More from a press release issued by Dorna:
Toprak makes history at Donington with Race 1 win, home hero Alex Lowes crashes out at home. Razgatlioglu is picking up steam as his Saturday win makes it four consecutive wins and ten consecutive podiums.
The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship grid kicked off their Prosecco DOC UK Round in style as Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) cruised to a race win after Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) crashed out from P1 early on. Moments after lights out on Lap 1, Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team), Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) got tangled up and were sent sprawling into the gravel. Nicolo Bulega and Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) claimed the two remaining podium positions, riding largely uncontested ahead of the rest of the grid. Behind them, however, a four-way battle for P5 raged as riders sought every point they could manage.
Toprak Crownded King Of Donington: With Race 1 win, he overtakes Tom Sykes for most wins at Donington
P1 fell into ‘El Turco’s lap early on after home hero Alex Lowes took a turn three tumble, ending his race from P1. The defending Champion seized the opportunity, putting the hammer down and carving out a margin of more than five seconds by the race’s halfway point. His win puts his name once more into the WorldSBK history books as he becomes the second-ever rider with 10 wins at two different tracks. Nicolo Bulega didn’t get an ideal jump off the line yet did enough to clear himself from the three-rider crash behind him. He wasn´t close enough to give Lowes, or later, Razgatlioglu, a run for their money, and his P2 finish, ‘Buelgas’ sees his Riders’ Championship lead fall to just four points.
Redding VS Yamaha: Jonathan Rea found his way past the English rider to claim his best result of the season so far
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) came out on top of a four-way battle for P4 with teammate Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha), Scott Redding (MGM BONOVO Racing), and Dominique Aegerter (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team). Rea looked the most competitive he has looked all season so far, climbing to P2 on the jump off the line before settling for P5 for his strongest result in 2025. Scott Redding rode well to first climb up from P17, then to hold off the trio of Yamahas behind him; however, eventually Rea found a gap in his defence and shuffled him back to P6. Aegerter wasn’t close enough to put Rea under too much pressure, but stayed close enough behind the Northern Irishman to make him think twice.
Gerloff P8 Again: The ‘Lone Star’ ties his season-best result earned last round
Garett Gerloff (Kawasaki Racing Team) finished in P8. While he lacked the pace to fight with the foursome ahead of him until the final laps, by the race start, he had closed to less than 0.116s. Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) finished two seconds behind the American in P9. Rounding out the top 10, Andrea Iannone (Team Pata Go Eleven) was two seconds behind Gardner.
VIickers P12: In his home round, the rookie is closing in on his top-ten aspirations
Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) clocked in in P11, half a second behind Iannone. In his home round, Ryan Vickers (Motocorsa Racing) finished P12, around the top 10 positions. He espoused his desire to achieve before the round. Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) led the rest of the pack in P13, ahead of: Michael Rinaldi (GMT94-YAMAHA) in P14, Bahattin Sofuoglu (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) in P15 and Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team), who returned from his crash to finish P16.
Donington Crashouts: eight DNFs in Race 1
Alvaro Bautista, Sam Lowes and Yari Montella collided in Turn 1, ending the race for all three. Alex Lowes led the race in the early laps after overtaking the defending Champion; however, he had a high-speed crash into ‘Craner Corner’ which ended his race win hopes. Moments later, Tito Rabat (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) crashed in T9 in his first race with the Honda independent team. Tommy Bridewell (Honda Racing UK) fell in Turn 1. Lecuona and Ivo Lopes (PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team) both suffered tech issues, which ended their races with no points.
