ROAD AMERICA AND YAMAHA EXTEND RELATIONSHIP THROUGH 2019

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., Dec. 13, 2017 – Road America announced today that Yamaha would remain as its Official Motorsports Partner of Rider Education through 2019, continuing a partnership that began in 2013.

“Yamaha is very pleased to be able to extend our relationship as an Official Motorsports Partner of Road America,” said Dan Rivito, Regional Marketing Manager for Yamaha Motor Corporation. “Yamaha is committed to rider education and safety and through this partnership we will be able to expand Yamaha rider education initiatives at one of the nation’s premiere venues.”

As part of being an official partner of Road America, Yamaha will have a presence through multiple areas of the venue. Yamaha will also play an integral role at the track as part of Road America’s successful motorcycle school programs to educate two-wheel enthusiasts. Road America’s Basic Rider Courses are taught by award-winning rider coaches who have completed extensive training through the MSF and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). Successful completion of the school’s basic rider course by participants satisfies part of the requirements necessary to obtain a Class M endorsement on their driver’s license from the WisDOT.

“Our Road America Motorcycle School class list continues to expand as our riders’ demand exceeds the number of dates we offer each year,” said Mike Kertscher, Vice President of Business Development for Road America. “Learning to ride or enhancing your skills on quality equipment such as Yamaha motorcycles, scooters or taking part in our off-road driving experience programs on Yamaha’s side-by-side vehicles are just a few of the opportunities that we’re able to offer our customers at a great value and we appreciate Yamaha’s support.”

For anyone interested in learning how to ride at Road America, the Basic Rider Course or (BRC) consists of 16 hours of combined classroom and practical riding instruction. Participants in this course learn basic riding techniques on motorcycles and scooters supplied by Yamaha, along with important safety skills to minimize the risks of motorcycling. The Street Skills Course 1 (SSC1) is designed for new and returning riders seeking additional training to gain confidence to safely operate a motorcycle. The Street Skills Course 2 (SSC2) is designed for intermediate, expert and returning riders seeking additional training to precisely operate a motorcycle which includes continued skill development, proper braking and cornering techniques, accident avoidance, and group riding scenarios.

Road America provides the instruction for all courses in its controlled, off-street environment. Widely known as the largest private motorcycle training facility in Wisconsin, Road America’s schools are designed to maximize the fun and minimize the risk of motorcycling.

For the experienced enthusiast, Road America also offers Supermoto (Demo & Basic). These courses are taught on Road America’s CTECH Manufacturing Motorplex, a purpose-built 1-mile paved and dirt track with multiple configurations and elevation changes.

Road America also offers an Off-Road Driving Experience featuring Yamaha Wolverine and Viking vehicles. This unique experience gives people an unforgettable opportunity to check out Road America’s wonderful wooded terrain and guests are often treated to glimpses of local wildlife in one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful locations. The trail ride lasts over two hours and includes a wide variety of wooded terrain that is full of hills, large rocks, logs, and of course mud. Let our experienced guides take you to another world at America’s National Park of Speed and treat you to some interesting facts on the history and significance that Road America has in the area.

Registration is now open and all courses and experiences are offered from April through November. A current schedule of courses is available online at www.roadamerica.com or by calling Road America, 800-365-7223.
