Ducati Completes New Eco-Friendly Production Building In Bologna

Ducati inaugurates the new Finitura e Delibera Estetica building in Borgo Panigale

The new Finitura e Delibera Estetica building inaugurated at Ducati was built thanks to a major self-financed investment

The new space will host the final phase of the production cycle, the one in which the details of the motorcycles are assembled and the maintenance of the highest aesthetic quality standards is verified

The space of over 4,000 m² employs technologies to mitigate environmental impacts including a photovoltaic system and a rainwater recovery system which contribute to making the building nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Building)

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 21 December 2022 – Ducati has officially inaugurated the new Finitura e Delibera Estetica building in the Borgo Panigale establishment in Bologna, which is the result of a significant infrastructure investment completely self-financed.

The ribbon cutting took place in the presence of Claudio Domenicali, CEO Ducati, Markus Duesmann, CEO AUDI AG and President Ducati Motor Holding SpA, Jürgen Rittersberger, CFO Audi AG, together with Matteo Lepore, Mayor of Bologna.

Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO: “This year has been truly splendid for Ducati, and the inauguration of the new Finitura e Delibera Estetica manufacturing represents yet another moment of pride. This building embodies an investment that brings value to the company but also to the territory in which Ducati operates. The new space will house a strategic phase of production where we focus on the attention to detail and beauty of our motorcycles so that they are perfect when they arrive to our passionate Ducatisti.”

The new space will host the last phase of the production cycle, called finishing and aesthetic approval, which consists of the final dressing of the bikes carried out by Ducati with a sartorial approach and meticulous attention to detail . It is in this step that parts such as fairings and covers, which are not assembled on the production line to avoid possible aesthetic damage due to movement of the motorcycles, are put on. Finally, each bike is carefully inspected to ensure that it is perfect from an aesthetic point of view, with the aim of safeguarding the highest quality standards that distinguish Ducati.

The building occupies a total area of 4,400 m² and was built over a few months. In fact, the construction work began in April 2022 and ended in December of the same year. The design was developed taking into consideration criteria of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. It is precisely thanks to the use of materials with high energy efficiency, high-performance technological systems and the use of renewable sources that the building has been classified as a nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Building), i.e. with almost zero energy requirements because it is covered to a significant extent by energy from renewable sources.

A fundamental role is certainly played by the photovoltaic system of the building. A 170 kWp photovoltaic system will be placed on the roof, which will make it possible to produce more than 200 MWh of clean energy per year.

An important reduction in energy consumption also comes from the use of high-efficiency air conditioning systems and natural lighting that derives from the use of large glass and polycarbonate surfaces. Furthermore, a courtyard has been created inside the building, which will host an open-air green space, further contributing to visual well-being and to the natural lighting inside the building. All artificial lighting is guaranteed by a system that uses exclusively LED lamps.

The plant system of the structure also includes an underground rainwater storage tank of about 150 m³ which guarantees the recovery of 90% of the rainwater, which will be reused in internal industrial processes.

Thanks to the presence in the vicinity of the building of the bio-monitoring station that uses bees as bioindicator insects, Ducati has been able to analyse the environmental impact generated by all phases of the construction of the new building.

The protection of the environment and the reduction of the consumption of its activities is a fundamental theme in view of the development and continuous growth of Ducati, as well as being an integral part of the Environmental Strategy of the Volkswagen Group of which the Company is a part.

With the inauguration of the Finitura e Delibera Estetica building, Ducati concludes a very positive 2022 which, in addition to seeing it triumph in the racing world with the double title in MotoGP and WorldSBK, has also achieved major economic and growth results for the company.

Canadian Superbike: Ducati Panigale V2 Homologated For Sport Bike

Ducati Panigale V2 approved for CSBK Pro Sport Bike

Toronto, ON – The Ducati Panigale v-twin will be eligible to compete in the Bridgestone CSBK’s middleweight Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike and Amateur Sport Bike categories in 2023.  Series organizers Professional Motor Sports Productions of Toronto, ON, confirmed the rules update following official series Dynojet testing for the 955cc Desmo model, launched by famed Italian constructer Ducati in 2020.

Previous middleweight Ducati twin cylinder offerings include the successful 899, and the history of this model can trace its roots to the legendary 1970s 750 Super Sport. The title Panigale comes from the northern Italian suburb in Bologna that is home to the Ducati brand’s headquarters.

“We are excited about the Ducati Panigale V2 competing in the Sport Bike division of the CSBK Nationals in 2023,” confirmed Bradley Goodbody, Marketing and Communications Manager for Ducati Canada.

“Ducati won the MotoAmerica Supersport category (Similar to CSBK Sport Bike) with Josh Herrin on a Panigale V2 in 2022, and we look forward to seeing our twin join the competition in Canada in 2023.”

The Ducati Panigale V2 will likely become a benchmark offering in the Sport Bike category, since the stock model comes very close to matching the specific guidelines for the class.  Sport Bike entries must weight no less than 350 pounds, wet, and produce no more than 125 horsepower on the official series Dynojet Dyno, as operated by series partner Brooklin Cycle Racing of Pickering, ON.

It will be the responsibility of each competitor or team to ensure that their machine meets these post-race measurement guidelines.  Brooklin Cycle Racing will also offer several options for controlling the performance of the potent Ducati twin, and competitors are free to come up with physical/mechanical or electronic procedures to ensure rules compliance.

“The homologation of the Ducati is an important step in our update of the middleweight format,” explains CSBK boss Colin Fraser.  “We are looking at other changes in Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike series, and everyone from racers to fans are excited by the current competitive nature of this division – the Ducati Panigale V2 can only add to the drama at the front of the field.”

The 2023 Bridgestone CSBK Championship tour hosts an invitational pre-season test for all six series classes at the Jennings GP venue in North Florida, March 14-15, 2023.  The CSBK National tour opens at Shannonville Motorsport Park, east of Belleville, ON, on the Victoria Day weekend, May 19-21.

Australian Superbike: Championship To Race Under The Lights At SMSP

Destination NSW sees ASBK return to SMSP under lights!

The mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul (ASBK) is set to return to Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP) in 2023 and – for the first time ever – under lights!

Through a partnership with Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Australia’s premier two-wheel championship will return to the SMSP complex for not only the ASBK Championship round on March 24-25 but will also kick off the 2023 season with the Official ASBK Test on February 1-2.

ASBK’s return to Sydney’s famed 3.93km Grand Prix circuit for the first time since the final round of 2019, will also be the first-ever ASBK round to be held under lights thanks to SMSP’s full-track lighting system.

The unique two-day format will see action commence during the day across all the key ASBK classes with race activity highlighted under lights at the spectacular world-class NSW venue.

NSW Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said the Australian Superbike Championship would be warmly welcomed back to Sydney Motorsport Park.

“The NSW Government’s strategic investment in the redevelopment of Sydney Motorsport Park, including the installation of permanent lights, has made it an enviable world-class venue for all disciplines of motorsport.

“It will be fantastic to have the debut Australian Superbike Championship under lights at Eastern Creek in March, and the Official Test event in early February bringing riders, teams, officials and fans from all over Australia to the venue.

“We are proud to partner with Motorcycling Australia on this event and showcase Sydney as the home of Australian motorsport, which is a key pillar in our ambition to make Sydney and NSW the major events capital and premier visitor economy of the Asia Pacific.”

Glenn Matthews, CEO, Australian Racing Drivers Club (ARDC), the circuit operators of SMSP: “We are thrilled to be able to host a round of the Australian Superbike Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2023.

“Since their last visit in 2019, over $25M in venue enhancements have occurred and we can’t wait to see the riders battle it out at night under lights for the very first time.”
Peter Doyle, CEO, Motorcycling Australia: “It’s a big year for ASBK returning to SMSP, not only for the first ever ASBK night race, but for the Official ASBK Test in February.

“It’s a testament to all involved to bring this to fruition and to Destination NSW for their vision and support.

“With the level of talent featuring in ASBK today we expect the riders to put on a hell of a show for Sydneysiders and visiting fans from across the country, we can’t wait to see the first ever ASBK race under lights.”

Suzuki’s GSX-8S Debuting At AIMExpo Feb. 15-17 In Las Vegas

AIMEXPO 2023, THE EPICENTER OF POWERSPORTS

IRVINE, Calif., – North America’s premier powersports trade show is fast approaching, and if registrations are any indication, the whole family is going to be here. Attendee registrations are outpacing last year by more than 20%, and companies new to AIMExpo are continuing to sign up for show space, joining an impressive list of legacy exhibitors.

“Not only is our show floor more than twice the size it was last year, we’re also seeing nearly double the number of exhibitors over 2022 — and the show floor is nearly sold out,” said Andre Albert, Director of Marketing and Events, Motorcycle Industry Council. “We are successful because of the ongoing support from our long-time exhibitors, many who have attended each year since AIMExpo’s inception.”

Suzuki Motor USA, LLC, has been leading the way among major OEM exhibitors since 2012.

“Every year, AIMExpo provides the platform for the industry to come together and stay connected,” said Kerry Graeber, Senior Vice President, Division Manager of Sales and Marketing at Suzuki. “Suzuki was one of the first OEM supporters of AIMExpo and firmly believes in the value that this event provides to our industry. For us that means connecting with powersports leaders, building new relationships, showcasing key new product and program offerings, and gaining valuable market insight through conversations with dealers.”

AIMExpo will be the show debut of the all-new 2023 Suzuki GSX-8S and V-STROM 800DE line. Through Suzuki’s engineering excellence, both motorcycles are new from the ground up featuring a brand-new parallel-twin 776cc engine making them serious competitors in their respective classes. Joining the new middleweight motorcycles will be the thoroughly refined 2023 V-STROM 1050 line.

These exciting new products along with the multi award-winning GSX-S1000GT+ high- performance sport tourer and Hayabusa, Suzuki’s legendary hyper-performance sportbike, will be featured in the Suzuki display along with a presence from Suzuki’s Genuine Parts & Accessories showcase highlighting ECSTAR Oil & Chemical products and genuine Suzuki apparel.

Suzuki is looking forward to meeting with dealers from around the country to discuss business and interact with Suzuki leadership while sharing more about what Suzuki has in store for 2023 and beyond.

“We are incredibly grateful to Suzuki and all our legacy exhibitors for recognizing the value that AIMExpo delivers to powersports,” Albert said. “And for helping us bring the industry together, all under one roof.”

American Flat Track: Zabala Signs With BigR Racing

Cole Zabala Joins BigR Racing for ‘23 Parts Unlimited AFT Singles Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 20, 2022) – BigR Racing is excited to announce it has signed Cole Zabala to contend for the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER championship during the 2023 Progressive American Flat Track season aboard a Honda CRF450R.

Zabala returns to Parts Unlimited AFT Singles competition following a highly successful Mission Production Twins presented by Vance & Hines campaign in 2022. The Illinois native finished fifth in the category’s championship standings, boasting a pair of podium finishes among his seven top-five finishes.

Zabala’s performance last season continued his upward trajectory after previously demonstrating his front-running potential in the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles class. That was especially true in 2020 and 2021, which saw him score a combined three podiums and secure a top-ten championship ranking in ‘21.

Zabala will be backed by a BigR Racing team that has enjoyed a similar rise in form. Founded by team owner Ron Belt in 2017, the Kansas-based outfit stepped up to the professional ranks in 2022 and immediately proved it belonged with a string top-ten finishes in its debut Progressive AFT season.

Eager to build on that strong start and fronted by a proven podium talent in Zabala, 2023 is poised to be yet another landmark season for rider and team.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Ron and his team for the 2023 season back in the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles Class,” said Zabala. “Since moving to Mission Production Twins, I always felt that I had unfinished business in AFT Singles to take care of. On this team, there’s so much chemistry because every one of our sponsors has known one another for years. It feels great to be a part of it. I know we have the winning combination to get the job done.”

“I have always kept an eye on Cole and his talent,” said Belt. “After we were able to bring Cole in for two races last year the team knew the mission. Mission accomplished… It’s time to go racing!”

BigR Racing is supported by several of the sport’s leading sponsors. Mike Vinson of Vinson Construction, Mission Foods, ODI Grips, and Motion Pro are new to the effort in ‘23, joining returning sponsors Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda, Scherb Racing, L&R Racing, SPC Racing, VP Racing Fuel, and LBP.

12/19 Update: Added ACS Friday, January 20th!

Saturday/Sunday January 21/22 at ACS have been filling up fast! Therefore, we went ahead and secured Friday January 20th as well so that everyone can take advantage of this last run at ACS.

ACS [Auto Club Speedway] Confirms Track Redevelopment

It’s official, Auto Club Speedway has finally confirmed that it will indeed pursue a re-development of its facility and speedway. After more than two decades of unmatched fun at Auto Club Speedway, Fastrack will move to a multi-prong program in 2023 that provides continued layers of rider development and enjoyment to our track-day family.

Here is a preview of what’s on the horizon:

1 – Multiple tracks: We will run events at various SoCal tracks, as well as expand to adjoining states, namely Nevada and Arizona, that also offer exciting and well-appointed circuits. You can already book, via the Fastrack website, upcoming track days for the first part of the year at ACS, J4Force Camp and Buttonwillow Raceway Park.

2 – Deeper coaching and training formats: We will be providing various engagement formats with expanded rider development opportunities:

a) ProActive coaching, a unique coaching program that Fastrack introduced in recent times, will be available at select events. Coaching by top Professional road racers, available to all levels throughout the day on and off the track, is included with your track-day price. Complete with classroom breakout sessions and lectures, one-on-one lead-follow guidance on the track as well as off-track, personalized, on-demand coaching accompanied by video footage critiqued by our top coaches throughout the day. Look to book these days on our website for April and May with more dates coming later in the year.

b) J4ORCE Fastrack High Performance Camp: This is a unique program developed by four-time AMA Superbike National Champion Josh Hayes; designed for Fastrack riders and racers that want to learn and improve their skills to ride safer, faster, smarter. The course includes lectures and one-on-one coaching by Josh Hayes himself, and flat-track (dirt) drills tailored to help you leap out of your comfort zone in a safer environment while red-lining the fun meter. Practice sliding the rear wheel on a dirt bike at manageable speeds and develop the necessary skills to ride with more confidence on the road course. The first class is already confirmed for February, and you can sign up for it now. Do it early as space is very limited.

3 – The International Track Experiences: Ride the iconic European tracks you see in MotoGP, in an environment fully catered by your favorite track organization. Just fly and ride tracks like Mugello, Portimão, Jerez and others. Dates and track(s) to be announced soon.

4 – Say goodbye to Auto Club Speedway party: Our last event for the foreseeable future at Auto Club Speedway will be January 21-22. Come and rip around ACS and join us in celebrating some wonderful times at this great track. See if you can beat your PB or find the ideal corner entry to your favorite challenge one last time. This will be a very special event.

We’re excited about these changes, now at more tracks and with more options, and Fastrack’s 30-year evolution of perfecting the best track-day experience possible to all levels of riding. The tracks may vary, but the top-notch service and family atmosphere will continue, and we look forward to spending quality fast times together in 2023.
