UtahSBA Announces its 2013 Race Schedule March 21, 2013. Tooele, Utah – Utah Sportbike Association (UtahSBA) is pleased to announce the 2013 race schedule. The six-round ‘Masters of the Mountains’ (MOM) series will kick off on Miller Motorsports West Track configuration on April 20th. In its ninth year of competition, the series continues to be strong for 2013 – larger grids of both veteran expert and novice racers are expected and the club has also secured contingency monies and manufacturer support. Further class sponsorships have been secured with additional sponsors presently engaged in final negotiations. For 2013 UtahSBA shall continue its very successful RacingExperience program (sponsored by Speed by Spencer). Geared towards the trackday rider, the RacingExperience gives riders an affordable opportunity to experience racing coupled with mentoring, classroom time, practice starts and a mock race. The program has assisted many riders in making the transition from trackday participant to racer. Last season saw the implementation of a Saturday sprint race called the Deseret Dash. A race that was open to both Novice and Expert racers, the Deseret Dash traditionally boasted a highly populated grid. For the 2013 season, the ‘Dash’ will be further enhanced with a ‘Super Pole’ type qualifying format. UtahSBA’s premier King of the Mountain (KOM) title is the premier event of the series and has developed a legacy of fierce competition and enthusiastic rivalry as racers vie for the top spot at one of America’s most prestigious race tracks. The 2012 KOM title was won by Salt Lake City rider Oleg Pianykh. UtahSBA is looking forward to a great turnout and fantastic racing this year as riders from Colorado, Nevada, Canada, California and Arizona compete for the coveted #1 plate. UtahSBA is offering purses for KOM GTO and GTU. Contingency is offered from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati, EBC, Silkolene, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Pilot Leathers and Pit-Bull.
