to watch the action from the stands!

QUOTES

Jack Miller: “It’s awesome to be able to do this here in Australia, it’s something I’ve seen done throughout the world and to be able to do it with the Aussie fans is awesome. We’ve always got a massive bunch of people who come down here and travel far and wide, massive distances on motorcycles, braving the cold and rain. It was awesome to finish most of their journeys off today on the track! There’s nothing like coming back to Phillip Island and doing a lap, especially when you can go a little slower and take it all in!

“It’s unreal, heading back into a home GP after not being able to have one for three years. It’s a fantastic feeling to be racing back at home, especially in factory colours after I thought it wasn’t going to be possible to be able to ride in front of my fans wearing these colours. Some big expectations this weekend but I’m super excited for it!”

Brad Binder: “There were a lot more people than I expected and we were lucky it didn’t rain too much on the way here. So far, so good! It was a good way to start off the weekend and looking forward to really getting started.

“I did wonder how I got roped into this haha! But it was cool to have the opportunity to join the Aussies on the ride today and let’s see, maybe it’ll bring a bit of luck for the weekend! I really enjoy coming here, it’s my favourite track, and past results have always been good. I hope the future’s the same.”

Remy Gardner: “It was pretty special, you can definitely feel the energy. I really enjoyed it! It’s been three years since we’ve been back here so the first laps we did, I think it’s extra special for us that we were able to do it with the fans here on the track with us.”

Paasch Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000 In British Superstock At Brands Hatch (Updated)

BRANDON PAASCH TO JOIN RODIO RACING AND BUILDBASE SUZUKI HAWK RACING FOR BRITISH SUPERBIKES FINAL ROUND AT BRANDS HATCH GP OCTOBER 14-16

Making it a trio of New Jersey USA racers invading British Superbikes at Brands Hatch GP this weekend, Brandon Paasch will compete in the Pirelli National Superstock series aboard the BuildBase Suzuki GSX-R1000. Paasch joins Gus Rodio and Anthony Mazziotto as wildcard entries at the final round of the 2022 season.

Paasch, who last raced in British Superbikes in 2021 aboard a Triumph 765 in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, is excited to go back to the UK and compete on the bigger bike. He finished in fourth place in the 2022 MotoAmerica Yuasa Stock 1000 championship aboard another Suzuki GSX-R1000, so he feels he will get comfortable quickly on the BuildBase racebike.

“For sure, I’m stoked to get back to the series where I won my Moto3 championship. I have a lot of friends in the paddock, and I always had good results at Brands. It was a bit of a learning year for me on the 1000, but I was able to grow and figure out how to put the Suzuki back on the box. I’m going to take that and put it to use right away on the BuildBase bike, and I’m thankful to Steve at Hawk Racing for this chance to compete against the top British racers in the series,” Paasch said.

“I’ll still be working with Gus (Rodio) and Anthony (Mazziotto) to help them learn the track and some of its tricks,” Paasch also said. “It’s great to have a couple other Jersey boys there – we’re all good friends, and I think we have something to prove coming over from MotoAmerica. We’ll see – I think it’s going to be a great weekend of racing, and I know the three of us are pumped up to show what we’ve got.”

Paasch is joining forces with Rodio Racing for the weekend, as well as gaining support from the Classic Car Club Manhattan, Three Horseshoes Ecton and luxeStar VIP. Paasch is sponsored by Spidi and Arai.

Fans and supporters can follow Paasch, Mazziotto and Rodio through updates and live commentary on britishsuperbike.com, and they can watch the races live on Motorsport.tv here: https://motorsport.tv/program/bennetts-british-superbike-championship-races/3557

American Paasch to contest final

National Superstock 1000 round with VisionTrack Suzuki and Hawk Racing
American hotshot Brandon Paasch is set to make his first National Superstock Championship appearance this weekend, as he joins the Hawk Racing ranks at Brands Hatch and will pilot the team’s VisionTrack Suzuki GSX-R1000R.

The 21-year-old is no stranger to UK circuits having won the 2019 British Motostar Championship and competed in the British Supersport Championship in the past.

The twice Daytona 200 champion is also no stranger to superstock-spec GSX-R machinery, following a strong campaign in MotoAmerica this season that saw end the year in fourth in the standings.

Brandon Paasch, “I’m super-pumped to be riding Suzuki over here this weekend. Obviously I know the circuits on a smaller bike but I’ve never raced in the Superstock class in the UK before. But after a season on the superstock bike in America I feel ready to go, and I’m excited to see where we stack up against the best guys in the class over here. I can’t thank the Hawk Racing team enough for the opportunity and, thanks to Shane Byrne and all my sponsors for making it happen.”

The company is delivering on its promise with award-winning innovation and unprecedented technologies.

About Daytona International Speedway

Daytona International Speedway is a state-of-the-art motorsports facility and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal’s prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of The Great American Race – the DAYTONA 500. Though the season-opening NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention – as well as the largest audience in motorsports – the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex, also known as the World Center of Racing, boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe. In addition to at least nine major event weekends, the Speedway grounds are also used extensively for events that include concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training. The iconic venue was the site of a host of motorsports events early in 2022, beginning with AHRMA Classic Motofest and the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA in January, and the 64th DAYTONA 500, which debuted the first points race for NASCAR’s ‘Next Gen’ car as part of Speedweeks Presented by AdventHealth, in February. The tradition-rich 81st Annual Bike Week At DAYTONA returned in March, featuring DAYTONA Supercross and the DAYTONA 200. May saw the “Welcome to Rockville” concert and the Heroes Honor Festival while during July 4th weekend, the track, in association with Torneos, hosted the inaugural Daytona Soccer Fest. The NASCAR Cup Series returned for the final race of the regular season with the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Aug. 27, as well as the Saturday, Aug. 26 250 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The 2023 Rolex 24 is set for January 28-29 and the DAYTONA 500 for Feb. 19, as part of Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth.

250 riders saddle up from San Remo to the circuit after an arty pitstop in Melbourne
