From a press release issued by Vmoto:

Vmoto riders enjoyed a great weekend of dry riding at Laguna Seca on November 8th and 9th. While the rest of Northern California was being pounded by the season’s first major winter storm, Monterey and the track remained dry for the entire weekend.

The Vmoto team was happy to welcome 46 registered racers and regularity riders. The long distance award went to Louis Mark and John Easton who drove from Niles, Michigan for the opportunity to try Laguna Seca’s famous cork screw.

Saturday:
Vmoto racers enjoyed two 15-minute practice sessions and ended the afternoon with a 6-lap race. Brid Caveney, on his BSA B50 GP Special, made a demon start but in the end Matt Dawson and Brian Filo had the field covered.

The highlight of the day was the regularity contest, which ran in two groups, one for street riders and one for racers, because of the large turn out. David Jevans placed first among the racer regularity group with 3 of his 10 laps within 1 second of each other. The most consistent in the street rider group and overall between both groups was Gordon McCall with his 3 most consistent laps all within 4 tenths of a second.

Saturday evening’s Vmoto cocktail party was enjoyed by both bike and car racers. The bench racing went on for quite a while with each group comparing notes on the best line to take in the corkscrew.

Sunday:
Sunday’s events consisted of a 15-minute practice session and a 6-lap race mid-day. This time Dave Crussell, on his 1972 Kawasaki H2R, was the class of the field.

The Vmoto team would like to thank HMSA, the USARM track workers and the great group of motorcycle riders who helped Vmoto in many ways and ensured the success of the weekend, most notably Richard Frank, Chris Frank, Lorin Guy and Richard Haas.
