WorldSBK: Bulega Heads Friday Practice In Spain

Nicolò Bulega led FIM Superbike World Championship Free Practice Two (FP2) Friday afternoon at Jerez, in Spain. Riding his Aruba.It Racing – Ducati Panigale V4R on spec Pirelli tires, the Italian rider covered the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) track in 1:38.668 to lead the field of 25 riders.

Sam Lowes was second-best with a 1:38.866 on his ELF Marc VDS Ducati Panigale V4R.

Andrea Iannone was third with a 1:39.074 on his Team Pata Go Eleven Ducati Panigale V4R.

2024 WorldSuperbike Champion, Toprak Razgatlioglu got fourth on his ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team M1000RR. 

Americans Garrett Gerloff was 18th with a time of 1:40.117 on his Kawasaki ZX-10RR and Bobby Fong was 24th on his 1:41.378 on his Attack Performance Yamaha YZF R1.

LESS THAN A TENTH IN IT: Bulega tops Friday running despite FP2 tech issues, Razgatlioglu P2. Bulega pipped his title rival to top spot on Friday at Jerez, but hit trouble in the second practice session.

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) topped the timesheets on Friday at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia as the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s final round of the year kicked off in Spain. Bulega didn’t have Friday all his own way after hitting technical trouble in Free Practice 2 as he claimed top spot ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) at the Pirelli Spanish Round.

P1 DESPITE TECH PROBLEMS: A mixed day for Bulega

Bulega was the fastest rider on Friday thanks to his FP1 time of 1’35.587s, but his day was interrupted by technical problems that he suffered in FP2. He was told about them by Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) and left the track, eventually getting his bike back to the pits for repairs to fix a water leak. He returned to the track with around 18 minutes remaining in the 45-minute session. He improved his time in the final six minutes of FP2 to a 1’38.698s, and then a 1’38.668s, although not faster than his FP1 time. Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) was the second-fastest Ducati with a 1’38.866s he set in FP2, giving him third overall, while Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) was the third fastest rider on the Panigale V4R thanks to a 1’39.028s from FP1. In the second session, ‘The Maniac’ crashed at Turn 11, although was able to re-join the session in the final 15 minutes to take fifth overall.

Rookies Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Ryan Vickers (Motocorsa Racing) showed good speed on Friday to claim seventh and eighth respectively, with Vickers leaving it late to claim fifth in FP2 with a 1’39.339s. Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was left languishing out of the top ten as he finished in 12th place, with Tarran Mackenzie (MGM BONOVO Action) in 17th. Wildcard Lukas Tulovic (Team Triple M Ducati Frankfurt) was 20th; he had a crash in FP1, as did Nicholas Spinelli (Barni Spark Racing Team) who finished in 23rd.

RAZGATLIOGLU ON THE BACK FOOT? P2 overall, fourth in FP2…

Razgatlioglu was the second-fastest rider in the combined classification although he struggled in FP2, finishing fourth in the afternoon session as he looks to wrap up his third title before he departs for MotoGP; he did not complete his customary race pace simulation in the afternoon session, instead completing three shorter stints. His best time was a 1’39.139s in FP2, and 1’38.675s overall. Teammate Michael van der Mark rounded out the top ten with a 1’39.561s that he set in Free Practice 2.

VIERGE FOURTH OVERALL: A good start to Friday for the #97

Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) finished inside the top three in FP1 after a brilliant start to his final weekend in Honda red, as he led the Japanese manufacturer’s charge in Spain, finishing fourth on the combined timesheets with a 1’39.009s that he set in the opening session. Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) did improve his lap time in FP2 by a tenth to set a 1’39.715s, which gave him 15th on Friday. Tito Rabat (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) was 21st while Zaqhwan Zaidi (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) rounded out the 25-strong field.

ALEX LOWES SIXTH FOR BIMOTA: #22 comfortably in the top ten

Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) is aiming to end Bimota’s first season back in WorldSBK on a high and finished sixth on Friday after setting a 1’39.205s, with the #22’s best lap time coming in FP1. Teammate Axel Bassani had been running in the top ten but finished down in 13th place.

LOCATELLI NINTH, REA 11TH: More to come from Yamaha?

Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) was the fastest of the Yamaha riders on the opening day of the Jerez action in ninth after setting a 1’39.514s in FP2. Teammate Jonathan Rea completed his final Friday as a full-time WorldSBK rider in 11th. Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was three places behind the six-time World Champion while Alessandro Delbianco, standing in for Dominique Aegerter (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team), was 18th. Bahattin Sofuoglu (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) was 19th while teammate Michael Rinaldi was 22nd; the Italian had a crash at Turn 11 and was taken to the medical centre for a check-up where he was declared fit. Wildcard Bobby Fong (Attack Performance Yamaha Racing) was 24th.

GERLOFF AIMING FOR MORE: 16th on Friday

Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) finished the day in 16th place as the sole Kawasaki rider on the grid, setting a 1’39.737s which he set in FP1, with the Texan unable to improve his time in the afternoon session.

WorldWCR: Herrera On Pole Position at Jerez

Maria Herrera topped FIM World Women’s Circuit Racing Superpole qualifying Friday afternoon at Jerez, in Spain. Riding her Klint Forward Racing Team Yamaha YZF-R7 on Pirelli control tires, Herrera lapped the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) course in 1:51.572 to top the field of 25 riders and earn pole position.

Beatriz Neila was the best of the rest with a 1:51.880 on her Ampito Crescent Yamaha YZF-R7 , and Paola Ramos earned the third and final spot on the front row with a lap time of 1:51.947 on her YVS Sabadell Yamaha YZF-R7.

Americans Mallory Dobbs got 9th on her Diva Racing Yamaha YZF-R7 with a time of 1:53.184 and Sonya Lloyd finished 17th on her Team Trasimeno Yamaha YZF-R7 with a lap time of 1:55.439.

TITLE FIGHT DECIDER SET UP: Herrera claims Jerez pole ahead of Neila, wildcard Ramos stuns with P3. There were surprises in store during the Tissot Superpole session at Jerez as Herrera beat Neila to pole and wildcard Ramos claimed a debut front row start.

The only two riders remaining in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship title fight will start Race 1 at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia. Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) claimed the final pole position of 2025 by more than three tenths ahead of title rival Beatriz Neila (Ampito Crescent Yamaha) as the #6 took her sixth WorldWCR pole position at the Pirelli Spanish Round.

BATTLING FOR POLE: Herrera beats Neila to P1, a wildcard surprises

Herrera started the session by being the first rider to lap into the 1’52s and she kept improving her grip on provisional pole, improving to a 1’51.572s to move over a second clear of Neila who was running in second, although the #36 improved her time to a 1’52.349s; 0.777s down on Herrera. However, Neila improved further again to see a 1’51.880s, slashing the gap to Herrera in half. Despite Neila following Herrera on the final run, neither were able to improve as Herrera claimed her third pole of the 2025 season, with Neila in second. Wildcard Paolo Ramos (YVS Sabadell) impressed as she claimed P3 on her WorldWCR debut, only 0.375s away from Herrera.

SECOND ROW STARTING POSITION: Ponziani takes P4 ahead of Relph

Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team) left it late to claim a second-row start with fourth after lapping with a 1’52.246s, ahead of Australia’s Talya Relph (Full Throttle Racing) in fifth. The Australian lapped 0.977s down on Herrera’s pole time, but she had about a tenth in hand over sixth-placed Lucie Boudesseul (GMT94-YAMAHA).

INSIDE THE TOP TEN: Jones climbs up to P7

Chloe Jones (GR Motosport) spent her final laps behind Herrera and Neila to improve her time, eventually finishing seventh in the 25-minute session. Pakita Ruiz (PR46+1 Racing Team) claimed eighth ahead of the USA’s Mallory Dobbs (Diva Racing), who set a 1’53.184s to round out the third row. Natalia Rivera (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team) completed the top ten.

WorldSSP : Mahias Quickest In Opening Practice In Spain

Lucas Mahias was quickest during FIM Supersport World Championship Free Practice Friday morning at Jerez, in Spain. Riding his GMT94-Yamaha YZF R9 on Pirelli control tires, the Frenchman covered the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) road course in 1:42.242, topping the field of 34 riders.

Former MotoAmerica Supersport regular Valentin Debise was the best of the rest with a 1:42.278 on his Renzi Corse Ducati Panigale V2.

Can Oncu was third with a lap time of 1:42.702 on his BluCru Evan Bros Yamaha YZF R9. 

2025 World Supersport champion, Stefano Manzi finished the session 7th on his Pata Ten Kate Yamaha YZF R9 with a lap time of 1:42.953.

AHRMA: Crash Photos From The Pro Challenge Race At Barber

Moto2 World Championship and AMA Pro Road Racing competitor Robertino Pietri crashed out of the AHRMA Pro Challenge race at Barber while racing a Petronas Kalex Moto2 machine owned by NOLA Riding Academy’s Clint Austin. Pietri’s sliding machine hit Turner Koletich and both went down in Charlotte’s Web. Austin was one turn behind Pietri when the crash happened. Both riders walked away.

Toprak Razgatlioglu was the best of the rest with a 1:38.675 on his ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team M1000RR.

Xavi Vierge was third-fastest with a 1:39.009 on his Honda HRC CBR1000 RR-R.

Americans Garrett Gerloff finished the opening session in 11th with a 1:39.737 on his Kawasaki ZX-10RR and wildcard Bobby Fong got 24th on his Attack Performance Yamaha YZF R1.

Bulega pips Razgatlioglu by 0.088s ahead in FP1 ahead of WorldSBK’s title decider at Jerez. The top two in the Championship finished 1-2 in FP1, while there were three manufacturers in the top three.

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) set the pace in Free Practice 1 for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s visit to the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia. The Italian star was less than a tenth quicker than Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) at the Pirelli Spanish Round as the final weekend of the season kicked off under sunny skies in Spain.

Bulega was quickest out of the blocks as he immediately went fastest in FP1 with a 1’38.587s as he looks to overturn a 39-point deficit over the course of the weekend to pull off a stunning comeback and snatch the title from Toprak Razgatlioglu’s (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) grasp. ‘El Turco’ was second in the 45-minute session as he lapped 0.088s slower than ‘Bulegas’. Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) put three manufacturers in the top three as he set a 1’39.009s.

Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) finished fourth as he aims to end his time with GoEleven Ducati with a rostrum finish; he set a 1’39.028s. Fifth and sixth belonged to the Lowes brothers, with Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) ahead of Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team). The #14 set a 1’39.048s, while Alex was around a tenth and a half slower in P6.

Rookie Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) finished the session in seventh with Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) ending his final FP1 session in eighth ahead of former title rival Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). Rea set a 1’39.576s as he claimed P8 while Bautista was more than a second back from Bulega’s pacesetting time. Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) rounded out the top ten.

Nicholas Spinelli’s (Barni Spark Racing Team) return to WorldSBK got off to a bad start when he crashed at Turn 1 in FP1, although the #24 was okay. He finished the session in 23rd place with a 1’41.556s. Wildcard Lukas Tulovic (Team Triple M Ducati Frankfurt) also crashed at Turn 1 in the final 10 minutes of the session. He finished in 20th.

MotoGP : Bezzecchi Cracks Lap Record at Phillip Island

Marco Bezzecchi led MotoGP World Championship practice Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Aprilia Racing RS-GP25 on spec Michelin tires, the Italian turned a lap time of 1:26.492. Not only was that good enough to lead the 22-rider field, it was also good enough to eclipse Jorge Martin’s 2023 All-Time Lap Record of 1:27.246.

Raul Fernandez was the best of the rest with a 1:26.783 on his Trackhouse Aprilia RS-GP25.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was third at 1:26.912 on his Pertamina Enduro VR46 Ducati Desmosedici GP25.

Fabio Quartararo finished the session fourth with a 1:26.926 on his Monster Energy Yamaha YZR-M1.

Alex Marquez got fifth on his BK8 Gresini Ducati Desmosedici GP24.

Blistering Bezzecchi sets new lap record to clinch Day 1 honours Down Under. Aprilia are handed a 1-2 on Friday thanks to the Italian and Fernandez’s efforts in Practice, as Aldeguer misses the automatic Q2 cut at Phillip Island.

Talk about smashing the previous lap record! Marco Bezzecchi’s (Aprilia Racing) unbelievably rapid 1:26.492 sees the Italian comfortably lead the MotoGP pack heading into Saturday at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, and it’s another Aprilia rider acting as the #72’s closest challenger. Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) improved late on to make it an RS-GP 1-2 in Practice at Phillip Island, with Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) rounding out the top three as fellow Ducati star Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), our latest winner, misses the Q2 cut.

HOW PRACTICE UNFOLDED

MotoGP Practice, much like FP1, started with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) pull back into pit lane, shaking his head. Something wasn’t clicking with the Italian’s number one bike, so a swap to the second Ducati was again on the agenda. And once again, Pecco was immediately looking more at home as he promoted himself into P5 with 15 minutes of the session gone.

Bezzecchi led from Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in the opening part of a dry but cold and windy Practice, before Di Giannantonio took over at the top with 37 minutes to go – the Italian setting a 1:27.483 to shuffle ahead of Bezzecchi.

Acosta’s small crash at Turn 4 put a brief halt to his session with just under 40 minutes to go, the #37 was back on track just over 10 minutes later, as the big changes began to unfold heading into the closing 15 minutes.

Home hero Jack Miller was a big mover on his Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP machine. The Australian fired his way up to P2, 0.023s behind Di Giannantonio, before Miller then went one better to top Practice with 14 minutes left on the clock. That didn’t last long though. Bezzecchi moved the goalposts with a 1:27.099, before the Italian then delivered a showstopper – a 1:26.580, a new all-time lap record by 0.666s. ‘Have that!’, said the #72.

El Diablo – also known as Fabio Quartararo – made it a Monster Energy Yamaha 2-3 behind Bezzecchi, with teammate Alex Rins sitting ahead of fourth fastest Fernandez. The latest movements meant Bagnaia found himself outside the top 10, while the #63’s rival for a P2 overall finish, Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), jumped up to P3 to split the factory Yamahas.

With two minutes to go, Pecco still sat outside the top 10. But he was on a personal best lap three-quarters of the way round. A 1:27.132 was good enough to send Pecco into P7, before that was P8 as Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Tech3), Maverick Viñales’ stand-in, made his way into the automatic Q2 places.

Lighting up the timing screens again shortly after was Bezzecchi. Surely another all-time lap record wasn’t inbound? Well, yes, it was. Bez landed a 1:26.492 to extend his mega advantage at the top to over four tenths, before Fernandez made it an Aprilia 1-2 to get within three tenths of the pacesetter – a top lap from the Trackhouse rider.

Attention then turned to Indonesian GP winner Aldeguer. Sat P11, could the rookie set a last-gasp personal best lap to knock Acosta out of the top 10? He came close, 0.005s off in fact, but it wasn’t enough. Our latest Grand Prix winner will need to come through Q1.

YOUR AUSTRALIAN GP TOP 10

Can anyone catch Bezzecchi in qualifying will be the question heading into Saturday, as Aprilia enjoy a fantastic day at the office at Phillip Island. Fernandez sails into Q2 with a very strong P2, with Di Giannantonio a comfortable P3. The Italian is the fastest Ducati on Friday, while Quartararo is the quickest Yamaha in P4.

Alex Marquez completed the top five, as Rins, Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) and the impressive Espargaro enjoy top eight results in Practice. Bagnaia slipped to P9 by the chequered flag, but it’s job done in terms of getting straight into Q2, with Acosta just about holding onto P10.

COMING UP: SATURDAY ON THE ISLAND

Q1 should be an enticing affair with the likes of Aldeguer, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Miller, Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol), 2023 winner Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) and more all fighting for a top two spot before the pole position shootout begins.

Moto2 : Moreira Breaks Record At Phillip Island

Diogo Moreira led Moto2 World Championship practice Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Italtrans Racing Team Kalex on Pirelli control tires, the Brazilian lapped the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) road course in 1:30.307, topping the field of 28 riders and breaking Aron Canet’s All-Time Lap Record of 1:30.816 from 2024.

Senna Agius was second-best with a time of 1:30.315 on his LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Kalex.

David Alonso did a third-fastest 1:30.535 on his CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team Kalex.

American Joe Roberts finished Friday afternoon’s practice session 20th with a best time of 1:31.460 on his OnlyFans American Racing Team Kalex.

Moreira in form to lead Moto2™ charge after Friday Practice. Getting down to business at Phillip Island, Moreira pipped home-hero Agius for Day 1 honours Down Under.

Diogo Moreira’s (Italtrans Racing Team) title hopes are more than real as the Brazilian topped the opening day of action in Moto2 at Phillip Island. A deficit of just nine points means it is very much game on and after two crashes for Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) on the first day, Moreira has the momentum into Saturday.

Championship contender Moreira was in fine form on his last run, with the Brazilian fresh from a deal to move into MotoGP in 2026. The #10 pushed hard right until the end of the session and was able to take top spot on his penultimate flying lap. Finishing his session with a very strong run, Agius blasted his way to the top before eventually finishing second to end his first day at home in fine fashion. David Alonso (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team) rounded out the top three, less than a quarter of a second away from Moreira in P1.

Jake Dixon (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) and Gonzalez were fourth and fifth but it wasn’t a dream day for ‘Manugas’. The Championship leader had a fast crash in FP1 at Turn 8 and suffered another tip-off at Turn 4 in the closing stages of Practice. This, combined with Moreira being on top, was not he envisaged his first day in Australia.

Indonesian Mario Aji (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) took P6 as he finds more form on the comeback from injury, with Aron Canet (Fantic Racing), Tony Arbolino (BLUCRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2), Darryn Binder (Italjet Gresini Moto2) and rookie Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completing the top ten.

There were crashes for Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team) at Turn 9, leaving him down in P21, whilst Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing Team) and Celestino Vietti (Beta Tools SpeedRS Team) took separate falls at Turn 6.

Moto3 : Almansa Sets New Lap Record At Phillip Island

David Almansa led Moto3 World Championship practice Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, in Australia. Almansa used his Pirelli-shod Leopard Racing Honda to lap the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) track in 1:34.726, which led the field of 26 riders and broke Stefano Nepa’s All-Time Lap Record of 1:35.370 from 2024.

His teammate, Adrian Fernandez was second-best with a time of 1:35.118.

Alvaro Carpe, piloting his Red Bull KTM Ajo, claimed the third and final spot on the front with a lap time of 1:35.288.

Almansa soars to Friday top spot in Australia. A new lap record is landed by the Leopard Racing rider as Fernandez and Carpe complete the top three. 

A 1:34.726 from David Almansa (Leopard Racing) handed the Spaniard a lap record-breaking top spot on Friday at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, as teammate Adrian Fernandez and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Alvaro Carpe rounded out the top three.

Angel Piqueras (FRINSA – MT Helmets – MSI) was P4 after improving in the closing stages, with P5 going the way of home crowd star Joel Kelso (LEVELUP – MTA). The Australian left it late to jump back into the top 10 after a strong start to Practice, with compatriot Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) also making it through despite a late problem with his machine – the Australian ended the session in P11.

Indonesian GP podium finisher Guido Pini (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) was P6, one place ahead of World Champion Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in P7. Elsewhere, Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) claimed P8 as the #28 aims to wrap up the Rookie of the Year accolade this weekend – that’s one to watch between him and Carpe.

Jack Miller topped MotoGP World Championship Free Practice One (FP1) Friday morning at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Michelin-shod Prima Pramac Yamaha YZR-M1, the home hero turned a lap of 1:28.281 around the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) track and led the 22-rider field.

Alex Marquez was second-best with a 1:28.317 on his BK8 Gresini Ducati Desmosedici GP24.

Pedro Acosta was third with a lap of 1:28.416 on his Red Bull KTM Factory RC16.

Miller thrills to top Phillip Island FP1. The Australian got his homecoming tour of to a belting start on ‘The Island’. 

Starting his home GP in style, Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) took FP1 honours at a blustery Phillip Island, giving the home fans exactly what they came for. A podium to his name from 2019 at this very venue, ‘Thriller’ lived up to his nickname with a late flying lap to lead the field into the all-important Practice session later in the afternoon.

Having been outside the top ten for most of the session, the #43 came good right at the end of the session, demoting Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP). The #73 had a moment with Miguel Oliveira (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) at the end of the session at Turn 1 but thankfully was able to stay upright. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) made it three manufacturers inside the top three, 0.135s from the top spot. Fresh from his maiden MotoGP win in Indonesia, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) was fourth, with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) fifth.

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) was top at various points in the session but finished sixth. It wasn’t the best of starts for Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), who came in at the end of his out-lap was clearly not happy. ‘Pecco’ got back out and set his first four flying laps but came back in, signalling his discomfort by shaking his head and imitating the feeling he has with the GP25. He went on to finish seventh, growing in confidence throughout the session, ahead of Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR), Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).

Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) took 12th but had a big mechanical issue down into Turn 1 in the closing stages, with plumes of smoke coming from the Honda. There was also a fast crash at Turn 1 for Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team). He was able to walk away and was soon back aboard, finishing 14th.

Jake Dixon was quickest during Moto2 World Championship Free Practice One (FP1) Friday morning at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Pirelli-shod ELF Marc VDS Racing Boscoscuro on the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) track, the Brit recorded a 1:31.346 to lead the field of 28 riders.

David Alonso was the best of the rest with a 1:31.412 on his CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Kalex.

Diogo Moreira was third-fastest with a 1:31.509 on his Italtrans Racing Kalex.

American Joe Roberts finished the opening session in 12th with a 1:32.567 on his Onlyfans American Racing Team Kalex.

Nicolò Bulega led FIM Superbike World Championship Free Practice Two (FP2) Friday afternoon at Jerez, in Spain. Riding his Aruba.It Racing – Ducati Panigale V4R on spec Pirelli tires, the Italian rider covered the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) track in 1:38.668 to lead the field of 25 riders.

Sam Lowes was second-best with a 1:38.866 on his ELF Marc VDS Ducati Panigale V4R.

Andrea Iannone was third with a 1:39.074 on his Team Pata Go Eleven Ducati Panigale V4R.

2024 WorldSuperbike Champion, Toprak Razgatlioglu got fourth on his ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team M1000RR. 

Americans Garrett Gerloff was 18th with a time of 1:40.117 on his Kawasaki ZX-10RR and Bobby Fong was 24th on his 1:41.378 on his Attack Performance Yamaha YZF R1.

LESS THAN A TENTH IN IT: Bulega tops Friday running despite FP2 tech issues, Razgatlioglu P2. Bulega pipped his title rival to top spot on Friday at Jerez, but hit trouble in the second practice session.

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) topped the timesheets on Friday at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia as the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s final round of the year kicked off in Spain. Bulega didn’t have Friday all his own way after hitting technical trouble in Free Practice 2 as he claimed top spot ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) at the Pirelli Spanish Round.

P1 DESPITE TECH PROBLEMS: A mixed day for Bulega

Bulega was the fastest rider on Friday thanks to his FP1 time of 1’35.587s, but his day was interrupted by technical problems that he suffered in FP2. He was told about them by Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) and left the track, eventually getting his bike back to the pits for repairs to fix a water leak. He returned to the track with around 18 minutes remaining in the 45-minute session. He improved his time in the final six minutes of FP2 to a 1’38.698s, and then a 1’38.668s, although not faster than his FP1 time. Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) was the second-fastest Ducati with a 1’38.866s he set in FP2, giving him third overall, while Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) was the third fastest rider on the Panigale V4R thanks to a 1’39.028s from FP1. In the second session, ‘The Maniac’ crashed at Turn 11, although was able to re-join the session in the final 15 minutes to take fifth overall.

Rookies Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Ryan Vickers (Motocorsa Racing) showed good speed on Friday to claim seventh and eighth respectively, with Vickers leaving it late to claim fifth in FP2 with a 1’39.339s. Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was left languishing out of the top ten as he finished in 12th place, with Tarran Mackenzie (MGM BONOVO Action) in 17th. Wildcard Lukas Tulovic (Team Triple M Ducati Frankfurt) was 20th; he had a crash in FP1, as did Nicholas Spinelli (Barni Spark Racing Team) who finished in 23rd.

RAZGATLIOGLU ON THE BACK FOOT? P2 overall, fourth in FP2…

Razgatlioglu was the second-fastest rider in the combined classification although he struggled in FP2, finishing fourth in the afternoon session as he looks to wrap up his third title before he departs for MotoGP; he did not complete his customary race pace simulation in the afternoon session, instead completing three shorter stints. His best time was a 1’39.139s in FP2, and 1’38.675s overall. Teammate Michael van der Mark rounded out the top ten with a 1’39.561s that he set in Free Practice 2.

VIERGE FOURTH OVERALL: A good start to Friday for the #97

Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) finished inside the top three in FP1 after a brilliant start to his final weekend in Honda red, as he led the Japanese manufacturer’s charge in Spain, finishing fourth on the combined timesheets with a 1’39.009s that he set in the opening session. Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) did improve his lap time in FP2 by a tenth to set a 1’39.715s, which gave him 15th on Friday. Tito Rabat (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) was 21st while Zaqhwan Zaidi (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) rounded out the 25-strong field.

ALEX LOWES SIXTH FOR BIMOTA: #22 comfortably in the top ten

Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) is aiming to end Bimota’s first season back in WorldSBK on a high and finished sixth on Friday after setting a 1’39.205s, with the #22’s best lap time coming in FP1. Teammate Axel Bassani had been running in the top ten but finished down in 13th place.

LOCATELLI NINTH, REA 11TH: More to come from Yamaha?

Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) was the fastest of the Yamaha riders on the opening day of the Jerez action in ninth after setting a 1’39.514s in FP2. Teammate Jonathan Rea completed his final Friday as a full-time WorldSBK rider in 11th. Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was three places behind the six-time World Champion while Alessandro Delbianco, standing in for Dominique Aegerter (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team), was 18th. Bahattin Sofuoglu (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) was 19th while teammate Michael Rinaldi was 22nd; the Italian had a crash at Turn 11 and was taken to the medical centre for a check-up where he was declared fit. Wildcard Bobby Fong (Attack Performance Yamaha Racing) was 24th.

GERLOFF AIMING FOR MORE: 16th on Friday

Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) finished the day in 16th place as the sole Kawasaki rider on the grid, setting a 1’39.737s which he set in FP1, with the Texan unable to improve his time in the afternoon session.

Maria Herrera topped FIM World Women’s Circuit Racing Superpole qualifying Friday afternoon at Jerez, in Spain. Riding her Klint Forward Racing Team Yamaha YZF-R7 on Pirelli control tires, Herrera lapped the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) course in 1:51.572 to top the field of 25 riders and earn pole position.

Beatriz Neila was the best of the rest with a 1:51.880 on her Ampito Crescent Yamaha YZF-R7 , and Paola Ramos earned the third and final spot on the front row with a lap time of 1:51.947 on her YVS Sabadell Yamaha YZF-R7.

Americans Mallory Dobbs got 9th on her Diva Racing Yamaha YZF-R7 with a time of 1:53.184 and Sonya Lloyd finished 17th on her Team Trasimeno Yamaha YZF-R7 with a lap time of 1:55.439.

TITLE FIGHT DECIDER SET UP: Herrera claims Jerez pole ahead of Neila, wildcard Ramos stuns with P3. There were surprises in store during the Tissot Superpole session at Jerez as Herrera beat Neila to pole and wildcard Ramos claimed a debut front row start.

The only two riders remaining in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship title fight will start Race 1 at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia. Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) claimed the final pole position of 2025 by more than three tenths ahead of title rival Beatriz Neila (Ampito Crescent Yamaha) as the #6 took her sixth WorldWCR pole position at the Pirelli Spanish Round.

BATTLING FOR POLE: Herrera beats Neila to P1, a wildcard surprises

Herrera started the session by being the first rider to lap into the 1’52s and she kept improving her grip on provisional pole, improving to a 1’51.572s to move over a second clear of Neila who was running in second, although the #36 improved her time to a 1’52.349s; 0.777s down on Herrera. However, Neila improved further again to see a 1’51.880s, slashing the gap to Herrera in half. Despite Neila following Herrera on the final run, neither were able to improve as Herrera claimed her third pole of the 2025 season, with Neila in second. Wildcard Paolo Ramos (YVS Sabadell) impressed as she claimed P3 on her WorldWCR debut, only 0.375s away from Herrera.

SECOND ROW STARTING POSITION: Ponziani takes P4 ahead of Relph

Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team) left it late to claim a second-row start with fourth after lapping with a 1’52.246s, ahead of Australia’s Talya Relph (Full Throttle Racing) in fifth. The Australian lapped 0.977s down on Herrera’s pole time, but she had about a tenth in hand over sixth-placed Lucie Boudesseul (GMT94-YAMAHA).

INSIDE THE TOP TEN: Jones climbs up to P7

Chloe Jones (GR Motosport) spent her final laps behind Herrera and Neila to improve her time, eventually finishing seventh in the 25-minute session. Pakita Ruiz (PR46+1 Racing Team) claimed eighth ahead of the USA’s Mallory Dobbs (Diva Racing), who set a 1’53.184s to round out the third row. Natalia Rivera (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team) completed the top ten.

Lucas Mahias was quickest during FIM Supersport World Championship Free Practice Friday morning at Jerez, in Spain. Riding his GMT94-Yamaha YZF R9 on Pirelli control tires, the Frenchman covered the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) road course in 1:42.242, topping the field of 34 riders.

Former MotoAmerica Supersport regular Valentin Debise was the best of the rest with a 1:42.278 on his Renzi Corse Ducati Panigale V2.

Can Oncu was third with a lap time of 1:42.702 on his BluCru Evan Bros Yamaha YZF R9. 

2025 World Supersport champion, Stefano Manzi finished the session 7th on his Pata Ten Kate Yamaha YZF R9 with a lap time of 1:42.953.

AHRMA: Crash Photos From The Pro Challenge Race At Barber

Moto2 World Championship and AMA Pro Road Racing competitor Robertino Pietri crashed out of the AHRMA Pro Challenge race at Barber while racing a Petronas Kalex Moto2 machine owned by NOLA Riding Academy’s Clint Austin. Pietri’s sliding machine hit Turner Koletich and both went down in Charlotte’s Web. Austin was one turn behind Pietri when the crash happened. Both riders walked away.

Bulega pips Razgatlioglu by 0.088s ahead in FP1 ahead of WorldSBK’s title decider at Jerez. The top two in the Championship finished 1-2 in FP1, while there were three manufacturers in the top three.

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) set the pace in Free Practice 1 for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s visit to the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia. The Italian star was less than a tenth quicker than Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) at the Pirelli Spanish Round as the final weekend of the season kicked off under sunny skies in Spain.

Bulega was quickest out of the blocks as he immediately went fastest in FP1 with a 1’38.587s as he looks to overturn a 39-point deficit over the course of the weekend to pull off a stunning comeback and snatch the title from Toprak Razgatlioglu’s (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) grasp. ‘El Turco’ was second in the 45-minute session as he lapped 0.088s slower than ‘Bulegas’. Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) put three manufacturers in the top three as he set a 1’39.009s.

Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) finished fourth as he aims to end his time with GoEleven Ducati with a rostrum finish; he set a 1’39.028s. Fifth and sixth belonged to the Lowes brothers, with Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) ahead of Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team). The #14 set a 1’39.048s, while Alex was around a tenth and a half slower in P6.

Rookie Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) finished the session in seventh with Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) ending his final FP1 session in eighth ahead of former title rival Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). Rea set a 1’39.576s as he claimed P8 while Bautista was more than a second back from Bulega’s pacesetting time. Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) rounded out the top ten.

Nicholas Spinelli’s (Barni Spark Racing Team) return to WorldSBK got off to a bad start when he crashed at Turn 1 in FP1, although the #24 was okay. He finished the session in 23rd place with a 1’41.556s. Wildcard Lukas Tulovic (Team Triple M Ducati Frankfurt) also crashed at Turn 1 in the final 10 minutes of the session. He finished in 20th.

Marco Bezzecchi led MotoGP World Championship practice Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Aprilia Racing RS-GP25 on spec Michelin tires, the Italian turned a lap time of 1:26.492. Not only was that good enough to lead the 22-rider field, it was also good enough to eclipse Jorge Martin’s 2023 All-Time Lap Record of 1:27.246.

Raul Fernandez was the best of the rest with a 1:26.783 on his Trackhouse Aprilia RS-GP25.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was third at 1:26.912 on his Pertamina Enduro VR46 Ducati Desmosedici GP25.

Fabio Quartararo finished the session fourth with a 1:26.926 on his Monster Energy Yamaha YZR-M1.

Alex Marquez got fifth on his BK8 Gresini Ducati Desmosedici GP24.

Blistering Bezzecchi sets new lap record to clinch Day 1 honours Down Under. Aprilia are handed a 1-2 on Friday thanks to the Italian and Fernandez’s efforts in Practice, as Aldeguer misses the automatic Q2 cut at Phillip Island.

Talk about smashing the previous lap record! Marco Bezzecchi’s (Aprilia Racing) unbelievably rapid 1:26.492 sees the Italian comfortably lead the MotoGP pack heading into Saturday at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, and it’s another Aprilia rider acting as the #72’s closest challenger. Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) improved late on to make it an RS-GP 1-2 in Practice at Phillip Island, with Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) rounding out the top three as fellow Ducati star Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), our latest winner, misses the Q2 cut.

HOW PRACTICE UNFOLDED

MotoGP Practice, much like FP1, started with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) pull back into pit lane, shaking his head. Something wasn’t clicking with the Italian’s number one bike, so a swap to the second Ducati was again on the agenda. And once again, Pecco was immediately looking more at home as he promoted himself into P5 with 15 minutes of the session gone.

Bezzecchi led from Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in the opening part of a dry but cold and windy Practice, before Di Giannantonio took over at the top with 37 minutes to go – the Italian setting a 1:27.483 to shuffle ahead of Bezzecchi.

Acosta’s small crash at Turn 4 put a brief halt to his session with just under 40 minutes to go, the #37 was back on track just over 10 minutes later, as the big changes began to unfold heading into the closing 15 minutes.

Home hero Jack Miller was a big mover on his Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP machine. The Australian fired his way up to P2, 0.023s behind Di Giannantonio, before Miller then went one better to top Practice with 14 minutes left on the clock. That didn’t last long though. Bezzecchi moved the goalposts with a 1:27.099, before the Italian then delivered a showstopper – a 1:26.580, a new all-time lap record by 0.666s. ‘Have that!’, said the #72.

El Diablo – also known as Fabio Quartararo – made it a Monster Energy Yamaha 2-3 behind Bezzecchi, with teammate Alex Rins sitting ahead of fourth fastest Fernandez. The latest movements meant Bagnaia found himself outside the top 10, while the #63’s rival for a P2 overall finish, Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), jumped up to P3 to split the factory Yamahas.

With two minutes to go, Pecco still sat outside the top 10. But he was on a personal best lap three-quarters of the way round. A 1:27.132 was good enough to send Pecco into P7, before that was P8 as Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Tech3), Maverick Viñales’ stand-in, made his way into the automatic Q2 places.

Lighting up the timing screens again shortly after was Bezzecchi. Surely another all-time lap record wasn’t inbound? Well, yes, it was. Bez landed a 1:26.492 to extend his mega advantage at the top to over four tenths, before Fernandez made it an Aprilia 1-2 to get within three tenths of the pacesetter – a top lap from the Trackhouse rider.

Attention then turned to Indonesian GP winner Aldeguer. Sat P11, could the rookie set a last-gasp personal best lap to knock Acosta out of the top 10? He came close, 0.005s off in fact, but it wasn’t enough. Our latest Grand Prix winner will need to come through Q1.

YOUR AUSTRALIAN GP TOP 10

Can anyone catch Bezzecchi in qualifying will be the question heading into Saturday, as Aprilia enjoy a fantastic day at the office at Phillip Island. Fernandez sails into Q2 with a very strong P2, with Di Giannantonio a comfortable P3. The Italian is the fastest Ducati on Friday, while Quartararo is the quickest Yamaha in P4.

Alex Marquez completed the top five, as Rins, Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) and the impressive Espargaro enjoy top eight results in Practice. Bagnaia slipped to P9 by the chequered flag, but it’s job done in terms of getting straight into Q2, with Acosta just about holding onto P10.

COMING UP: SATURDAY ON THE ISLAND

Q1 should be an enticing affair with the likes of Aldeguer, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Miller, Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol), 2023 winner Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) and more all fighting for a top two spot before the pole position shootout begins.

Moto2 : Moreira Breaks Record At Phillip Island

Diogo Moreira led Moto2 World Championship practice Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Italtrans Racing Team Kalex on Pirelli control tires, the Brazilian lapped the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) road course in 1:30.307, topping the field of 28 riders and breaking Aron Canet’s All-Time Lap Record of 1:30.816 from 2024.

Senna Agius was second-best with a time of 1:30.315 on his LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Kalex.

David Alonso did a third-fastest 1:30.535 on his CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team Kalex.

American Joe Roberts finished Friday afternoon’s practice session 20th with a best time of 1:31.460 on his OnlyFans American Racing Team Kalex.

Moreira in form to lead Moto2™ charge after Friday Practice. Getting down to business at Phillip Island, Moreira pipped home-hero Agius for Day 1 honours Down Under.

Diogo Moreira’s (Italtrans Racing Team) title hopes are more than real as the Brazilian topped the opening day of action in Moto2 at Phillip Island. A deficit of just nine points means it is very much game on and after two crashes for Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) on the first day, Moreira has the momentum into Saturday.

Championship contender Moreira was in fine form on his last run, with the Brazilian fresh from a deal to move into MotoGP in 2026. The #10 pushed hard right until the end of the session and was able to take top spot on his penultimate flying lap. Finishing his session with a very strong run, Agius blasted his way to the top before eventually finishing second to end his first day at home in fine fashion. David Alonso (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team) rounded out the top three, less than a quarter of a second away from Moreira in P1.

Jake Dixon (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) and Gonzalez were fourth and fifth but it wasn’t a dream day for ‘Manugas’. The Championship leader had a fast crash in FP1 at Turn 8 and suffered another tip-off at Turn 4 in the closing stages of Practice. This, combined with Moreira being on top, was not he envisaged his first day in Australia.

Indonesian Mario Aji (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) took P6 as he finds more form on the comeback from injury, with Aron Canet (Fantic Racing), Tony Arbolino (BLUCRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2), Darryn Binder (Italjet Gresini Moto2) and rookie Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completing the top ten.

There were crashes for Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team) at Turn 9, leaving him down in P21, whilst Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing Team) and Celestino Vietti (Beta Tools SpeedRS Team) took separate falls at Turn 6.

Moto3 : Almansa Sets New Lap Record At Phillip Island

David Almansa led Moto3 World Championship practice Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, in Australia. Almansa used his Pirelli-shod Leopard Racing Honda to lap the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) track in 1:34.726, which led the field of 26 riders and broke Stefano Nepa’s All-Time Lap Record of 1:35.370 from 2024.

His teammate, Adrian Fernandez was second-best with a time of 1:35.118.

Alvaro Carpe, piloting his Red Bull KTM Ajo, claimed the third and final spot on the front with a lap time of 1:35.288.

Almansa soars to Friday top spot in Australia. A new lap record is landed by the Leopard Racing rider as Fernandez and Carpe complete the top three. 

A 1:34.726 from David Almansa (Leopard Racing) handed the Spaniard a lap record-breaking top spot on Friday at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, as teammate Adrian Fernandez and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Alvaro Carpe rounded out the top three.

Angel Piqueras (FRINSA – MT Helmets – MSI) was P4 after improving in the closing stages, with P5 going the way of home crowd star Joel Kelso (LEVELUP – MTA). The Australian left it late to jump back into the top 10 after a strong start to Practice, with compatriot Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) also making it through despite a late problem with his machine – the Australian ended the session in P11.

Indonesian GP podium finisher Guido Pini (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) was P6, one place ahead of World Champion Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in P7. Elsewhere, Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) claimed P8 as the #28 aims to wrap up the Rookie of the Year accolade this weekend – that’s one to watch between him and Carpe.

MotoGP : Miller Heads Opening Practice At Phillip Island

Jack Miller topped MotoGP World Championship Free Practice One (FP1) Friday morning at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Michelin-shod Prima Pramac Yamaha YZR-M1, the home hero turned a lap of 1:28.281 around the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) track and led the 22-rider field.

Alex Marquez was second-best with a 1:28.317 on his BK8 Gresini Ducati Desmosedici GP24.

Pedro Acosta was third with a lap of 1:28.416 on his Red Bull KTM Factory RC16.

Miller thrills to top Phillip Island FP1. The Australian got his homecoming tour of to a belting start on ‘The Island’. 

Starting his home GP in style, Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) took FP1 honours at a blustery Phillip Island, giving the home fans exactly what they came for. A podium to his name from 2019 at this very venue, ‘Thriller’ lived up to his nickname with a late flying lap to lead the field into the all-important Practice session later in the afternoon.

Having been outside the top ten for most of the session, the #43 came good right at the end of the session, demoting Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP). The #73 had a moment with Miguel Oliveira (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) at the end of the session at Turn 1 but thankfully was able to stay upright. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) made it three manufacturers inside the top three, 0.135s from the top spot. Fresh from his maiden MotoGP win in Indonesia, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) was fourth, with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) fifth.

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) was top at various points in the session but finished sixth. It wasn’t the best of starts for Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), who came in at the end of his out-lap was clearly not happy. ‘Pecco’ got back out and set his first four flying laps but came back in, signalling his discomfort by shaking his head and imitating the feeling he has with the GP25. He went on to finish seventh, growing in confidence throughout the session, ahead of Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR), Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).

Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) took 12th but had a big mechanical issue down into Turn 1 in the closing stages, with plumes of smoke coming from the Honda. There was also a fast crash at Turn 1 for Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team). He was able to walk away and was soon back aboard, finishing 14th.

Jake Dixon was quickest during Moto2 World Championship Free Practice One (FP1) Friday morning at Phillip Island, in Australia. Riding his Pirelli-shod ELF Marc VDS Racing Boscoscuro on the 2.76-mile (4.45 km) track, the Brit recorded a 1:31.346 to lead the field of 28 riders.

David Alonso was the best of the rest with a 1:31.412 on his CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Kalex.

Diogo Moreira was third-fastest with a 1:31.509 on his Italtrans Racing Kalex.

American Joe Roberts finished the opening session in 12th with a 1:32.567 on his Onlyfans American Racing Team Kalex.
