ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.

NEMRR: Beam Holds Off Doucette To Win Feature Race

NEMRR Round 5 was held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on August 19-20 under near-perfect conditions on both days.

The paddock was a little lighter than usual due to the conflicting MotoAmerica event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, which drew away a number of regular NEMRR participants to PA to either compete, crew, or spectate.  The absence of these riders, combined with a few others who were sitting out due to injury, left the fields wide open in several classes.  Also of note for this weekend was the return of NEMRR Executive Director John Grush, who had a medical emergency at the NEMRR round just two weeks ago.  Grush was greeted with a warm reception during the riders meeting on Saturday where the crowd was glad to see him back on his feet again.

The Expert races started the weekend off with Brett Guyer and his Seacoast Sport Cycle Aprilia RS 660 picking up where they left off last round with a win over Plaistow Powersports rider Rick Doucette in the Robert Pease-sponsored Expert GTL class, extending his Championship lead.

Ryan Imbeault followed suit on his Penguin Racing/Naults Cycle Kawasaki Ninja 400 as he took the victory over his Penguin teammate Robert Taylor in the First Trax GT500 class.

Next up, motard pilot Gunnar Oulette scored the first of his three victories on the weekend with a dominating performance in the PTC Racing Super Singles Class over up-and-coming young riders Trase Boudreau and Henry Woodman.

In the final combined endurance event of the day, the Bauce Racing GTO race was won by Bill Coolahan on the Team RSP Yamaha R6. Coolahan scored the victory over teammate Nick Leighton.

In the Dunlop-sponsored GTU ranks, a pair of of Yamaha R6 riders topped the podium as veteran Paul Duval of Tony’s Track Days came out on top of rising star Michael Lee.

The feature race of the weekend, the Michelin/Motorace Dash for cash, was wide open.  The riders who had dominated the Dash in recent seasons were absent, and the pit was buzzing about what was sure to be a barn burner of an event.  Ian Beam was anxious to truly earn a victory after being handed a win at the previous event by another rider’s mistake.  Paul Duval had been on many podiums in the past but had never secured a win.  Young upstart Michael Lee had been moving closer to the front with each passing weekend and the “King” Rick Doucette needed to put together a good start  to go with his typically strong late-race pace to secure his first victory in several years.

At the drop of the flag it was Duval who jumped out to the lead, followed by the mighty Triumph of Beam and the fast-starting Geoffrey “Frenchie” Bonnard.  Doucette, simply put, had an awful start and went into the first turn buried deep in the pack.  As the early laps played out, Beam chased down Duval and took over the lead on lap four, and Lee charged forward to third as the lead trio pulled out a couple seconds on the remainder of the pack.

Meanwhile, Doucette was charging forward and began to reel off the fastest laps of the race.  On lap eight, Doucete finally made his way up to Lee and took over the position with his classic out braking maneuver into the Turn Six “bowl.”  With three laps to go he set off after the lead duo, and the crowd didn’t know if there would be time for Doucette to mount a challenge.

With a blistering lap 10 Doucette passed Duval and set off after Beam.  Doucette’s last-lap attempt was made in Turn Six again with the two leaders within inches of each other from mid-corner through the entire exit.  In the end, Doucette left Beam a sliver of racetrack to hang on to. Beam used his track position to just hold off Doucette as the pair entered Turn Seven and then managed to hold on to the finish line and to the victory.  It was one of the best Dash for Cash contests in recent memory!

World Supersport: Vostatek Joins PTR Triumph For Remainder Of 2023

Ondrej Vostatek joins PTR Triumph for remainder of 2023

PTR Triumph are pleased to reveal that they will have a new line up from the Magny-Cours round of the 2023 FIM Supersport World Championship as Czech rider Ondrej Vostatek steps in for Harry Truelove to complete the season.

Just turned 19-years-old, the Prague born youngster developed his career in Spain competing in the European Talent Cup as well as the FIM CEV Moto3 and STK600.  A six-race deal in the 2021 World Supersport Championship led to a full-time campaign in 2022 which saw the teenager consistently finishing strongly in the points and also scoring a couple of top ten finishes at Estoril in Portugal.

Vostatek has in fact already ridden with the PTR Triumph team having substituted for the injured Truelove at the Autodrom Most last month where he showed great potential and understanding of the Triumph machine.

Ondrej Vostatek: “I’m really happy that I get a chance like this to continue with PTR Triumph for the rest of the season.  I’m excited and I will put in maximum effort to make a best result.”

PTR Triumph Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “We are pleased that Ondrej Vostatek will join us for the rest of the season.  He showed great promise as a substitute rider at Most when Harry Truelove was injured and we are optimistic he can show us what he can do.  We had a meeting at Horice in the Czech Republic last week and signed the deal for him to test with us at Aragon and do the last four rounds.  We are looking forward to working with Ondrej, he is young at just 19 years old and has great potential. We want to work as best we can as a team to realise that potential and we are looking forward to getting started.”

Awaiting a bright future together, Bienvenu, Johann!

Lucio Cecchinello, LCR Honda Team Principal

“We are very excited to welcome Johann to the LCR Honda CASTROL team with all the respective details and signatures now in place. It is a return to the team after we had some brief time together in 2019, where we could already see his potential and work ethic. There are still a lot of races and work to be done this season, but we are looking forward to the start of this new project in 2024.”

AMA Land Speed Grand Championship Cancelled Due To Rain

2023 AMA Land Speed Grand Championship Cancelled

Significant rain on Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats contributes to cancellation of FIM Land Speed World Records

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The 2023 AMA Land Speed Grand Championship, along with the FIM Land Speed World Records, which takes place on the Bonneville Salt Flats near Wendover, Utah, has been cancelled due to the remnants of Hurricane Hilary and related storm systems delivering significant rain over the past 24 hours.

“We’re disappointed that we’ll be unable to run the AMA Land Speed Grand Championship this year,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant said. “We always enjoy holding this event and it’s unfortunate the weather once again didn’t cooperate with our best efforts to run a successful event.”

Following powerful rainstorms in the area during the past week, and with even more impending rain on the way, the event assessment team — led by Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials promoter Delvene Reber — determined that all track locations and alternatives would not be safe for competition.

“We put it all on the line every year,” Reber said, “and after the 2022 cancellation we were looking forward to an exceptional race surface and return of our amazing participants to twist the throttle and add their name to the record books. It is surprising and heart wrenching to be cancelling due to the impacts from Hurricane Hilary. We know that everyone wants an exceptional experience, and we are looking forward to next year when we can bring world class motorcycle land speed racing back to the Bonneville Salt Flats.”

Reber added that the BMST will be in touch with participants soon with further information. Additional updates will be provided on the event website at Bonnevillemst.com/.

**Depending on road surface conditions, such as wet, loose, or uneven roads, braking distance for an ABS-equipped vehicle may be longer than for a vehicle not equipped with ABS.

NEMRR Round 6 will be held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 9-10.  NEMRR has a fantastic opportunities for riders to join our racing family with our Super Street class – riders can be part of the race weekend with a track day prepared motorcycle!  For more information please visit www.nemrr.com.

LCR Honda CASTROL is proud to announce the signing of Johann Zarco. The two-time Moto2 World Champion French rider will join the team in 2024 on a two-year contract.

Considering Johann’s experience and performance in MotoGP since he stepped into the category, LCR and HRC are excited to start a journey together. Back in 2019, Zarco served the team as a replacement rider, and his commitment and hard work match the values of LCR.
