Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams Take A Little Off The Top With A Visit To Barber This Weekend

Cypress, CA – After a hair-raising weekend of excitement at Road America, the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams are back in action this weekend in Birmingham, AL, as they make their annual Barber visit, which is sure to offer more close racing and close shaves for Yamaha’s “Fast Four.”

Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha: Hayes & Beaubier

Three-time AMA Pro SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes comes into Barber Motorsports Park just a scant four points–practically a hair’s breadth–out of the 2014 SuperBike Championship lead, and to say that the “Mississippi Madman” has the 2.38-mile, 14-turn Alabama road course dialed in is an understatement. Josh has been on the pole for the past two years at Barber, and he’s won all four races.

And, what about rookie SuperBike rider and current points leader Cameron Beaubier, you ask? Well, as matter of fact, “Hammerin’ Cameron” has also been on the pole for the past two years at Barber, and he, too, has won all four races, albeit in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class.

So, now that Josh and Cameron are both aboard equally prepared Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R1 SuperBikes, the ’Bama Brawl is on like Donkey Kong. Look for both Josh and Cameron to be up front at Barber Motorsports Park as they battle it out for SuperBike–and Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team–supremacy. It’s going to be a showdown that you won’t want to miss.

Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha: Gerloff & Beach

Ask young Texan phenom Garrett Gerloff, rider of the #8 Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6 about Barber Motorsports Park, and he’ll tell you that he likes the track a lot because it feels like home to him. That makes sense because 18-year-old Garrett and his family used to live in nearby Trussville.

Barber also feels like home to Garrett’s teammate JD Beach because it’s the closest track to where he lives in Philpot, KY. It’s so close, in fact, that JD likes to load up his van and drive to Barber the way the part-time flat tracker also travels to every dirt track event he can fit into his busy schedule.

Last year at Barber, JD and Garrett finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in DSB race 1. In DSB race 2, JD got on the podium in third place, while Garrett finished fourth. Both riders will undoubtedly be up front again this year as they each go for the wins on Saturday and Sunday.
