ELKHART LAKE, WI (June 2, 2023) – With Road America newly repaved, it was a given that Jake Gagne’s MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike lap record from 2021 would be bettered at some point this weekend. Tytlers Cycle Racing’s Cameron Beaubier didn’t wait that long as he completely obliterated the lap record with his 2:09.629 just under a full second quicker than the previous record on Friday afternoon.
Beaubier’s best came on his ninth lap of Q1, and it earned him provisional pole for the weekend’s two Medallia Superbike races. Beaubier also made it clear that he and his BMW M 1000 RR are the combination to beat on the fast and flowing four-mile racetrack. To further emphasize just how good the BMW was working, Beaubier’s teammate PJ Jacobsen was also under the lap record of 2:10.529 with his 2:10.296 putting him second on the provisional front row. Despite sitting out a lot of Q1, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati’s Josh Herrin ended up third fastest with his 2:11.656.
Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Richie Escalante was fourth fastest with Westby Racing Yamaha’s Mathew Scholtz rounding out the top five.
So where was Medallia Superbike Championship points leader Jake Gagne and his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha racing teammate Cameron Petersen? In street clothes and under the team’s awning along with their stripped down YZF-R1s as the team encountered mechanical issues in the first practice session on Friday morning. Four-time AMA Superbike Josh Hayes also took part on a third YZF-R1 on Friday morning, but he also didn’t take part as Petersen and his injured right wrist only got two laps of practice before his bike failed him, Apparently it was enough to show him that his wrist was race-ready, though.
The two Yamahas will try to improve their position tomorrow morning in Q2.

Fong ripped off a 2:20.817 on his sixth lap, and he was the only rider to crack into the 2:20s as he bested Indian Motorcycle/Progressive/Mission Foods’ Tyler O’Hara by .497 of a second. Vance & Hines /Mission/Harley-Davidson’s James Rispoli rounded out the top three to fill the provisional front row.

Josh Herrin (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – #2)
“We had a good day during the opening qualifying session, ending up in position three. Overall, I felt really comfortable, especially due to that smooth new asphalt at Road America. We didn’t show our speed today, but it’ll come.” Herrin said. “As for the fans, there’s more here than I ever remember from the last 18 years of racing here. This excites the team and me, and I’m really looking forward to the opening race tomorrow, looking to place this Panigale V4 R where it belongs—on the podium!”
Xavi Forés (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – #12)
It was my very first time on this track, but I felt strong all around, especially on the straightaways. I was leading the qualifying session for a while, but I didn’t want to burn through my qualifying tires, wanting to save some of them for tomorrow’s Q2. Regardless, my race pace is quite strong here, and hopefully tomorrow, we can fight for the win. I’m looking forward to bringing Ducati and its Panigale V2 another victory here in the States.”

Jake Lewis has been enlisted to ride Disrupt Racing’s Suzuki GSX-R750 at Road America in place of injured Cory Ventura. Ventura crashed during the extended Supersport race at Barber Motorsports Park and broke his left leg. Lewis was sixth in Q1.
RECORD BREAKING END TO QUALIFYING AS DUNLOP HITS NEW HEIGHTS
The Isle of Man TT Races were set alight this afternoon as Michael Dunlop unofficially broke the outright lap record with a stunning lap of 135.531mph on the Hawk Racing Honda, almost six tenths of a second inside Peter Hickman’s official lap of 135.452mph set in the 2018 Senior TT Race.
Hickman wasn’t far behind his Honda rival with a lap of 134.91mph on the FHO Racing BMW with Dean Harrison (DAO Racing Kawasaki) also above the 134mph barrier at 134.216mph.
Dunlop was also in scintillating form in the Supertwin class with a standing start lap of 123.474mph on his Paton, five seconds quicker than the mark he set on Monday evening and six and a half seconds quicker than the official record he set in 2018. For good measure, he also topped the Supersport class.
On a gorgeous, sunny afternoon, it was the Sidecar class that got proceedings underway, and Pete Founds/Jevan Walmsley (FHO Racing Honda) were quickest on the opening lap with a speed of 117.807mph. The Crowes were a little bit further behind on their Haven Homes Honda after lapping at 116.452mph whilst the Birchall’s, yesterday’s record breakers, lapped at a leisurely 81.928mph after stopping at Ballacraine.
Tim Reeves/Mark Wilkes (113.509mph) were next up, and they were followed by Gary Bryan/Phil Hyde (112.088) and John Holden/Maxime Vasseur (112.046), the last two both setting their best laps of the week. That also applied to Steve and Matty Ramsden (111.442) and Daryl Gibson/Tom Christie (111.148), newcomer Gibson continuing to impress as he posted his first 110mph+ lap.
Reeves and Wilkes looked on course to better their time before coming to a halt on the Mountain Mile, but the Ramsden’s did improve to 112.719mph, their best lap of the Mountain Course. Dan Knight/Ben Hughes also went quicker at 110.118mph, their maiden 110mph+ lap.
The Supersport/Supertwin session followed, and the big headlines were made by Dunlop and Hickman albeit for different reasons, Dunlop unofficially smashing the Supertwin lap record from a standing start with a lap of 123.474mph. He pulled off the course at Union Mills on his second lap, but he fared better than Hickman who only got as far as Greeba Castle on lap one. He made it back to the Grandstand to get a lap in on his Supersport machine but with no time registered all week, he’s failed to qualify for the Supertwin class.
Dunlop’s lap was 21seconds quicker than Jamie Coward (121.08mph) with Frenchman Pierre Yves-Bian (119.131mph) impressing in third on his Paton. Josh Brookes was continuing to get quicker on the Dafabet Kawasaki and he placed fourth at 118.523mph ahead of Rob Hodson (118.266) and Paul Jordan (117.455).
After returning to the pits, Dunlop went out on his Supersport machine and topped that session too with a lap of 127.51mph with Harrison (127.216mph) the only other rider to break the 127mph barrier.
Davey Todd (125.715) placed third to give the Milenco by Padgett’s Motorcycles team some cheer with Conor Cummins currently hospitalised with an infection. It was then Mike Browne (125.049), Hickman (124.842) and James Hillier (124.761) that rounded out the top six. Newcomers Ryan Cringle (117.333) and Jorge Halliday (114.942) also made further progression on their 600cc machines.
The Superbike/Superstock session completed the day’s action, and it was most definitely a case of the best being saved until last as Shaun Anderson (Team Classic Suzuki) led the field away from Sam West, James Hillier, Michael Rutter, David Johnson and John McGuinness.
Dunlop was immediately putting the hammer down and opened with a 134.27mph lap, Davey Todd (132.194mph) and Harrison (132.123mph) slotting into second and third until Hickman – who’d started late – knocked them down a spot with a lap of 133.195mph. Jamie Coward and John McGuinness were also above 130mph on their opening lap.
The pace really increased on lap two with Dunlop laying down his stunning 135.531mph lap, more than 1.5mph quicker than he’d ever gone before. Hickman wasn’t far behind at 134.910mph with Harrison in third on 134.216mph. McGuiness (131.003mph) and Coward (130.945mph) also went quicker again.
Late in the session, Josh Brookes posted his first 130mph lap of the week with 131.098mph putting him fifth quickest overall whilst other impressive laps came from Rob Hodson (129.279mph) in eighth overall in the Superbike class and James Hind (128.316mph). Cringle lapped at 121.844mph.
Few riders went out on their Superstock machines but of those that did, Todd – who’d pulled off the course on his second lap on the Superbike – was quickest at 131.080mph with Browne’s strong week continuing as he came perilously close to his first 130mph lap at 129.664mph. Debutante Erno Kostamo set his best lap of the week at 119.806mph.
Tomorrow sees the first races of this year’s TT get underway with the Monster Energy Supersport TT Race 1 and 3wheeling.media Sidecar TT Race 1 taking place. After an unbelievable end to this year’s qualifying, it’s set to be an incredible week of racing and fans can follow all the action live on TT+.
Sac Mile/SDI Racing/Roland Sands Design Indian’s Bobby Fong was fastest during MotoAmerica Mission King Of The Baggers Free Practice One (FP1) Friday at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Riding his Indian Challenger, Fong recorded a lap time of 2:21.573 around the repaved four-mile circuit.

Josh Herrin was third-quickest with a 2:11.802 on his Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V4 R.
Richie Escalante was fourth in the session with a lap time of 2:12.034 on his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R.
Two-time and defending Champion Jake Gagne was an uncharacteristic fifth with a 2:12.227 on his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1.
Four-time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes was sixth-best with a 2:13.051 on another Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha. Hayes rode in the session to prepare himself in case he is needed to finish the weekend for Gagne’s injured teammate Cameron Petersen.
The plan was for Petersen to test his broken right hand/wrist during FP1 to see if he was good enough to complete the weekend. However, Petersen’s Yamaha broke after just two laps and he finished with a 15th-fastest 2:19.012 and unanswered questions.

The racing action for round three of the 2023 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship will kick off with race one tomorrow, Saturday, June 3, at 3:10 p.m. CDT. The Supersport Long Race is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. CDT.

Cameron Beaubier, riding his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR, was fastest during MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Free Practice One (FP1) Friday at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Riding on Dunlop’s new Sportmax Slicks on the newly repaved four-mile course, Beaubier did a 2:10.575, which was just shy of Jake Gagne’s All-Time Lap Record of 2:10.529.
Beaubier’s teammate PJ Jacobsen was right behind him in the order with a 2:10.778.

Compliance status
We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience,
regardless of circumstance and ability.
To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level.
These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible
to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.
This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific
disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.
Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML,
adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.
If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email
Screen-reader and keyboard navigation
Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with
screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive
a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements,
alongside console screenshots of code examples:
Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website.
In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels;
descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups),
and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag
for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology.
To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on
as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
Disability profiles supported in our website
Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.

Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.
Browser and assistive technology compatibility
We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).
Notes, comments, and feedback
Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs. There may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible.
