Suzuki GSX-R1000 Design Reminiscent of Suzuki MotoGP GSX-RR

Chino, CA (March 23, 2016) – Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing unveiled the new racing livery of the 2016 Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 Superbike and the team at the Circuit of The Americas today. The design for the team this year more closely align with the livery of the Team Suzuki Ecstar GSX-RR MotoGP machine and some of the production versions of Suzuki’s iconic GSX-R models.

On hand for the unveiling were 2016 riders Roger Hayden and Jake Lewis, along with substitute rider Toni Elias as well as members of the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing Superbike team.

“We’re pleased to present the new livery of the team for 2016,” said Don Sakakura, Senior Vice President of Yoshimura R&D of America. “This distinctive color scheme will certainly allow fans to immediately identify that the motorcycle they are looking at is a Suzuki and it’s important for us to build brand recognition by making our race bikes look very similar in appearance to not only Suzuki’s MotoGP machine, but the street version of the GSX-R as well.”

This season marks the 40th anniversary of MotoAmerica’s AMA Superbike Championship and Yoshimura Suzuki is proud to have been a part of the history of the championship from its inception. The Suzuki GSX-R line is the leader in nearly every category throughout the decades-long tradition of the America’s premier road racing series.

The edgy and clean GSX-R styling incorporates fairing and bodywork details aimed at reducing turbulence and drag. The new livery should allow fans and TV viewers to instantly distinguish the bikes as Suzuki.

The 2016 MotoAmerica season kicks off at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas on April 8-10, 2016.
