Chuckwalla Valley Raceway Sponsoring Another Pro Rider
Every winter, the Landers Racing crew heads out to the CVMA (Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association) races at Chuckwalla to develop new race bikes, stay sharp, and prepare for the upcoming MotoAmerica races. This past winter, the Landers Racing riders, Ben Gloddy and Rocco Landers, were able to shake their MotoAmerica race bikes down and begin to prepare for the season.
“The Landers Racing Team has always been one of my favorite teams in the paddock, and we love seeing them grow and get faster every year. Rocco is such a great kid, and the whole Landers family is such a big part of our sport; we are honored to have the opportunity to be a part of their 2021 season”, said Micky Grana, President of Chuckwalla Raceway.
Stoney Landers had this to say, “We always stay busy in the off-season with training and racing. It is so convenient and valuable to have a legitimate race series that operates during the winter in sunny California. The place is a proving ground for riders such as Corey Alexander, Michael Gilbert, Aussie Dave, the Calishine racing crew, and many others that race in MotoAmerica. The ownership at Chuckwalla has really stepped up in regards to how serious they are about expanding this series by committing to a very healthy purse payout schedule to give back to all the racers that have supported CVMA over the years.”
Rocco Landers had this to say, “Micky, Kevin, Brooke, Aimee, and Emily are the best! It is like a big family out at Chuckwalla. Everyone from the crew in registration to the corner workers, race director, and the racers are all are great to be around. We usually race on Saturday and go bang bars with my buddies Saturday night over at the TT Flat Track! I now can’t wait to go rip at CVMA this winter on my Yamaha R6!”

More, from a press release issued by American Flat Track:
Robinson Holds Off Bauman for OKC Mile I Victory
Wiles dominates on the Honda; Texter commands AFT Production Twins lead.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (June 18, 2021) – Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750) became the first rider to earn a second Mission SuperTwins presented by S&S Cycle victory this Progressive American Flat Track season with a clutch performance in Friday evening’s Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City OKC Mile I presented by KICKER at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Robinson controlled the lead and held a gap to second from the first lap onward. However, the nerves required to pull off the victory were considerably greater than that fact might suggest; Robinson was forced to overcome injury, an extremely physical racetrack, and a fast-closing Briar Bauman (No. 1 Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance FTR750) to emerge victorious in the end.
At one point late in the race, Robinson saw his nearly two-second advantage slashed to around a half-second. Despite that pressure, Robinson regrouped and ultimately stretched it back out to 1.744-seconds by the time he sailed past the checkered flag. While Robinson certainly did his part by remaining calm, precise, and rapid, Bauman effectively conceded the race in the end after nearly being caught out by the extremely fast yet risky lines he had previously exploited to claw back into contention.
Robinson, meanwhile, continued to make the case that he belongs right alongside reigning Grand National Champion Bauman and multi-time series king Jared Mees (No. 9 Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance FTR750) when it comes to the current premier-class pecking order. Besides owning more wins than any other rider this season, Robinson also boasts his Chicago Half-Mile fall-to-fourth-place ride that was as impressive as any win, along with three out of five victories in this season’s $5000 Mission Challenge shootouts.
After the race, Robinson said, “This might be the most tiring track we go to all year. This was brutal, and with the bummer at Joliet and sustaining a knee injury there, I’ve been on the couch for three weeks. Fitness is huge here, so big thanks to my trainer, Dick Tibbits; he helps me out a lot with everything I’ve been going through with the injury and just trying to be as ready as we can. And a huge thank you to Mission Foods, Roof Systems, HCRR, and my crew chief Ben Evans; they had this thing dialed in from the time we unloaded. I could not be happier to be a part of this program.”
While Mees saw his three-race win streak at the OKC Mile snapped, he did keep alive his perfect podium record at the venue. A poor start pretty much eliminated any chance at victory from the very beginning, but he quickly made up multiple positions to establish himself a clear third.
Jarod Vanderkooi (No. 20 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750) added a fourth-place finish to his back-to-back runner-up results, while Brandon Price (No. 92 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750) overcame Kolby Carlile (No. 36 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT) in their tilt for fifth. ‘Mile Master’ Bryan Smith (No. 4 Crosley/Howerton Motorsports Indian FTR750) had earlier been a part of that fight but was forced to pull out at mid-distance.
Further back, Bronson Bauman (No. 37 Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City FTR750), Robert Pearson (No. 27 Rackley Racing/John Franklin Indian FTR750), JD Beach (No. 95 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT) and Davis Fisher (No. 67 BMC Racing/Dick Wall 60 Indian FTR750) rounded out the top ten.
AFT Singles
After getting off to a bit of a quiet start in 2021, Henry Wiles (No. 17 American Honda/Progressive Insurance CRF450R) made plenty of noise on Friday night with a blowout victory in the evening’s AFT Singles Main Event.
Wiles was in a class of his own from the start, ripping out to immediate advantage and never looking back en route to a 3.157-second margin of victory.
While Wiles erased all drama for the win before any could settle in, there was still plenty of action to be found in a spirited fight for second. Estenson teammates Dallas Daniels (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) and Mikey Rush (No. 15 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) diced it up with one another early before being joined in the fray by the always entertaining Morgen Mischler (No. 13 Mission Roof Systems KTM 450 SX-F).
Contrasting lines led to a series of tight passes and unpredictable action before Daniels ultimately shook free over the race’s final two laps.
Mischler split Daniels and Rush up in the results to finish third, bringing Rush’s perfect season podium record to an end while allowing Daniels just a bit of space at the top of the championship order.
One of Wiles’ teammates, Trevor Brunner (No. 21 American Honda/Progressive Insurance CRF450R), missed the Main Event after going down in an on-track incident while leading his Semi. The other, Cole Zabala (No. 51 American Honda/Progressive Insurance CRF450R), finished in fifth, winning out in a multi-rider fight for the position with Max Whale (No. 18 Red Bull KTM Factory Racing 450 SX-FFE) and Brandon Kitchen (No. 105 Husqvarna Motorcycles/Vance & Hines Husqvarna FC450).
Race winner Wiles said, “Right from the first practice I knew we had some real good pace. I knew my biggest competition throughout the day was going to be my teammate (Brunner), but unfortunately he got caught up coming out of a corner and had a pretty nasty crash. I hope Trevor is doing well, and hopefully he can get back out here tomorrow and we can race it up at the front.
“I’m really just stoked. It’s no secret we’ve been struggling. We thought we’d come out swinging from Round 1, and it’s just been a struggle. I’ve got to thank my mechanic and sponsors and all the people that help out this team. They’ve really been busting their butts, and I couldn’t be happier with the result tonight.”
AFT Production Twins presented by Vance & Hines
Cory Texter (No. 65 G&G Racing/Yamaha Racing Yamaha MT-07) went wire-to-wire to secure his third victory of the still-young AFT Production Twins presented by Vance & Hines season.
The 2019 class champ took the critically important holeshot and translated it into an unchallenged victory. While the roost of the Remington Park cushion Mile left his competitors covered in dirt and their number plates virtually unreadable, Texter shone just as bright in red, white, and blue at the checkered flag as he was on the starting line.
Texter said, “It’s amazing. My plan was to go out and do half the race really hard, set a good pace, and then chill the last few laps and save energy for tomorrow. This is for my dad — it’s been eleven years and I miss him. It’s Father’s Day weekend so this is a tough one for me. So this is for my dad, Randy, and my little boy, Cruise — he makes Father’s Day a lot better than it used to be.”
Ryan Varnes (No. 68 RVR/RoyBuilt Don’s Kawasaki Ninja 650) suffered a mechanical DNF moments after moving into second while looking like the only rider with any chance of running down Texter.
That left Cameron Smith (No. 44 Mike Butler Racing/Cornerstone Masonry Group Honda CRF450R), Jeremiah Duffy (No. 42 Sammy O Racing/Geiger Construction Kawasaki Ninja 650), and Dan Bromley (No. 62 Memphis Shades/Vinson Construction Yamaha MT-07) to sort of the remainder of the podium before Texter. Raising the stakes significantly was the fact that both Smith and Duffy were hoping to come away with their maiden Progressive AFT podiums.
That honor ultimately went to Smith, who raced from Row 2 to second place. Bromley came home just behind in third to complete an all-Pennsylvanian, all-Yamaha podium.
Duffy survived a couple major moments and a near-miss with Bromley to finish fourth, while 2019 AFT Singles champ Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 D&D Cycles/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XG750R) rounded out the top five.
A disappointed Chad Cose (No. 49 Voodoo Ranger/Roof Systems Harley-Davidson XG750R) — who entered the weekend second in the points on the strength of a win and two runner-ups — was forced to watch from the fences after suffering a mechanical issue with his machine earlier in the evening. The Californian expects to be back in action on Saturday night.

Moto2: Gardner Under Race Lap Record In FP2 In Germany
More, from a press release issued by Dorna:
Gardner makes it a clean sweep in Germany
The Championship leader tops both sessions on Friday at the Sachsenring, with a familiar sight on his tail: his teammate
Remy Gardner (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was fastest in FP1 and FP2 on Day 1 of the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, ending the day an impressive three tenths clear in the combined times. It was once again a Red Bull KTM Ajo 1-2, however, with rookie Raul Fernandez the man on the chase. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) completed the top three, pipping Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) to it by a single thousandth.
FP1
Gardner started the day as he meant to go on, the Australian fastest from ‘Diggia’ by a tenth as action began at the Sachsenring. Xavi Vierge (Petronas Sprinta Racing) was third quickest, with Raul Fernandez down in fourth by just 0.027. It was a small and apt 0.037 back to the man in fifth too: Augusto Fernandez, with the number 37 0.288 off Gardner.
Lowes, meanwhile, started Friday in seventh, just behind an impressive session from Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Italtrans Racing Team) in sixth.
Cameron Beaubier (American Racing), home hero Marcel Schrötter (Liqui Moly Intact GP), his rookie teammate Tony Arbolino, Aron Canet (Aspar Team Moto2) and Hafizh Syahrin (NTS RW Racing GP) all crashed in the morning, all riders ok.
FP2
The afternoon saw Gardner stretch his advantage and Raul Fernandez take over as his closest challenger, with the Aussie seemingly retaining the upper hand so far in Germany. Diggia was shuffled down to third, that aforementioned single thousandth down on Lowes, with Vierge in fifth – six tenths off the top but just 0.033 ahead of Augusto Fernandez.
Lowes was one crasher in the afternoon, rider ok. Injury replacement and Moto2™ European Championship five-in-a-row winner Fermin Aldeguer (+Ego Speed Up) also crashed, rider ok, as did and were Stefano Manzi (Flexbox HP 40) and Ai Ogura (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia).
Combined timesheets
The potential Q2 graduates all went faster in the afternoon, so it’s Gardner, Raul Fernandez, Diggia, Lowes, Vierge and Augusto Fernandez locking out the top six.
Simone Corsi (MV Agusta Forward Racing) put in an impressive Day 1 to finish up seventh overall, ahead of Schrötter, Arbolino and Tom Lüthi (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team) rounding out the top ten.
As it stands, Marcos Ramirez (American Racing), Albert Arenas (Aspar Team Moto2), Jorge Navarro (+Ego Speed Up) and Marco Bezzecchi (Sky Racing Team VR46) stand to move through to Q2, with Bezzechi – who is third in the standings – having a tougher day at the office in Germany.
That was also true for the likes of of Joe Roberts (Italtrans Racing Team) down in P16.
Bucking the FIM CEV Repsol trend so far in 2021, Alonso Lopez (Flexbox HP 40) pipped Moto2™ ECh teammate Aldeguer on Friday. Lopez ended the day in P21 at the Sachsenring, just 0.006 behind Ogura, with Aldeguer down in P27 at the new venue.
How will the pack shuffle in FP3? Find out from 10:55 (GMT +2).

I can’t think of a better way to see the things that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer than from the seat of a motorcycle. This is going to be a memorable day for everyone who takes part in the ride and I’m looking forward to sitting down and chatting with the participants when they arrive back at the track. This will be a lot of fun.”

Australian Superbike: Maxwell Fastest In Practice At Hidden Valley
Ducati Prevails in Hidden Valley ASBK Practice
Ducati riders have locked up the top three positions in Alpinestars Superbike practice for round four of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance ASBK, presented by Motul, at Hidden Valley today, Boost Mobile with K-Tech rider Wayne Maxwell fractionally faster than DesmoSport Ducati team-mates Oli Bayliss and Mike Jones.
Maxwell topped the opening session of the day by a relatively comfortable 0.3s margin, but Bayliss recorded some lightning-fast laps to sit atop the timesheets for much of the second session, before Maxwell responded in the dying stages to set the day’s fastest time by just 0.02s.
“We worked through our plan today, and it was satisfying to end the day on top, but it hasn’t been without its challenges,” Maxwell said.
“Our head engineer, Adrian, is stuck in Melbourne at the moment, so he’s been working remotely. Without the personal interaction, it makes it harder, but a full credit to the Boost Mobile with K-Tech crew – they’re doing their best in difficult circumstances and as usual, they’ve given me a very good bike.
“I did my fastest time on a used tyre, so I’m confident heading into qualifying tomorrow.”
Bayliss, who is making his first appearance at Hidden Valley on a Superbike, was pleased with how quickly he came to grips with the track, despite a clutch problem late in the second session.
“My only previous experience at Hidden Valley was on a Supersport 300 bike, so I knew I had to train as hard as I could to prepare for a weekend of Superbike racing in hot conditions,” Bayliss said.
“We improved in both sessions today and I was really happy with my times before the clutch let go, so we’re in good shape for tomorrow.”
Third-placed Jones was also satisfied with the day’s proceedings.
“I’m feeling good on the bike and everything is going to plan so far,” Jones said.
“Oli and I are both close in times, which is good for the DesmoSport Ducati team – we’re able to give them good feedback and drive the whole team forward.”
Troy Herfoss (Penrite Honda) ended the day fourth overall ahead of Glenn Allerton, who bounced back from a stuck rear brake in the first session to record a competitive time aboard his brand-new Next Gen Motorsports BMW M1000 RR.
Daniel Falzon was the best of the Yamahas in sixth ahead of Bryan Staring, Cru Halliday, Jed Metcher and Lachlan Epis.
Qualifying for the ASBK commences at 10:20am tomorrow.

MotoGP: Oliveira Leads FP2 At Sachsenring (Updated)
More, from a press release issued by Dorna:
Oliveira ousts Quartararo on Day 1 at the Sachsenring
The Catalan GP winner remains the man to beat in Germany as he finishes Friday first to deny Yamaha

Friday, 18 June 2021
New week, same speed: Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) remains the fastest man in MotoGP™ only a few days after his Catalan GP win, with the Portuguese rider topping the timesheets on Day 1 of the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. Around half a second off the outright lap record, Oliveira escaped Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) by a couple of tenths to take to the top, with Maverick Viñales making it two Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP machines in the top three on Friday as he ended FP2 within a tenth of his teammate.
FP1
The day started with a very familiar name at the top of the Sachsenring timesheets: Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team). The Spaniard is undefeated at the venue in the premier class plus a few years before that, and he was quick out the blocks before also stringing together a longer run of laps. Second was Quartararo, who also took a fast tumble – rider ok – at Turn 12 before moving back to within 0.168 off Marquez. Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) started the event a tenth further back in third, ahead of another Honda: Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda Team). The number 44 also crashed at Turn 2, rider ok. Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) completed the top five, less than half a tenth in further arrears.
The other crasher in FP1 was the first: Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing). The Spaniard went down at Turn 12, rider ok.

FP2
In the afternoon, everyone improved and Miguel Oliveira took over at the top. The Catalan GP winner went more than 1.6 seconds quicker than his morning best, and just under a second quicker than Marc Marquez’ FP1 fastest lap, to head the timesheets in the session. He had two tenths in hand over Quartararo, who was second once again, with Viñales moving up from tenth in FP1 to complete the top three.

Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) stole some headlines in fourth, the Spaniard impressing despite his wrist injury sustained ahead of Barcelona, ending the day top Suzuki and just under four tenths off the top. Pol Espargaro, Nakagami and Aleix Espargaro also impressed again, taking fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Marc Marquez, meanwhile, was shuffled down to outside the top ten.
Luca Marini (Sky VR46 Avintia) crashed first at Turn 13 and then at Turn 7, rider ok, and Pol Espargaro had his second crash of the day at Turn 4. Valentino Rossi (Petronas Yamaha SRT) also slid out; the ‘Doctor’ at Turn 1.
Combined timesheets
FP2 timesheets are the combined timesheets, so it’s Oliveira, Quartararo, Viñales, Rins, Pol Espargaro, Nakagami and Aleix Espargaro in the top seven. Next up is a Ducati duo as Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) pipped Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) to P8 by just 0.011, with Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) completing the top ten.

Danilo Petrucci (Tech3 KTM Factory Racing), who now has the updates seen on the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machines of Oliveira and teammate Brad Binder, took P11 by the end of play and is the first man set to miss out on Q2 as it stands, with Marc Marquez ultimately ending the day in 12th by just 0.009. The eight-time World Champion said he’d expected to find himself in slightly better shape at the track but also didn’t push for a time attack.
Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol) was even closer to the rider ahead – Marc Marquez – by the end of the day. Just 0.002 split the two as the younger Marquez slots into P13. With the track not featuring on the 2020 calendar, the day was the first taste of the Sachsenring in MotoGP™ for more than just the 2021 rookies. Alex Marquez was the fastest of those who haven’t raced the track before in the premier class.
Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) was a tenth further back in P14, with Brad Binder completing the fastest fifteen on Friday ahead of reigning Champion Joan Mir.
Rossi ended Friday in P21, with a compatriot for company just behind him: Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). The number 63 was last on the timesheets and, although he didn’t push for a fast lap on soft tyres, will be looking for a lot more on Saturday morning as FP3 gets underway – as will the likes of Marc Marquez and Joan Mir.
That’s it from Day 1. FP3 starts at 9:55 (GMT +2) on Saturday to decide those going straight through to Q2, before qualifying begins at 14:10.
