MotoAmerica: Elias Riding With Yamaha Again At NJMP

Elias Returns with Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha Racing at NJMP

The Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha Racing team brings Toni Elias on board to race the upcoming MotoAmerica Superbike round at New Jersey Motorsports Park on September 10-12. The Spaniard joins the team’s regulars Jake Gagne and Josh Herrin for a three-pronged threat at the 2.25-mile track in Millville, New Jersey.

The 2010 Moto2 World Champion and 2017 MotoAmerica Superbike Champion enjoyed a great debut weekend on the Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha R1, scoring a second and fourth-place finish as he sat in for Herrin at the previous round at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex.

Richard Stanboli – Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha Racing Team Manager

“We are excited to have Toni Elias for one more ride on our Yamaha R1 at NJMP. He did a good job at PIRC, getting on the podium straight away, and we are confident that he will have another good run at NJMP. His energy is refreshing; he is like a kid in a candy store with the Yamaha R1.

“We are also excited to have Josh Herrin back after missing the last two events. I’m sure he will be anxious to turn some laps and will get back to pace quickly. Herrin is also expecting his first child just before or during the weekend, so we congratulate him on that.

“Learning from the past two events and all of the last-minute decisions undertaken, we are taking precautions for this event. If Josh were to miss any of the racing due to unforeseen complications, then Toni will be there to fulfill our obligations with MotoAmerica, Yamaha, and all of our sponsors. If everything goes smoothly for Josh, then we will have three riders racing in the Superbike class. We have managed a three-rider team in the past but this will be a first for us in the Superbike class. For sure, it will be challenging, so we have brought in some additional resources. I personally will be very excited to see all three bikes on the grid and racing for the win. It should be a fun weekend.”

Toni Elias – Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha Racing

“I’m very grateful they gave me another opportunity. Pittsburgh was maybe the worse track for me because it doesn’t fit my riding style. I think New Jersey features me a little bit more, and I can’t wait to be there and work again and try for a top result.”

Royal Enfield Launches All-New Classic 350

THE ALL-NEW ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC 350 – A LEGEND REBORN

America’s markets expected to launch the Classic 350 during the 2022 riding season.

Milwaukee, WI (Wednesday, September 1, 2021) – In its 120th year, Royal Enfield re-envisions its iconic motorcycle, the Classic, with the launch of the all-new Royal Enfield Classic 350. Completely redesigned from the ground up, the iconic Classic 350 motorcycle was launched in the Indian market today, and will be coming to American markets in the 2022 riding season.

The all-new Classic 350 adds yet another new chapter to Royal Enfield’s legacy of building authentic post-war-era British motorcycles that are loved by enthusiasts around the world. The design inspiration of the Classic range can be dated all the way back to 1948 with the groundbreaking Royal Enfield Model G2, the first to have swinging arm rear suspension on a full production motorcycle. As dependable as it was beautiful, the Model G2 served as a strong design inspiration for the hugely popular Classic 500 launched in 2008. The Classic 500 went on to help redefine the middleweight motorcycling space and was an integral part of the revival of Royal Enfield, up until the production of the dependable UCE 500 engine was stopped in 2020. Over a span of 12 years, more than 3 million Classic 500 motorcycles were produced, building an incredible legacy of its own—and now, the new Classic 350 is all set to take up the mantle and further build upon the legend.

Commenting on the launch of the all-new Royal Enfield Classic 350, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd. said, “The Classic launched in 2008, was a modern and capable motorcycle that symbolized the timeless post-war styling from the heydays of the British motorcycle industry. Its captivating design language and simplicity coupled with dependability catapulted the Classic to global popularity, and it went on to redefine the middleweight (250-750cc) motorcycle segment.

“We’ve paid great attention to every aspect of the motorcycle, right from its stunning look, to the perfection in parts and the touchpoints, to its impeccable riding performance. The engine is super smooth, intuitively responsive and engaging, and has that gorgeous growl on acceleration. The all-new chassis lends enormous confidence while riding, with surefooted handling and agile braking. The motorcycle feels in control and well-mannered around tight corners. The motorcycle is, without a doubt, class-leading, and feels incredibly refined and enjoyable to ride.

“Throughout our history, we have been consistent in our pursuit to build timeless, beautiful motorcycles that are great fun to ride, and the new Classic 350 does just that. The all-new Classic 350 combines this quintessential, retro design with a modern and refined ride experience. We are confident that the all-new Classic 350 will once again redefine the midsize motorcycle space, globally.”

Powered by the modern 349cc air-/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, launched recently on the Meteor 350, the all-new Classic 350 brings in a new level of comfort, smoothness, and refinement to the ride experience. Designed and developed by teams of designers and engineers based at Royal Enfield’s two state-of-the-art technology centers—in India and the UK—the Classic 350 is a product of true collaboration across continents. The all-new chassis is built for superior comfort and maneuverability—designed with improved strength, the chassis encourages more confidence at higher cornering speeds, and feels planted and stable on straight roads. The front and rear suspension has been extensively developed for more comfortable saddle time. With better ergonomics and more confident braking, the Classic feels agile and responsive, further enhancing the riding experience.

The new Classic 350 is set to arrive in North America during the 2022 riding season. Royal Enfield continues to release products dedicated to the midsize motorcycle segment, delivering more appealing and accessible options for riders of all ages and experience levels.

CVMA Announces Partial Schedule, Changes For 2021-2022 Season

CVMA is gearing up for the start a new road racing season.

CVMA would like to announce the release of the 2021-2022 rulebook, new racing classes, payout schedule and updated procedures for the premier Shootout races. The club prides itself on being by racers for racers. Based on the feedback of the membership, there are many exciting changes for the new season.

In an effort to better prepare racers for the next step in their progression, CVMA has made several changes to the Shootout classes and procedures.

“We realize that many of our racers are looking to use our series as a stepping stone to the higher levels of racing in the U.S. (i.e. MotoAmerica) and other series around the world,” said Jay Tanner, race director for CVMA. “We have changed the Middleweight and Open shootout races to now run under our SuperSport rules to better align our premier races with the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 and SuperSport classes. We have also instituted a parc ferme inspection procedure for the riders qualifying and racing in the Shootout classes to better prepare our racers for what they may experience in other national-level race events.”

More information regarding these procedures is available in our updated rulebook and this will also be discussed in detail in a special rider’s meeting before the start of our first round in September.

As stated in an earlier press release, CVMA is stepping up in a big way by offering $130,000.00 in purse across four Shootout races: Open, Middleweight, Ultra Lightweight, and American Thunder. Purses will payout from first all the way to fifth place with a maximum of $3000 for a win. For additional information on this new payout schedule please refer to our previous press release or the Shootout Appendix in our updated rulebook.

“When someone comes to me with a bike that doesn’t fit in one of our existing classes, I’ve always said, if you can get enough riders to come out and race, we will make a class for you,” said Micky Grana, President of CVMA. “That is exactly what we have done for the large contingent of riders that wanted a place to race their American Twins bikes on a road course.”

In 2020, a lot of  American Twins riders went through the CVMA new racer program. With the addition of a bagger class in MotoAmerica and the creation of the Bagger Racing League (BRL), riders came to CVMA to get a license and gain experience. For 2021, the club will now have two classes dedicated to the American Twins plus a new Shootout race with a sizable payout.

CVMA will kick off the 2021/2022 winter series the weekend of September 25th and 26th with a double points event. Excluding the shootouts.

The series will continue on Oct 30-31 and Dec 11-12. Dates for the final four rounds of the series will be set for Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr but exact dates are still TBD. The final round will also be a double points event.

Race Weekend schedules are also set for all rounds and can be viewed on our schedule page.

Racers are encouraged to review the updated rulebook that is available for download from our website to make sure they are aware of any changes.

CVMA offers two full days of racing every race weekend and also includes Saturday qualifying for grid position in all classes, amateur, and expert, as well as a wide variety of classes to choose from.

Additionally, CVMA offers free reciprocity as a means of encouraging racers from other clubs to come out and compete. Log on to www.cvmaracing.com for more information.

CVMA. It’s club racing done right.

MRA: Thornton Wins, Closes In On Title

MRA: Thornton inches Closer to Race of the Rockies Championship

Dear Trail, CO – Colorado’s Motorcycle Roadracing Association (MRA)
continued its 2021 championship series with the latest round 6 at High
Plains Raceway – North Course over the weekend of August 28-29

Coming into round 6 Mike Applegate trailed Ray Thornton by five points.
Applegate needed to beat Thornton this round to force a winner-take-all
showdown at the season finale. When the lights went out Applegate got off to
an amazing start with Thornton close behind. The two riders pulled a gap on
the rest of the field, lapping almost a second a lap faster than everyone
else making this a two rider showdown for the victory. With 6 laps to go
Thornton was still harassing Applegate waiting on an opportunity to strike,
when a mechanical took Applegate out of the race. Applegate later reported
it was because of a faulty fuel line. Ray Thornton seemingly cruised to
victory winning by more than 20 seconds.

The battle to be best of the rest was extremely intense as James Wilkerson,
Phillip Hergenrader, Jason Martinez and Jim Hinton battled the entire race.
All four riders having an opportunity for their career-first Race of the
Rockies GTO podium. As the laps wound down Wilkerson and Hergenrader were
able to weather the storm and secured their first podiums in the premier
class. Which gives us Thornton, Wilkerson, and Hergenrader on the Race of
the Rockies GTO podium.

In Race of the Rockies GTU the exciting racing continued. Jared Dear got off
to a great start with Dennis Stowers in tow. Stowers was able to put
together some fantastic laps managing to catch and pass Dear for the lead.
Undeterred Dear got back around Stowers and put his head down waiting for
Stowers to remount an attack. Stowers was never able to mount an attack
suffering a mechanical putting him out of the race with just 2 laps to go.
Jared Dear took the victory in GTU, followed by Alex Greenman in second who
also got his first career Race of the Rockies Podium and Scott Morrison who
finished third edging out Ken Yee at the finish line by a tenth of a second.
Which gives us Dear, Greenman and Morrison on the Race of the Rockies GTU
podium.

Every year the MRA racers get faster and this round was no exception.
Claiming new HPR-West track records were Tom Dixon with a 1:34.339 in 350
Superbike and 1:34.013 in 350 Supersport, Justen Behmer claimed a 1:24.100
in 500 Superbike and a 1:19.223 in Premier Amateur.  Craig Gomulka took the
500 Supersport record with a 1:25. 049, Ryan Smith bested the Lightweight GP
time with a 1:18.995 and the Lightweight Endurance with 1:19.782.  Finally,
Dennis Stowers pulled a 1:16.229 in Modern Vintage GTO and Alex Greenman
scored a 1:17.512 for Modern Vintage GTU.

For Round 7, the MRA returns to High Plains Raceway which will feature the
MRA’s SuperStreet class and race program for only $100.  For more
information on SuperStreet and to sign up, go to

MotoGP: Vinales Will Start Racing Aprilia At Motorland Aragon

MAVERICK VIÑALES ON THE TRACK WITH APRILIA FROM THE ARAGÓN GP

LORENZO SAVADORI WILD CARD IN THIS SEASON AND 2022 TEST RIDER

All the pieces have now fallen in place for the Aprilia Racing rider line-up after Maverick Viñales’ début astride the RS-GP during the two days of testing on the Misano Adriatico circuit.

The Spanish rider, extremely impressed by the first contact with the Italian team, will be on the track officially from the Aragón GP, scheduled to be held on the weekend of 12 September. He will take a spot on the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini alongside Aleix Espargaró, who just brought the Noale-based manufacturer their first podium in MotoGP at Silverstone.

Lorenzo Savadori will therefore be confirmed as test rider for the 2022 season, completing an extremely high level trio with the goal of continuing to improve the young RS-GP project. For the rest of the 2021 season, his presence on the track will not be lacking, taking advantage of the wild cards Aprilia has available. Lorenzo’s work schedule will be formalised as soon as he has recovered fully from the injury suffered during the Styria GP, a fractured right malleolus that required surgery.

MASSIMO RIVOLA – APRILIA RACING CEO

“We are extremely proud to be able to announce our plans for the current season and for 2022 with the goal of optimising the contributions of our three riders to the utmost. Alongside our confirmed rider, Aleix, it is our pleasure to welcome a talented athlete like Maverick to the Aprilia Racing team, who demonstrated a great feeling with the team and the bike straight away and who I am confident will be able to give his best as early as the Aragón GP. At the same time, we are also confirming Lorenzo’s role as 2022 test rider. This is a fundamental position that rewards the great efforts he has demonstrated in developing the new RS-GP, whereas he will finish out the 2021 season taking advantage of the wild cards that we’ll decide on together as soon as he is back to 100% fitness.”

ROMANO ALBESIANO – APRILIA RACING TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

“The decision to have Maverick on the track from Aragón is a direct result of the tests done in Misano. It was not a given that, after a career spent up to now on a bike with an in-line engine, Maverick would have a good feeling with our V4 straight away. This is why the test on this track, historically not an easy one for our bike, was an important moment of assessment. Therefore, we are satisfied with Maverick’s immediately positive reactions, which demonstrated a good feeling both with the RS-GP and with the team and our work method. His and Aleix’s talent, combined with the experience Lorenzo has gained this season, make us optimistic about the future of our MotoGP project.”

KTM Introduces All-New, Lighter, More Powerful RC 390

THE 2022 KTM RC 390 BRINGS READY TO RACE DNA TO THE STREET

MURRIETA, Calif. – KTM North America, Inc. is excited to announce that the highly anticipated all-new KTM RC 390 is ready to roll out of pit lane and onto the starting grid in 2022.

The KTM RC 390 has been a staple Supersport model in the KTM range since 2014, filling the sport bike gap in KTM’s lineup for a number of years. Now boasting Grand Prix-inspired design, a true race-derived chassis and high-end electronics previously unseen in the small displacement Supersport segment, the new generation RC 390 charges out of pitlane with real-world and race-winning intentions.

The most immediately obvious update across the board is the Grand Prix-inspired styling, which sees almost every panel being redesigned, boasting race-inspired lines and two new colorways that clearly define the sporty character of this motorcycle.

This redesign has also been purposely done to not only give the RC 390 a striking visual presence but to optimize aerodynamics due to its now higher top speeds, thanks in part to a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) design process.

This new design has also optimized wind and weather protection, with enhanced heat management by using a combination of inner and outer body panels to direct airflow away from the rider.

The rear bodywork has been reduced as much as possible for a more aggressive profile, but also to show off as much of the redesigned steel trellis subframe as possible.

As a true sport bike, special care has been taken in improving overall ergonomics. The knee area is now ergonomically developed to allow for easier, more fluid rider movement—being as narrow as possible with the largest possible contact area.

An all-new two-part cockpit and windscreen holder makes use of a cast aluminum upper area and a lower composite part that secures the headlight, while a larger 3.6 gallon (13.7 liter) fuel tank has been added for improved day-to-day riding comfort and fuel range.

The new bodywork is easily removable, with a reduced number of screws being used as well as a redesigned mounting system. This makes swapping out the street-legal bodywork for race-ready panels more practical. However, the most notable updates to the KTM RC 390 can be found underneath the new bodywork.

The 2022 KTM RC 390 was developed with a focus on weight saving, particularly throughout the chassis. An all-new wheel design accounts for 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg) of unsprung weight saving over the previous generation, while the newByBre braking system saves an impressive 2.11 lbs (960 g). The frame, too, has undergone the knife with a massive 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) of savings.

The suspension has also undergone a major refresh, with adjustable open cartridge WP APEX upside-down front forks, featuring 30 clicks of compression adjustment on the left and 30 clicks for rebound on the right.

The class-topping KTM RC 390 is fitted with a WP APEX rear shock absorber, which offers pre-load adjustment and five clicks of rebound settings.

The KTM RC 390 is powered by a state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine with twin overhead camshafts, four valves and electronic fuel injection. For 2022, it delivers more torque compared to previous models thanks to a new airbox design. New engine mapping can also be thanked for the increased torque and overall rideability.

From an electronic standpoint, the new generation KTM RC 390 sets the benchmark for the small displacement Supersport segment with a selection of rider aids typically available only on bigger motorcycles. These features include namely SUPERMOTO ABS, Lean-Angle Sensitive Cornering ABS and Cornering MTC, as well as the optional Quickshifter+.

KTM MY RIDE can now also be added to the KTM RC 390 through the new TFT color display, which allows riders to access important information at a glance, with the added flexibility of being able to tailor the display to show exactly what data they want to see. The display also automatically adapts its brightness to ambient light.

As a package, the 2022 KTM RC 390 promises to bring more READY TO RACE into the realm of Supersport with real, race-bred ability and technology to match.

The new generation KTM RC 390 will be available in dealers beginning March 2022.

Complete 2022 KTM RC 390 information is available at www.ktm.com.
