MotoAmerica: Suzuki Homologates GSX-8R For Twins Cup

SUZUKI HOMOLOGATES THE NEW GSX-8R FOR MOTOAMERICA TWINS CUP ROAD RACING

Brea, CA –  Suzuki Motor USA LLC (Suzuki) announced it has homologated its brand new GSX-8R sport motorcycle for 2024 MotoAmerica Twins Cup championship competition.

The 2024 GSX-8R sportbike features a completely new compact, yet powerful parallel-twin engine cradled in a performance-oriented chassis. The result is a motorcycle that delivers a new standard of sport; one that is ideal for enthusiasts seeking real-world performance, technology, and rideability.

“The GSX-8R is a significant motorcycle for us, our dealer body, and most importantly, Suzuki riders,” said Kerry Graeber, Suzuki Motor USA’s Senior Vice President. “The heart of this motorcycle is an all-new 776cc parallel-twin engine that delivers exceptional performance.  Combining ample torque and a broad powerband, we’re confident the 8R is a great choice for riders competing in MotoAmerica’s highly competitive Twins Cup Championship.”

Graeber added that Suzuki remains fully committed to its line of Supersport motorcycles including the GSX-R1000/R, GSX-R750, and GSX-R600 and each of those models remains eligible for MotoAmerica’s Superbike, Stock 1000 and Supersport classes.

“Our new GSX-8R and GSX-8S are designed to complement our GSX-R line and offer riders a completely different riding experience. Some riders prefer the feel and performance delivered by a high-revving inline four while others prefer the torque and linear feel of a twin. Whether your sportbike goals are everyday street riding, occasional track days, or a full-fledged commitment to competing in a road racing championship, our comprehensive line of sport motorcycles ensures we have a perfect choice for you,” said Graeber.

The GSX-8S, the R-model’s sister bike, an unfaired, naked version, is also homologated for the Twins Cup series.

Suzuki expects this platform to make a strong showing in amateur and pro-level racing. With the GSX-8R giving racers, teams, and aftermarket manufacturers a strong foundation on which to build their racing program, the GSX-8R will be a highly desirable competitor in Twins Cup racing.

Suzuki has a rich history of success competing in Twins Cup road racing. The legendary SV650 V-Twin motorcycle won the first-ever Twins Cup race and went on to earn that series’ inaugural championship in 2018. Suzuki dominated this series for several years, winning multiple championships.

The 2024 Twins Cup series, along with the MotoAmerica road racing championship kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on March 7 through March 9, 2024.

American Flat Track: Tickets On Sale For Silver Dollar Short Track

Tickets on Sale Now for Inaugural Silver Dollar Short Track

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 18, 2024) – Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Silver Dollar Short Track, Round 5 of the 2024 Progressive American Flat Track season, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.

The world’s elite dirt track motorcycle racers will make their first-ever appearance at the historic Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, on Saturday, May 4. The high-banked, 1/4-mile clay oval is no stranger to big names and big-time events, however. In fact, the six-decade old venue made such an impression on auto racing superstars Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet in their formative years, that the Northern California natives joined forces to become the track’s co-promoters in 2021. The duo, along with business partner Colby Copeland (together SLC Promotions), will also serve as co-promoters of the series’ maiden race alongside Progressive American Flat Track.

The Progressive AFT round is destined to stand tall alongside the track’s history with the Grand National Championship arriving in full swing. The stop at Silver Dollar Speedway will mark the fourth close-quarters Short Track showdown in the season’s opening five races, virtually guaranteeing an intense night of racing as Mission SuperTwins aces Jared Mees, Dallas Daniels, Briar Bauman, Davis Fisher, Brandon Robinson, and the remainder of the stacked premier-class field due battle in tight confines.

It’ll be a similar story – albeit with arguably even more potential winners – in the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER class. Reigning champion Kody Kopp will look to repeat his early-season ST heroics of a year ago, but the likes of Tom Drane, Chase Saathoff, and Trent Lowe will do everything in their power to prevent three-peat on Kopp’s part.

There will be plenty to keep fans entertained off the track as well, including numerous vendors, a wide selection of food & beverage options, music via DJ, and designated motorcycle parking.

“SLC promotions is extremely excited to add AFT Motorcycles to our schedule,” said Brad Sweet, Partner at SLC Promotions. “It will be great to experience a completely new fan base and showcase Silver Dollar Speedway on such a huge stage.”

General Admission Grandstand tickets are just $30 (kids 12 and under free), while Reserved Grandstand tickets are $40 (all ages), Trackside Box tickets are $60 (all ages), and Pit Grandstand tickets offer premium viewing experiences for $70 (all ages).

Visit https://www.tixr.com/groups/americanflattrack/events/silver-dollar-short-track-89147 to reserve your seats today.

A recognition that attests the central role that the Company attributes to people and to the enhancement of their talent

The pursuit of excellence, the talent and the passion of the Borgo Panigale team are the key to Ducati’s success

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 18 January 2024 – Ducati is one of the best working companies in Italy. This is attested by the Top Employers Institute, the global certification body for excellence in the field of Human Resources which for the tenth consecutive year places the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer among the companies that guarantee their employees the best working conditions.

The Top Employer certification is issued on the basis of an evaluation survey of HR corporate policies and strategies which extends over six macro areas and involves twenty categories and respective Best Practices, including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Wellbeing, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and many others.

For the tenth consecutive year, Ducati has been reconfirmed among the workplaces most committed to promoting the well-being and growth of its employees as a strategic element of company policies. Team spirit, sense of belonging, determination and passion for the brand and for their work are some of the values that inspire the Ducatisti of Borgo Panigale in their daily life.

For Ducati, the certification represents the culmination of a path aimed at constantly improving the professional experience of its workers. Training plans, IT security, valorisation of diversity and gender equality, inclusive and sustainable corporate culture, digitalization and technological innovation: these are just some of the initiatives that have contributed to positioning Ducati among the Top Employer Italy 2024 companies.

“ Being certified Top Employer for the tenth consecutive year confirms the crucial importance that we attribute to the human component at Ducati and our commitment to encouraging and developing the talent and competences present within the Company” declared Raffaella Ponticelli, Ducati Human Resources Director: “With over 2000 employees distributed across 14 branches all over the world, belonging to different nationalities and coming from various cultural backgrounds, it becomes even more essential to have a company policy that places the person at the centre of the strategy and promotes sense of belonging, mutual support and training opportunities. Ryvid Working On New Electric Model, New Factory In America

RYVID EV ACCELERATES PHENOMENAL GROWTH INTO 2024

Pioneering electric motorcycle maker to introduce new model and inaugurate new California Factory this year. Ryvid Anthem appears at CES 2024 with Weel

Electric Light Mobility company Ryvid has been on a single-minded mission to produce more efficient, lightweight, eco-friendly vehicles for a dynamic world since its inception in 2021. After creating a prototype of its first product – the Anthem electric motorcycle – in June 2022, Ryvid delivered the first production version of its affordable, highway-capable electric commuter motorcycle in September 2023 and is now in higher rate production at its new factory facility in San Bernardino, CA.

Part of the company’s meteoric success can be attributed to a recent grant provided by  the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) to stimulate innovation, technology and job creation. This funding through the California Competes Program (business.ca.gov/california-competes-tax-credit)  allowed Ryvid to hire key employees, accelerate product development, and get American-produced machines into the hands of new and experienced riding enthusiasts in record time.

As part of the master plan devised by company founder and automotive designer Dong Tran, 2024 will see Ryvid complete its factory facility and conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony in San Bernardino. Not only will this allow the company to continue production of its Anthem model to meet the increased demand, but will also provide capacity for new models to join the roster.

The advantage of an American-based production team and manufacturing is that it rejects traditional, complex practices in favor of an extremely flexible, responsive and adaptable process with a simplified supply chain. It will mean that issues, requests and suggestions can be funneled to the engineers and into the assembly area, giving owners direct access to product development.

“Opening our own factory facility has allowed us to streamline the manufacturing process further, speeding up what is already a rapid production process, allowing Ryvid to quickly pivot to new models and focus on new market segments. While growth is important for any business model, we’re going to prioritize the pillars of our company, which are accessibility, innovation, sustainability and community,” Dong Tran explained.

RYVID ANTHEM

The Anthem is a lightweight electric motorcycle designed for commuters and adventure-seekers alike. In common with existing two-wheeled EVs, the aim is to provide sustainable personal transportation as an alternative to heavy, thirsty automobiles, helping to solve a raft of socio-economic issues. Ryvid has sought to keep its concept affordable, doing almost everything in-house and innovating thoughtful solutions to control costs without resorting to overseas production.

Among the key differentiators is a stainless steel folded sheet metal frame, chosen for strength and constructed without any welding, simplifying the assembly process without passing along labor costs to the rider. The ingenuous modular construction of the Anthem focuses on products that are exactly what they need to be; not more, not less. They serve a specific purpose and have allowed the designers to reduce weight and complexity. As part of this process, the team ensured all its major components were located low to the ground, creating a low center of gravity and nimble handling.

With the Ryvid Anthem tipping the scales at just 313 lb, the 4.3 kWh lithium-ion battery and its integrated 3.3 kW charger sits under the frame and is removable to provide flexible charging options. It powers a 72V air-cooled brushless DC motor, which is mounted behind the battery in the aluminum swingarm and delivers 53 ft-lb of torque. Range is stated as 75 miles* using the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule.

Another key Ryvid innovation is the patent-pending electrically adjustable seat height. Long recognized as a major obstacle for new riders, Anthem ensures a wider range of riders can comfortably sit on the Anthem and place their feet securely on the ground. Using a hydraulic ram, the rider can rapidly adjust the seat height at the flick of a button from 30-34” without affecting the rear suspension geometry.

Thanks to its electric motor, the engineers were also able to provide a speed-limited reverse gear. This is yet another feature that helps novice and experienced riders alike, allowing users to reverse out of tight spots or inclines that could otherwise prove challenging.

Capable of speeds in excess of 75mph for highway use, the Anthem requires a motorcycle license but the power delivery and riding position will be familiar to e-bike riders, especially in the Eco riding mode. Sport mode provides a noticeable boost in performance, delivering a high level of two-wheeled entertainment. Anthem uses motorcycle brake lever positions and a twist throttle but the direct drive motor meant a clutch lever was unnecessary.

The high-performance brakes, suspension and Pirelli tires differentiate Anthem from the majority of electric motorcycle brands, giving the rider a level of control, involvement and satisfaction beyond its peers. Anthem also provides an incredible ownership experience that helps to ensure a low cost of overall ownership thanks to minimal maintenance needs, low cost of charging, a significantly reduced parts list to ease repairs, as well as easy storage and charging.

The Ryvid Anthem can charge to 80% in 2.5 hours using 110V or 1.25 hours using the supplied 220V adapter. It carries a two-year limited warranty on motorcycle parts and battery, and is supported by the Ryvid Service Team.

“The Anthem was designed to fill the space between electric bicycles and full-sized motorcycles, empowering a new generation of two-wheel riders with an EV mindset. We’re confident that the excitement of our high-performance, two-wheeled vehicles will also bring experienced riders to the light electric vehicle space as they discover the many benefits of battery-powered propulsion,” said Dong Tran.

Despite its ground-breaking innovation and American manufacture, the feature-filled Ryvid Anthem costs only $8,995 and can be ordered directly from ryvid.com

NEW MODELS

While the Anthem is still a brand new product, everyone at Ryvid is focused on achieving the next breakthrough. The design and engineering teams have been working on a number of new variants and models and is expecting to make some exciting announcements this year.

The company hopes to reveal the first new model in the Spring/Summer, which will add another highly entertaining model to the Ryvid lineup. It will also reinforce the company’s primary pillars of accessibility, innovation, sustainability and community. It’s predicted that the new, American manufactured model will shake up current motorcycle manufacturing concepts by offering riders an extraordinarily flexible platform to attract a wide range of riders and provide plenty of options for personalization.

CES 2024

During the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, an enhanced version of the Ryvid Anthem, powered by Weel, was showcased in the Amazon Experience Area. CES brings together the tech industry, providing a platform for global audiences to engage with major brands and startups, and the modified Anthem attracted significant attention. It captured the interest of many attendees curious about the latest developments in EV technology. We appreciate everybody who took the time to meet our team and look forward delving into the advanced Weel innovations in the future.

And what does ‘fair’ even mean in racing? Mat and Peter are about to find out as they look at how we got here and examine what these new rules mean. Cheers!

With big thanks as always to Brad Baloo from The Next Men and Gentleman’s Dub Club, who wrote our theme song. Check out The Nextmen for more great music!

AHRMA Event to Feature eMotoRacing Varsity Challenge

(January 18, Knoxville, TN) High-tech electric motorcycles will charge up the 2024 American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) road racing season.

The 11th Annual eMotoRacing Varsity Challenge electric motorcycle road race will be part of rounds 11 and 12 of the 2024 AHRMA Bridgestone Tires National Historic Roadrace Series June 21-23 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, NJ.

Collegiate racing teams from the US and Canada will race their engineering student-built prototype electric race bikes in the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) Formula Lightning Series.

During 2023, the University of Michigan SPARK Atlas took first and second places overall in the AHRMA Formula Lightning Series competition with David McPherson piloting the prototype.

During 2024, the University of Michigan will have competition from Quebec’s University of Sherbrooke, Rochester Institute of Technology, Cornell University, and other university teams. Racing against these collegiate teams will be other private teams from across the US.

The university-based prototypes are purpose-built racing motorcycles and represent the latest in electric-powered motorcycle technology.

The AHRMA Formula Lightning series is the premier zero emissions motorcycle road racing series in the US. Bikes may be powered by any means of propulsion that does not emit exhaust, such as electricity, magnetism, gravity, flywheels, springs, etc.

“I’m excited to see what universities participate in the Varsity Challenge this year. Many of these bikes are ground up built prototypes and represent what the future will hold for electronic motorcycle racing.” said Bob Berbeco, AHRMA’s Varsity Challenge Series coordinator.

In addition to the Varsity Challenge, all teams are welcome to participate in any of the races within the 2024 Bridgestone Tires AHRMA Roadracing Series. The series schedule is located here – ahrma.org/schedules-results.

Ducati confirmed as Top Employer for the tenth consecutive year

Ducati obtains the Top Employer certification for the tenth consecutive year, confirming itself among Italian excellences in the field of Human Resources

At Ducati, each of us is part of one big family that wants to win and achieve success in all areas, thus contributing to the overall growth of the Company.”

The past year proved to be a great success for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer which, also thanks to the expertise and passion of the team of women and men from Borgo Panigale, managed to become World Champion for the second consecutive year in MotoGP and Superbike and to win the Supersport World Championship title.

These achievements reflect the constant pursuit of excellence by the people who work in Ducati, who strive daily with the common goal of reaching ever more prestigious results, contributing to the creation of value and innovation.

All the information on the Top Employers Institute and the Top Employers Certification is available on the dedicated website.
