Barber Motorsports Park to Host 40th Annual WERA Grand National Finals Birmingham, Ala. (Dec 6) Barber Motorsports Park and ZOOM Motorsports announced today that the picturesque Alabama facility will host the 40th annual WERA Grand National Finals in 2012. Scheduled for Oct. 25-28 next year, the WERA Grand National Finals is the marquee event for WERA Motorcycle Roadracing with participants from across the globe. “The Barber Motorsports Park has been hosting WERA events several times a year since it opened,” said Rick Humphrey, Vice President of ZOOM Motorsports, the exclusive event promoter at the Park. “To host the WERA Grand National Finals is certainly a compliment to the relationship that has been developed over the years. We’re very excited to add this to our 2012 schedule of events.” The WERA Grand National Finals culminates a more than 30 race season that includes races at 15 tracks across the country. The WERA season typically begins in January each year. To qualify for the WERA Grand National Final a rider must have competed with WERA Motorcycle Roadracing in 2012 and must be in the point standings for the class(es) they run. This event sees riders from across the US compete for Sportsman Championships in a winner take all race for each class and it is the final round for the Pro-Am Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series where Championships are awarded by points accumulated at the National Events across the US in 2012. The WERA Grand National Final is the place where scouts for the Pro Teams find their riders and where the fans can see if they can pick out the riders that will shine in the following season.
