Vesrah Suzuki Clinched WERA National Endurance Championship, West Won Four National Sprints At Barber

R#8 WERA NATIONAL/MID-CENTRAL REGIONAL AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK The weekend started with Mother Nature dampening things on Friday’s practice day, but Saturday saw the Bridgstone/WERA National Endurance Teams take a dry grid and run 4 hours of non-stop racing in the dry. Vesrah Suzuki on their GSX-R1000 won the race and with the win clinched their Championship with riders Tray Batey, Corey West and John Jacobi. Team owner Mark Junge has been Endurance racing for nine years and even after all those years a Championship is still special to him. BEI Racing with Billy Ethridge and Robbie Jensen on board the GSX-R Suzuki 1000 finished 2nd and Zyvax Racing with Jeff Kramer, JB Layman, CR Giterre and Shane Narbonne on their Yamaha 600 rounded out the podium. TVR 131 took the Heavyweight Superstock win on their R-1 Yamaha with Jamie James riding for the injured Zac Chapman along with Reuben Frankenfield and Jimmy Vanderhaar sharing the riding duties for the weekend. TVR 136 with Jimmy Dellinger, Ethan Ellis and Reuben Frankenfield won the Mediumweight Superstock on the Yamaha 600. TVR also entered a third team this weekend in the TVR 132 Entry on the team’s back-up Yamaha R1. Riding were Richard Quayle, born and residing on the Isle of Man, better known as “Milky” and Craig Atkinson, from Keighley, England both heavily involved in the annual Isle of Man TT this trip to the US was amazing for Quayle and Atkinson. After the event they were heard to comment that the US Paddock was so friendly and that the WERA Officials were very helpful and friendly, but that the weather could have been a little cooler for their tastes”¦..both riders now have a WERA Motorcycle Roadracing License for 12 months and have been invited back for another go with the American Riders. The team finished 9th out of 19 for the day. Sunday Mother Nature decided to hold off and only gave us a few sprinkles during the early racing. She did not however hamper the competition. Open Superstock saw Corey West, Robbie Jensen, Tray Batey and Opie Caylor racing at the front of the pack with West taking the win on his Vesrah GSX-R Suzuki 1000. Trever Townsend took the Novice win. West came back in the 600 Superstock race to take another first with Matt Lynn taking 2nd and Robbie Jensen 3rd. Daniel Parkerson led all laps and on the final lap lost his machine coming out of the final turn. Brett Bolton took the Novice win in 600 Superstock. West came back to best team mate Tray Batey who ran the fastest lap of the race in 750 Superstock Tim Birdsong took 3rd on his Kawasaki 600. Bolton took another Novice win in the 750 Supertock Novice race. 600 Superbike saw Matt Lynn take first followed by David White and James Dellinger. Bolton clinched another first for the Novices in the 600 Superbike. Nick McFadden took the win in the 125 GP class with Ian Tetrick and Caleb Adams rounding out the podium. West came back for another win in the Formula 1 race with Batey and Caylor taking 2nd and 3rd. Townsend took his second Novice win in the Formula 1 Novice race. The Lightweight riders had fun in the Lighweight Twins Superstock Expert race with Brunton, Echols and Slay trading places all 6 laps and Brunton coming out on taop and Echols taking 2nd and Slay 3rd. Tyler Rahm was the Novice Lightweight Twins Superstock winner. The 750 Superbike race saw Caylor take his first win with White and Dellinger coming in 2nd and 3rd. Townsend took another first in the 750 Superbike Novice. Slay came back for a win in the Lightweight Twins Superbike Expert and Mark Keown took the Novice win in the class. Open Superbike saw Sean Dwyer take a win with James Stroud and Skip Salenius rounding out the podium. David Brooks took the Novice win in Open Superbike. With 18 racers and so many classes you can see all the other winners on the WERA web site under results.
