By Beth Dolgner Vesrah Suzuki got back to their winning ways in the WERA Dunlop National Endurance Series, winning Saturday’s six-hour race at Summit Point Raceway. Tray Batey and John Jacobi rode the Vesrah Suzuki GSX-R1000 to a three-lap margin of victory. Batey started the race and immediately began to pull away, and only Team Velocity Racing’s Mark Crozier could run close to his pace. As the first hour wore on, Batey extended his lead and Vesrah was soon over half a minute ahead. The only red flag of the race began 36 minutes into the second hour when Jamie Miller crashed the Wikle Racing Suzuki GSX-R750. A life-flight was called although Miller was reported conscious and moving shortly after the incident. The red flag lasted for one hour and seven minutes, severely cutting down the race time. At the restart, Vesrah was again at the front, although the red flag had closed their gap over Team Velocity Racing. At the halfway point, the two teams were still on the same lap, while Bell’s ARNCHU Racing was holding down third. As the race progressed, Vesrah built up their lead and had the top spot firmly in hand by the end of the fourth hour. Their overall win also gave them the Heavyweight Superbike class win. Team Velocity Racing’s Crozier, Chuck Ivey and Reuben Frankenfield finished second overall on a Yamaha YZF-R1, winning in the Heavyweight Superstock class. William Lindsay, Brett Champagne, Ben Thompson and Joe Prussiano finished third overall and first in the Mediumweight Superbike class on the Red Star Yamaha YZF-R6. The win put them into the class points lead over Army of Darkness. AOD was in close contention for the class win until their engine let go with just under an hour remaining. Dalke Motorsports’ Brian Dalke, Josh Smith-Moore, Wrenn Smith, Giovanni Rojas and Keith Marshall rode their Suzuki GSX-R600 to the Mediumweight Superstock win after battling for the entire race with Dixie Mafia, who finished less than a minute behind. Dalke finished sixth overall. In the Lightweight Superbike class, Nolan Ballew, Stephen Bacon, Chris Ecklund and Melissa Berkoff earned another win on The Notorious P.I.G. Suzuki SV650. They finished 15th overall, beating Blue Ridge Performance by a lap. RESULTS 1. Vesrah Suzuki (Tray Batey/John Jacobi), Heavyweight Superbike, Suz GSX-R1000, 224 laps. 2.
